Chapter Six
Alessandro
I woke slowly, luxuriously , aware this was the best I’d felt in...forever. I’d been with so many women it bordered on obscene, and yet not one of them had made me feel anywhere near this content.
Jane did things to me that weren’t just physical. I admired—more than admired—her differences to those other women I’d been with. It made me realize what I’d been missing out on all these years.
I drew her closer, my outspread hand on her torso just beneath her breasts, the other on the curve of her hip that jutted out as though inviting my touch. I nuzzled the side of her neck. “Mm. You taste good,” I murmured.
She smelled good too, like orchids and something sweetly unique.
“Good morning to you, too,” she said with a laugh in her voice, though I couldn’t fail to also notice the husky, turned-on timbre. She liked my mouth on her throat.
She’d liked it even more when I’d put my mouth on other, more intimate parts of her body. I’d found that out earlier when I’d pleasure her after finding her awake from whatever nightmare had plagued her sleep.
My dick jerked at the memory of her taste, the sounds of her groans and the scent of her when she’d come.
When I involuntarily ground against her ass, she gasped and rolled around to face me. “How much sex do you actually need in one night?”
I winked. “I could easily go another round or three.”
She arched a brow. “You might, but I certainly can’t. My body is well and truly out of practice.” She bent and pressed her lips to mine, surprising me. “And I have a job to go to.”
She twisted back around and climbed out of bed, and I openly stared at her nakedness as she opened the closet and riffled through her clothes. Blood surged to my groin but I kept my voice light. “So there’s not even time to share a shower with me? Not that I’m complaining. I like the idea of you smelling of me and sex.”
She paused, her hand on a hanger. “You’re going to make me extremely late.”
I threw the bedcovers aside. “Then I’m guessing our shower will be quick.”
She sighed, but didn’t look upset when she turned to me. “I guess so.”
I was still grinning half-an-hour later when I stepped out of the shower, then retrieved a towel from the rail before I used it to dry Jane’s slender body. It’d been beyond erotic having sex with her pushed up against the tiled wall like a barnacle while I’d hammered into her.
She’d gasped and moaned, then screamed as pleasure had overcome her.
It’d overcome me, too.
I was still reeling from the intensity of feelings that’d been wrung out of me along with my seed.
She lifted her arms as I dried her. “I can dry myself.”
“Indulge me,” I said huskily.
“My body tells me I’ve indulged you more than enough already.”
I draped the towel around her neck and gripped the ends to pull her close, covering her mouth with my own. “I didn’t hurt you?” I asked.
Her eyes shone emerald-green as she looked up at me. “I’m not that fragile.”
I released a breath, sobering at the thought of hurting her.
She stepped back, my arms dropping to my sides even as she dragged the towel off her neck, then flicked the end through the air, swatting me on my hip. My mouth dropped open and my dick rose like a serpent.
Jane was so...unexpected.
“Keep me hard and you’ll never get to work,” I growled.
“Promises, promises,” she said with a little laugh. Then she reached for the forest green dress she’d chosen and pulled it over her head, the white lace neckline and knee-length hem reverting her back to a bygone era I found irresistible.
I dressed back into my suit before I caught her hand in mine and we walked downstairs. It wasn’t until we stepped out of the storage room and into her shop that I realized we were no longer alone.
A young woman hurried toward us, her frizzy black hair enhancing her pale skin, her slender body wrapped in a bright floral pink sarong. Her focus was all on Jane. “I thought something was wrong!” She blinked, her hazel stare taking me in. “But I can see everything is right.”
Jane blushed. “Trudy, I’d like you to meet Alessandro. Alessandro, this is my wonderful shop assistant, Trudy.”
I stuck my hand out, Trudy’s hand engulfed by mine. “Hi Trudy. I’m so glad to know Jane has someone helping her.”
Trudy smiled. “I’m just part-time while I finish my degree in business.”
I withdrew my hand as I cocked my head to the side. “Then perhaps you wouldn’t mind if I took your lovely boss out for breakfast?’
Jane blinked. “Oh no, that’s not—“
Of course I don’t mind,” Trudy cut in. “Jane, you could do with a break.” She turned to me. “She lives and breathes her work and never takes time out for herself.”
I smiled at Trudy. She was on my side. Then I looked at Jane and said, “Then I insist. One morning can’t hurt. I’d love to take you to my favorite café and get to know you some more.”
“More than what you already know me?” Jane squeaked.
Trudy put a hand to her mouth. “Go, Jane. I’ve got this.”
The bell of the front door abruptly jangled, breaking the taut atmosphere. Trudy sent us a wave and approached the first customer of the day.
Jane shook her head, then said wryly, “Looks like I’m having breakfast with you.”
I couldn’t help but send her a triumphant grin. “Looks like it.”
