Chapter 5
Chapter Five
Dimitry
“ S he’s Romanov’s daughter!?”
Sergei swallowed hard, shifting his weight from one leg to the other. He’d told me he informed Chernov that Katherine was with me. The bastard not only sent a message back, saying he didn’t care about the “whore,” but also killed the man who delivered him the news.
Part of me thought I should respect him for that. Especially given how badly things had ended for my father when he’d let his emotions take over.
My father had been head over heels in love with my mother. When she got caught in a war between him and a rival bratva pachan, he’d sacrificed everything to save her. And it still hadn’t been enough.
That pachan had killed them both, and at nineteen, I was the one left to avenge them and reclaim our territory. I learned one thing that day: never be so foolish as to fall in love and let someone use your emotions against you.
But now… there was no respect to be had for this piece of trash.
That pathetic excuse for a man was lucky enough to have Katherine as his wife, yet instead of protecting her, he threw her away like garbage. He called her a “whore.”
I wanted to break his neck just for that.
And my stupid, crazy kitten had the nerve to scream his name just to annoy me. I sniffed my fingers. I’d taken a bath earlier, but damn if her scent didn’t still cling to me. Made me want her even more. I’d nearly come when she’d moaned, “Please.”
I could see the constant battle playing out on her face. I knew Katherine craved me, but she was too proud to admit it and still trying to stay loyal to that idiot.
But she will give in. One way or another, I’ll make her surrender, make her beg me to fuck her. And she’ll moan my name. Not his or anyone’s else. Mine.
I still couldn’t understand everything she made me feel, but I knew I wanted to make her mine. I wanted her to surrender to me. I had no idea what I’d do with her after that, but I was going to tame her.
A “whore” … he dared to call his own wife that.
“That’s what the message said,” Sergei stammered. “Romanov also sent this.”
Sergei signaled to Andrei and Mikhail, who brought in ten bags and dropped them on my desk. I opened a few, finding them stuffed with cash.
“He said he’s offering you however much you want to give Katherine back.”
This was needlessly complicating things. I fiercely protected my territory, that was the whole reason I’d started this fight with Ivan. The pathetic fool thought he could play games with me and cross into my domain.
But I hadn’t planned to start a war with others. Neither Romanov nor Chernov was a true threat on their own, but together, they could cause trouble.
She should have told me she was his daughter.
Not that it would’ve changed much. But I could have planned things better.
I looked at the money again. At least Romanov valued her enough not to insult me with a small offer. But the idea of putting a price on her disgusted me, and my stomach twisted.
I’m not letting her go. Not for money. Not until she begs, and I turn her into my pet. Then I’ll decide what to do with her.
“Send the money back.”
“Are you sure, boss? He might feel insulted, and…”
Sergei shut his mouth when I shot him a look, then ordered the men to remove the bags.
“Should I tell him anything?”
“No.”
It was clear he had more questions, but I didn’t have time for that. I needed to talk to my crazy kitten, make it clear I don’t like being lied to, and find out what other secrets she might be hiding.
She’s going to tell me everything, whether she likes it or not.
