Chapter 9
Chapter Nine
Sara
I open the door to Amar’s quarters, and the first thing that hits me is the smell. It smells clean. But I’ll change the scent when I smear their blood all over the walls while their intestines are oozing out. Like a watchdog, Adam follows behind me. When I step into the room, I stand still. Amar and my dad, Denis, are sitting on the couches.
“Well, this looks nice, I guess,” I tell them. I step closer to them, and my heart is pounding. I am going to murder my father. I take a seat across from them. Adam stands behind the couch, with his assault rifle in his hand. I look around the room and it’s bland. The walls are grey, there aren’t any carpets, and there is one black desk behind the couch where those two assholes are sitting. The room feels cold and distant, and yet, I feel like these walls could talk. The room is way too clean, the smell of bleach invading my nostrils.
“You knew we were coming here. How?” I don’t have time for small talk. My father looks at me with his black eyes, while Amar is nursing a glass of scotch. Denis is a silver fox at fifty-five
years old. Appearance is everything apparently, so my dad works out every day. He is keeping up his physique, and the only way you can tell he's older is due to his pepper-colored hair. My dad crosses his legs with a smile is on his face. With a very meticulous smile, I return the favor.
“Well, head Serpent, why did you run away?” my dad asks me.
“You were going to give away my throne to Haris,” I answer him.
“Sara, no. Yes, you were going to act as the new queen to the Savage Serpents, but Haris was going to be the real brains behind the operation.”
“Haris couldn’t tell a knife from a gun even if I held it before him. He was stupid beyond recognition.”
“He wasn’t the smartest of the bunch, but his family trained him to fight.”
“Only with his fists. He was cruel and physically abusive, Denis.” My dad laughs as if he can’t believe what I’m saying is a problem. He is the embodiment of why women chose the bear over the man.
“Sweet child, marriage isn’t based on love. Besides, I could never let you run everything on your own. Even if you are the smartest Serpent.” Now we are getting somewhere. I always suspected Denis to be a raging misogynist, but this is absurd. I am the most skilled fighter in our organization, the smartest one, and the most manipulative one. You don’t want to close a deal? Watch me change your mind.
“Denis, cut to the fucking chase. You didn’t want me to run the Savage Serpents entirely on my own for one reason,” I tell him while remaining completely emotionless. While I am portraying myself as calm, I am anything but. The rage is building up inside of me. I position myself a little bit more steadily. I uncross my legs and let my feet hit the floor. My underarms are now leaning on my upper thighs.
“You are a woman, Sara. I could never let a woman do everything; women can’t do that. I would rather eat a dick than see a woman at the helm of my organization.” There it is ladies and gentlemen. I scoff and I start laughing like a maniac. Once I calmed down, I can see Amar has set his drink down. He is like a child who is watching a fight between his parents. Useless.
“Denis, you were afraid because I could do your job better. And I did, didn’t I?” I ask him. He is gritting his teeth. Get mad, asshole.
“All of the clients of the Savage Serpents have told you business has been extremely good. More hits, or should I say, better-planned hits that don’t result in cleaning up?” If steam could come out of someone’s ears, it would have been out of my dad’s. While my dad was completely in charge the last couple of years, clients started dropping him. It was all due to the incoordination and sloppy work of the assassins we had back then. Their screw-ups forced us to clean up for free. We lost a lot of money from it. That’s when my dad had me come in to take over some tasks, and once I did, business was good again.
“You had help. Your cousin Eldin helped you.” He can’t bring himself to admit I am just that good.
“No, he didn’t. Yes, he was helpful, but I was training him,” I tell my dad. He furrows his brows at me.
“You see, I think Eldin will be a great Serpent King.” And with that, my dad stands up and points his Glock at me. I smile at him.
“Is this what has become of the great current Serpent King? I could vomit of how pathetic you are,” I tell him while making a disgusted face. Denis looks at Amar and nods at him. The short guy is now pointing his assault rifle at Adam, and he is just laughing. Did Amar honestly think he could scare Adam?
“Amar, shoot him,” my dad commands him, his fingers move over the trigger.
“Amar, stop. Before you shoot Adam, let me tell you something about my dad.” My voice is strong, and Amar lowers his rifle.
“My dad promised you a seat at the table, but how could he? All of the seats are filled up. You should have done your research, leech.” Amar’s eyes open wide, and he is looking mad. He now points his rifle at my dad.
“Do you also know the true meaning of power, Amar?” He shakes his head without even looking at me. The number one rule as a Serpent Savage is, that if a higher-ranking officer talks to you, you must look at them. Like I said, he is completely useless, and a testament to what my father has become. Desperate.
“Me. I am the true meaning of power. And one more thing, you didn’t look at me.” Amar realizes his mistake and looks at me. I bite my lip since I am in my element and I snap my fingers at Adam.
