Chapter 22

Allyson smiled as Caleb’s little eyes closed. He’d wanted to wait for Crash to return but was exhausted after playing outside with a couple of the O’Connor kids. She checked on Mila in the crib and then closed the bedroom door. They’d moved her into the room with Caleb because Crash had woken her the previous night when he yelled out during a nightmare.

She had showered and tidied up the small bunkhouse, but there was only so much she could do. It was difficult not to worry when she knew Crash was in danger, but she also understood why he wanted to be there for Axel.

Allyson saw a change in Axel over the last few days and figured he was concerned. The last thing she expected was for him to start drinking, but Crash stood by his friend. There was a soft knock, and she made her way to the front door.

“How are you doing?” Bethany said as she opened the door.

“I’m okay. I’m worried about Brent and his friend,” Allyson said, plopping down on the small sofa.

“Aaron told me what happened here earlier.” Bethany was the only one who didn’t call her husband A.J.

“I can’t believe an officer would put his men in that situation,” Allyson said.

“You can’t? Even after what happened to Trent?” Bethany sat next to her.

“The men who serve know their lives could be in danger if they go into those places, but Brent and his friends were sent there when they shouldn’t have been.” Allyson sighed.

“I saw Sidney at the safe house. I dropped off some food from Nanny Betty and Kathleen. She’s pacing the floor,” Bethany told her.

“She’s got to be scared.”

The bunkhouse door opened, and Crash walked in. He stopped for a minute when he saw Bethany. The man looked exhausted, but he still made her heart race when he looked at her.

“Hi, Bethany,” Crash said softly.

“You doing okay?” Bethany asked.

“Yeah,” Crash dropped down onto the armchair.

“Axel?” Allyson wasn’t sure she should ask.

“He’s struggling, but Dad is staying with him tonight. Axel’s dad is there, too. Mr. Wright is heartbroken he hadn’t noticed Axel drinking again.” Crash yawned.

“I should head home. You’re exhausted.” Bethany stood up.

“You don’t need to go. I need a shower, and hopefully, I’ll get some sleep tonight.” Crash motioned for her to sit back down. “I wish I’d gotten back in time to put Caleb and Mila to bed.”

“Caleb tried to stay up but couldn’t stay awake.” Allyson smiled as he leaned down and kissed her cheek.

“Thank you for taking care of them,” he whispered against her lips.

She watched as Crash quietly checked on the kids and then disappeared into the other room. Allyson turned back to her sister. Bethany seemed to have something else on her mind, but she wasn’t saying it.

“What’s wrong?” Allyson asked.

“Why did you suddenly change your mind about being with Brent?” Bethany reached over and took her hand.

Allyson still hadn’t said anything to her sister about what happened after she lost the baby all those years ago. She knew Bethany would be hurt that she’d kept it from her, but everything had been so screwed up back then. It was stupid to hide it, but it had caused problems for her and Trent that she didn’t want to bring anyone else into the situation.

“I thought he wanted kids of his own.” Allyson sighed.

“Doesn’t he?” Bethany asked.

“He does, but…”

Allyson wasn’t sure if she should say anything without Crash’s permission, but this was her sister, and she knew Bethany wouldn’t go out yelling it at the world. None of her friends would look at him any differently.

“But what?”

“Please don’t say anything to anyone because I’m not sure if he wants anyone to know.” Allyson glanced back at the bedroom door.

“You know I won’t.”

“He can’t have kids.” Allyson looked into her sister’s shocked face.

“Seriously?” Bethany whispered.

“A childhood illness caused it.” Her sister nodded.

“So, you don’t want any more kids?” Bethany seemed surprised.

“I’d love to have lots of kids, but that’s not possible,” Allyson said as she swallowed the lump in her throat.

“Ally, you aren’t that old,” Bethany grumbled.

“It’s not my age. Do you remember when I lost the baby?” Allyson asked her sister.

“Yes, I was pissed you wouldn’t let me or dad come stay with you. I mean, it’s not like we were in Newfoundland. We were only living an hour away from you in Ontario.” Bethany squeezed Allyson’s hand.

