Epilogue Hooky
Mila
Seeing Rhodes walk in still makes my stomach flip, even after a year. I’m happier than I’ve ever been, yet my heart still finds a way to flutter every time I see him. I hope it never goes away. “You know I’m happy to see you, but you can’t stay, baby. I have back to back appointments today.”
“I know, I’m one of them.” Pulling me in, he kisses me right on my nose before moving to take a seat. “I have to schedule an appointment to see my girl these days since her business is fucking booming right now.”
“Yeah, and I have you to thank for that,” I remind him. “Without the plug on your website and your help with ads, I don’t think we’d have lasted this long. I’m not sure I ever properly thanked you for that.”
“You don’t have to. This was our way of telling Old Lady Mayweather to shove her prude money up her dusty cunt.” I weirdly love that he still talks shit about my first lost customer. “Anyway, we’re partners, remember? I love seeing you succeed.”
“Which just makes you even better in my book.” Forgetting his eyebrows, I straddle his lap in the chair and run my fingers through his curls. “What are you really here for, baby? I’ve still got your cum inside me from this morning and your brows look amazing. I know it’s not just to see me since we live together and work in the same plaza.”
“I missed you,” he admits, leaning in to kiss my lips gently. “And I’m excited to take you for a ride after work... that’s why I maybe, sort of snatched up both of your last appointment slots so you can dip out of here early.” Whatever my face is doing has him stuttering on. “I’m ju— I truly love how dedicated you are to your business. But you haven’t left early since you opened and it’s Friday. Jordan can close up for you. Come play hooky with me, sweetheart. I promise to make it worth it.”
The way he grips my ass tells me he’s still thinking about his cum, but I have to admit it’s a constant surprise when he takes care of me like this. Yeah, it may be a little selfish too, but he’s right. I never take time off and I should.
“Did you already talk to Jordan?”
“Yeah. She laughed at me and said you’d never go for it. She also called me a loser, so can we please go prove her wrong so she sees she’s the loser here?”
I know Jordan can get pretty mean even when she’s joking around, but it sounds like maybe she didn’t actually agree. She’s been working just as hard as I have. “Okay, giant. Let me go talk to her. Just stay here.”
I kiss him once then head up front to Jordan’s desk, grinning when I see every seat on the floor filled.
“Hey, you got a sec?”
She looks me up and down with an expression that says she knows exactly what I’m about to say. “Always have a second for the boss. What’s up?”
I pull her back a little so I don’t interrupt our clients. “Rhodes wants to take off early, but I wouldn’t take his word for it that you were okay to close. Would you mind?”
“Damnit,” she hisses. “I bet him five dollars he couldn’t convince you.” Her smile tells me she really isn’t all that upset about it. “Fine, go ahead. He’s the last two appointments on your books anyway.”
“So he said,” I laugh. “Okay. I’ll make it up to you next Friday, yeah? You can play a little hooky of your own.”
Winking, I step away so she can get back to work and then practically jog back to my man.
“Okay, she owes you five bucks and I owe you one hot date. Let’s go.”
“Fuck yeah.” Rhodes jumps out of the chair and lifts me up, carrying me outside before I can even grab my purse, but I notice it’s hanging off his arm when he sets me down. “Ready to be my backpack?”
He hands me his actual backpack before stuffing my stuff inside, then a helmet he had customized just for me. It’s black with marigolds on both sides, making me squeal. He’s been talking about getting me one for months, but always said he couldn’t find the right fit.
I guess he found it.
“I love it!” I yell, putting it on before hugging him so quickly our helmets smack together. It just makes us both laugh. “Where are we going?”
Suddenly he looks a little nervous. “Honestly, I didn”t plan that much, baby. I just want to see where the road takes us and go with how we’re feeling. That okay with you?”
Smiling, I tip my helmet against his a little softer since I can’t kiss him right now. “That sounds perfect to me. You know I’d follow you anywhere.”
“I know, sweetheart. I’d follow you anywhere too. Now, let’s go get lost together.”
‘Getting lost’ leads us to some hole-in-the-wall diner with the best BLT’s I’ve ever had and pineapple upside down cake that I’ll never forget, but it’s the ride itself that means the most.
Roscoe Rhodes started off as a thorn in my side and ended up being the force that set me free. For too long, I’d kept myself bottled up in the name of self-preservation, but as he bends me over the side of his bike and fucks me overlooking the sunset... I realize I’d just been saving myself for him.
Fate is bullshit and destiny is a scam, but love? True love? That’s real, and that’s what I’ve got with my bike riding, weight lifting, too-much-dick giant.
I just hope a lifetime is long enough.
