“You cannot want sex again, we just went to sleep, Meer,” I groaned as I felt him gently shoving me.

I made a mental note to check his side of the sink for Viagra cause there was no way he wanted it again after we just had sex not even a few hours ago.

“Sug, somebody trying to get into the crib… shit tripping the system,” I watched as he climbed out the bed, tossed on a hoodie, grabbed his gun from the night table, and checked his phone. “They got the fuck in.”

I jumped up and grabbed a pair of his sweats from the chair near my bed, checked the baby monitors, and grabbed my gun. “I’m going to get the girls.”

Meer had gone into his head, and he wasn’t my husband or our girls’ father. He was a protector, and someone had invaded our safe place, daring to enter our home.

His phone buzzed in his hand, and he turned the screen to show me it was Quasim calling. “Suga, the girls are priority… I’m getting you to the side of the house so you can go to the compound… I’ll be behind you.” I started to argue back, and he gave me that look. “You heard what the fuck I said.”

I checked my gun and grabbed an extra clip from the side table before we crept out the bedroom, down the hall to where Peach and Cherry’s rooms were. My baby had just started sleeping in her own room, and then this shit happened.

While Meer went to get Cherry, I rushed into Peach’s room, grabbing her some clothes she could put on in the car. “Peach, baby,” I held my finger to my lips when she stirred out of her sleep.

“Why we whispering, Suga mama?”

I hated this.

Having to look my baby in the eyes and tell her that someone was in our home, wanting to harm us – I hated it. Meer and I had started telling her that we carried guns for her protection. Meer stressed he wanted the girls to always know what was up, and never to be defenseless when it came to the life we lived.

Their uncle was King Inferno, and that came with a lot of jealousy and people wanting to cause harm to us. “Someone is in the house, baby… we need to get out. I need you to listen to me and do what I say, okay?”

Peach nodded her head and pulled the covers off her body while I put her slippers on and grabbed her hand. Shoving her clothes into a bag, I slung the bag across my body, and we crept out the room. Meer came out of Cherry’s room.

POW! POW! POW!

We ducked down as the bullets hit behind us. I could feel Peach shaking while holding my hand. I released her hand and cocked my gun back, aiming at the nigga in the ski mask, trying to shoot us. I caught him in the shoulder right as Meer handed me Cherry, then he started to bust his shit at the man, finishing him off.

“Back staircase,” he directed, and we made it toward the back staircase that took you right by the garage and back door.

My car was parked outside the garage. He grabbed the keys from the hook, and made sure me and the girls were behind him as he opened the door. The alarm sounded, causing Cherry to jump in my arm, which caused her to cry.

I kissed her head as I held her close while holding my gun, and Peach held onto my arm. “It’s alright, baby… mama gonna make sure my girls are good.”

He nodded for me to follow him, whoever came was still inside the house. Meer held the door open for Peach and got her in, kissing her and staring at her. He put Cherry in her arms because we didn’t have time for the car seat.

“Suga, get the fuck away from here… I’m behind you.”

“Meer.”

“Capri.”

I hated leaving him behind. “Daddy.”

“I’m coming for you, Peach… hold your sister tight for me, okay?”

“Okay,” she cried as she watched him head back into the house.

I got into the car, and quickly pulled away from the house, knowing I was leaving my husband behind.