“The baby wasn’t the only thing I lost.” Allyson blinked back the tears that always threatened to fall when discussing that day.

As she told Bethany everything about almost losing her life and Trent making the decision to do the hysterectomy, her sister’s eyes filled with tears. Bethany knew Allyson always wanted a bunch of children but never questioned it after losing her baby girl.

“I didn’t want anyone to pity me,” Allyson admitted.

“I can’t believe you kept this to yourself, but it is ironic that the one man who can make you happy isn’t able to have kids either.” Bethany wiped the tears from her cheeks.

“I know. We wasted so much time because of it.” Allyson smiled.

“I don’t know if I’m ready to forgive you for not telling me yet, but I’m glad you and Brent are together. I wish you didn’t have all this other stress going on with him.” Bethany hugged Allyson.

“Me too,” Allyson whispered.

When Bethany left, Allyson checked on the kids again before she headed into the bedroom. Crash sat with his back against the headboard with his eyes closed. His hair was still damp from the shower, and his full lips moved as if he were saying something to himself.

She watched him for several minutes before he finally opened his eyes and held out his hand. She quickly crawled onto the bed and snuggled next to him.

“I missed you,” she whispered.

“I’m sorry. Lately, I’m always in the middle of a crisis, but I missed you too.” He tucked his fist under her chin and pulled her lips to his.

He kissed her slowly, taking his time tasting her. She lifted her hand and pressed it against his cheek, running her nails through the two-day-old stubble. She opened her mouth as his tongue begged for entrance and swirled against hers.

When he finally pulled his lips away from hers, she whimpered with need. He hadn’t touched her anywhere else, and still, her body was on fire with a kiss. His eyes gave him away because his pupils dilated as he rolled her onto her back and hovered over her.

“I love you, Ally.”

He slid his hand under her shirt, and the heat against her skin caused goosebumps to erupt all over her body. She could feel the full length of his erection against her thigh as he lifted the thin material of her top to expose her bare breasts.

When his mouth clamped over the stiff peak of her nipple, she gasped and squirmed against him. She needed to feel his skin against hers, and she wiggled around until her shirt got tossed to the side. The whole time Crash sucked, licked, and kissed from one breast to the other. Then he ran his rough hand down her stomach and slipped into the waistband of her yoga pants.

The tips of his fingers barely grazed the top of her sex, and she lifted her hips to try and get his hand where she wanted it. He chuckled as he moved over her and knelt between her legs.

“Do you need something, baby?” He whispered while slowly pulling her pants down her legs.

“I need… I need you to…”

When she looked up, he was completely naked, and his thick cock stood up hard and waiting for her touch. When he tossed the rest of her clothes to the side. She wrapped her hand around his dick, pulling a deep groan from him.

“Ally, baby.” Crash’s head fell back as she slowly stroked his length.

“I need to taste you,” she whispered as she sat up.

“Fuck, yes,” Crash bit his lower lip as he sat back.

She lowered her mouth to the tip of his cock and rubbed her lips around the swollen head. He lifted his hips a little as if begging her to take it deeper into her mouth. With her hand wrapped around the base of his shaft, she flicked out her tongue and traced the head of his sex. He was the first circumcised man she’d been with, and she loved how it looked. He gently tugged her hair when she took the tip into her mouth.

Crash groaned as she hollowed her cheeks and began to move up and down his length. She squeezed the base of his cock as her lips and tongue slowly worked his shaft.

“Fuck, that feels so good,” Crash murmured.

The way he fisted her hair and tried to take control of how she moved her mouth set her on fire. Did she want to be dominated and never knew it, or did she simply enjoy Brent doing it?

“Ally,” Crash moaned as he tried to tug her from his dick.

“Yeah?” Allyson stopped for a moment and then took his slicked tip back into her mouth.

“I want to be inside you,” he groaned.

Allyson wanted that too, and after a couple of long sucks, she popped her mouth off his cock. He was breathing like he’d run a marathon, but he picked her up and flipped her onto her back when she sat up.