“Rage.” And with that one-letter word, Adam points his rifle at Amar and shoots him through his skull. My dad looks at the dead body that’s lying in front of him, and he grips his Glock even tighter. He looks at me and then at Adam.
“I hope you are ready to die, Sara,” my dad tells me. Adam doesn’t have enough time to stop my dad from shooting me, so I close my eyes.
“No!” I hear Adam shouting. Before Adam can shoot my dad, something happens and everyone frazzles, except me. My dad’s gun is empty of bullets. He throws the unusable firearm onto the floor, and remains quiet. You could hear a pin drop in the room.
“Oh, I had a backup plan. You see, a day before the wedding I had a feeling you would do something, so I emptied your favorite Glock.” When the words leave my mouth, they cling to the walls. The grey cages are eating every word up.
“What the fuck did you do?” Denis asks me. I stand up and I pull the blade out of the waistband Adam put on me earlier on.
“You have become predictable, an abomination to this society. You forgot the weight of a loaded gun. For special events, you always carry your favorite gold weapon.” This is only the beginning.
“The only abomination is your subordinate to your father!” I sigh at his childish outburst.
“Anyways, you haven’t used your Glock in a while, so I emptied a night before the wedding.” I wiggle my eyebrows at him. This always made him mad but I don’t fucking care anymore. I am mad too.
“I will never let you have the throne. Do you hear me!” What’s this yelling about?
“I don’t want it, Eldin will take over,” I tell him.
“Eldin is weak like you. He will run it into the ground.”
“No, he won’t, because I taught him. Anyway, you have two options now. Either you die with dignity, or you die with me killing you very slowly.”
“No, silly little girl, not if I kill you first.” My dad grabs a knife from his back pocket, and he starts running toward me. I unscrew the bottle of water I found in the shed, and I murmur come at me, under my breath. My dad raises his knife to cut me, but I’m faster. I spill the contents of the bottle onto his eyes, and he starts screaming. He collapses onto the floor, and he trashes around.
“Hold his arms down, Rage,” I command Adam. He stalks over to my dad, and he holds him down. I drop down to my knees and sit beside my piece of shit dad. I take out my blade and I raise his sweater so that his stomach is exposed. I take my blade and start carving.
“Was that acid, Fury?” Adam asks me while I am carving my dad. I nod. My dad is screaming in pain, and his cries are like a symphony. I am avoiding carving any deeper because that’s not the main objective of this . I want to convey a message to whoever finds him. But I have to admit one thing, the feel of my blade entering my dad’s lower abdomen is amazing. The way the flesh under his skin is turning red is a sight to be seen. It’s like I am one with my blade and I can feel every pulse and nerve I am hitting.
“Can you do something for me, Rage?” I motion for him to come to me. He lets go of my dad and I whisper my command in his ear. He nods gleefully at me and goes over to Amar. My dad can’t see, but he can still talk.
“You fucking bitch! What the fuck do you think you are doing?” my dad asks as he moans in absolute agony. I smile as I finish my craft. I look up at Adam who returned with the thing . He hands it over to me and for a moment I want to puke, but I don’t.
“I am leaving this organization, and you are going to choke on Amar’s cock,” I tell him.
“Don’t, Sara, don’t!” he screams. I shove Amar’s severed dick in his mouth. My dad starts choking on the bloodied dick.
“Didn’t you tell me that you would rather choke on a dick than to see a woman at the helm? Now, you will.” My tone is dangerously low, and it tells you not to mess with me. I take my cleaver from my waistband, and I slice him from ear to ear. Why? Because it’s my sign-off. That way everyone will know I did this, along with the message I carved into his lower abdomen. Blood starts splattering from his cheeks and mouth, and I make sure that it keeps gushing out by doing it slowly. This is, after all, a work of art.
“Fury, this is magnificent,” Adam tells me, and I smile at the compliment. For my final move, I slice his throat in one swift move. I stand up and I am honestly so happy. He is finally dead. I stand beside Adam, and he puts an arm around my shoulders.
“I, Sara, hereby decree that I abdicate my throne to my cousin Eldin. He will now be the Serpent King. If any of you try to find me, you will face death even worse than Denis,” Adam reads my message out loud.
“At least they will leave me alone. Eldin will be the best Serpent King,” I tell Adam. I turn around and I put my arms around his shoulder. I kiss him with passion and our mouths are fusing. I break the kiss, and I can’t stop grinning.
“Do you think your boss will have a job for me?” Adam smirks at me.
“I’ll talk to M,” he promises me.
“Now, are we still going to Brussels?”
“Yes, we are, Fury. Are you ready to start our new lives?” he asks me.
“I for sure am. I am so happy you painted my dress crimson.”
“It was the best decision of my life. I love you, Sara.”
“I love you too, Adam.”