“You drive me crazy,” he growled against her mouth.

Allyson ran her hands down his back and cupped his firm ass. He clenched and dropped his head into the nape of her neck. Crash loved to have his ass squeezed while he was inside her, and she had no issues with grabbing it.

“I want to taste you first.” He slid his hard body down over her.

“Yes,” Allyson hissed.

He spread her legs as he positioned himself between them and ran both his thumbs along the seam of her pussy. With a hum of approval, he slowly lowered his mouth between her legs.

“So damn wet,” Crash dropped down as he spread her folds with his fingers.

His tongue leisurely slid against the opening of her sex before coming to a stop at her throbbing clitoris. He swirled around it several times before he went back to lick her opening again. She gasped when he plunged his long tongue inside her and pressed his thumb against her swollen nub.

“Oh, yes,” she whimpered.

Crash fucked her with his tongue as he continued to strum her clit, until her body started to tremble. The orgasm hit her, and she had to bite down on her lip to keep from screaming in pleasure. The last thing she wanted to do was wake the kids.

When her body began to come down, he lifted his head and gave her a sexy grin as he climbed back up her body.

“That was the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen,” he murmured against her breast.

She didn’t get a chance to say anything because he slammed his cock into her in one quick thrust. The movement was quick, but something caused her to fall over the edge a second time so fast that she wasn’t able to hold in the shout of pleasure.

“Shhh, baby.” Crash pressed his lips to hers as he pumped in and out of her.

She grabbed his ass and dug her nails into his skin, causing him to whimper and begin to thrust faster and harder. Each time he drove into her, his pelvic bone kept in contact with her sensitive nub.

“Brent, yes. Don’t stop,” she sighed.

“You feel so fucking good, baby. Your pussy loves my dick, doesn’t it,” He whispered into her ear. “It was made for you, Ally.”

“Your cock is so big inside me. Fuck me, Brent.” Allyson loved dirty talk.

Those words coming from her seemed to drive him crazy, and he knelt up, pulling her hips up off the bed as he pumped into her over and over. The headboard started to thump against the wall, and she pressed her hands against it to keep it from making a noise.

“That’s it, baby. Take every fucking inch of it.” Crash groaned as he slammed into her.

“Yes,” Allyson bit down on her lip as she clamped down, and her body shuddered with pleasure.

“Fuck, yeah,” Crash groaned as he pushed into her and held himself there.

He grunted as his body convulsed as he emptied inside her. He pulled out a little and then pushed in once more, and she felt him jerk inside her. After a few seconds, he lowered himself on top of her.

“I love you,” he cupped her face between his hands.

“I love you too,” she whispered.

For several minutes, they held each other before cleaning themselves up. Crash kissed the top of her head when they snuggled in bed.

“I love you with all my heart, Allyson,” Crash said.

Allyson lifted her head so she could see his face. His tone concerned her, and she saw it when she looked into his eyes—the fear.

“What’s wrong?”

“I want to make sure you know how much I love you. I don’t want you ever to doubt it because…” he stopped.

“Because what?” She touched his cheek.

“I may have to stay away from you and everyone else to keep you safe.” Crash wouldn’t look at her.

Allyson jumped up on her knees and grabbed his face between her hands. He seemed startled by the move at first but then cupped his large hands over hers.

“You’re not pushing me away. After all the time we wasted, there is no way I’m ever letting you go. Do you hear me?” Allyson stared down at him.

“But this guy who’s looking for Sidney is insane. He’s killing people to find her, and I’ve never been afraid of dying, but I’ve finally got everything I wanted, and I’m terrified he could take it all away.” He pulled her down on top of him and pressed his face into her neck.

“I’m not letting you go; I’m scared too, but don’t let him break us apart. Plus, you can’t leave those kids. They’ve lost enough,” Allyson held him tightly.

“You’re right. I can’t let this piece of shit hurt anyone else.” Crash hugged her tightly against him.

“You have the whole town of Hopedale protecting you, and nobody can hold a candle to the people of this town.”

She prayed she was right and everyone would keep them safe until the threat against him was gone.
