5. Shaylee

This morning had startedoff pretty well. Lola woke up around six-thirty, not long after her daddy called to say he was in the car and that they’d be back in a few hours.

I’d snuggled in the big bed with her for a while, hoping she would go back to sleep, but no luck. Anytime James was away, things got hairy in the sleeping department. To put it simply, sleep wasn’t always a guarantee for either of us.

She was getting better about it, more into the routine. I, for one, was glad that he wouldn’t have to travel all that much after this trip. I hated sleeping in that big bed without him.

He’d be back any minute now, and I had a surprise for him. I hoped like hell he was okay with just going with the flow this morning. I had the flight booked and reservations to keep.

From today through next Saturday, we had a cabin in the hills of Tennessee waiting on us. Plenty of room. Woods. No neighbors, just us. We’d have until Wednesday morning there alone. I was going to make the best of it.

I’d never been what I’d consider seductive. I felt awkward at times. Unskilled and a little clumsy. I was trying to get it together. Not that it took a lot to get James ‘in the mood.’ He wasn’t a man who needed the flair or extra work. Me walking into a room was all it took. Not that I was complaining in the slightest.

We’d had such a rocky start to this relationship. My heart had been in a million pieces. He’d been lost and not living his best life either. Slowly, we had healed and grown closer. I couldn’t imagine my life without him in it. Who knew a drunken night in a bar would lead me to where I was now? It’s one of those unbelievable stories you read in a romance novel.

It made my heart happy to make him happy. And me being me made him happy. It was one of those full-circle kind of things.

There was something more though. Something that made us both extremely happy, and that was being together, alone and preferably nekkid as the day was long. With a little one at home, that wasn’t always easy. We had had to learn to be creative and quiet. It was a real struggle most nights.

I was putting my creativity to the test this weekend.

I was sort of proud of myself, yet being scared to mess this up was also right up there with it.

Our bags, mine and James’, were packed, ready for our getaway. My heart though, was freaking out because I would be away from Lola. She was already at the house with her Nanny—she would be fine. My mom had all kinds of fun things planned for them. The aquarium with James’ parents and Danni’s family on Saturday, and she’d said something about a trip to the beach. Not sure if that was today or Sunday. Oh, to be a crab on that sand. Those three trying to wrangle one toddler was quite funny most days. Lola did love the beach. The sand was her first love, the water a no-go unless her daddy was out there with her. So again, they would be fine.

I looked at my watch and began to chew on my lip.

I heard the keys in the door as I leaned my hip against the back of the couch. Watching this glorious man waltz through the door never got old. He was in a pair of slacks, a button-up shirt that was tailored to his muscled physique. Delicious. That man was like a snack I got to unwrap and enjoy every single day.

“Hello, beautiful.” He dropped his briefcase, suitcase, and moved to where I was. Without hesitation, he lifted me up and planted my ass on the back of the oversized couch. His mouth claimed mine in a kiss so hot, the sun would melt.

The moan that escaped me was loud.

“I missed you so fucking much.” He kissed me again then pulled back. “Where’s my princess?”

I blushed as his gaze raked over me. I stuttered as my brain short-circuited. “Um… Oh, Lola is with my mom.”

He raised a brow, and I couldn’t help it; I gripped his tie and pulled him closer. His mouth and mine moved in slow, languishing movements. I wanted to do nothing more than devour this man right now. My brain screamed that we had to go though, so I pulled back.

“You and I have plans...” I used my thumbs and wiped the lip gloss from his lips.

“We do?” His brows pinched together.

“Yes, Mr. Whitman, we do. You have,” I looked at my watch, “about fifteen minutes to freshen up if you would like. We have to head to the airport. I told your pilot we would be leaving around 11:30am, and it’s almost 10:50am now.”

“Did I forget something?”

I shook my head. “Nope,” I popped the ‘p’. “I booked us a mini vacation. Don’t worry; it’s been cleared with the boss. Your dad will cover for us this weekend, and I believe he has someone else covering part of next week. Don’t worry, the office will still be there when we get back.”

“What about Lola?”

“She’ll be with my mom and your parents. They have their own agenda until they meet us on Wednesday morning.” I looked at my watch again. “Get moving.” I hopped off the couch, swatted him on the butt, like he did to me, and hurried to the laundry room with his suitcase. Dirty clothes could wait.

“I need—” I pulled out his shaving bag and held it up.

“I know, I got it. Anything else?”

“No.” He watched me then walked off chuckling.

I really did love that man.

When the car pulled up outside, we were ready. James had changed into a pair of jeans, trainers, and a well-worn band T-shirt. There was something about a man in a tight-fitting T-shirt. Chef’s kiss.

We got in the car, and I watched him.

“You okay?” he asked, taking my hand.

“I was about to ask you the same. I know you aren’t really a fan of surprises, but…it is your birthday on Wednesday, and I wanted to do something special for you.”

“I’m all right, love. Just wish I could have seen my princess.”

My heart sank. “I know, I’m sorry, but?—”

“This was the only way to avoid an epic meltdown. I know. It’s okay.” He leaned over and kissed me softly.

“There is that and,” I smiled brightly before continuing, “you will get to see her in a few days. The ‘rents are bringing her to us so we can all spend a few days together. We’ve all missed you.”

His lips once again brushed against mine. “Where are we off to?”

“I’m not telling you; it’s a surprise.”

“Come on, love, give me a hint.”

I leaned back and swatted his chest. This was my weekend to seduce him, and yet here we were, the big jerk was pulling a fast one on me. He knew my weakness. My eyes narrowed.

“None of that or else.”

“None of what?” He tried to look innocent; he failed. “Fine, fine. No more kissing then.”

I snorted out a laugh and covered my face.

His bark of laughter filled the car just as his arm came around me. “I do love it when you let loose, baby.”

“That’s embarrassing.” It was bad enough that I was a loud laugher, but to snort too. Jesus.

“I find it adorable. Everything about you makes me so damn happy that you are mine.”

Aww damn, he was being sweet. I melted into his chest and closed my eyes, breathing him in. In a few minutes, we would be at the airport, ready to embark on our newest adventure. I couldn’t wait.

When I got home from our latest business trip in Florida, I was planning on three things happening. One, spend some time with my girls, especially my little princess. Two, take a nap, and three, take Shaylee out for dinner and dancing. Then come home and have her for dessert.

Shaylee had other plans.

Color me intrigued. I had no idea what the little minx was up to.

I was sitting on the family’s jet, somewhere in the sky, having just left the airport, heading to an undisclosed destination. I loved seeing the excitement written all over her face as we climbed aboard. I sat here now, looking out the small window while I awaited a text back from the lawyer’s office on an open contract, letting my mind wander. My attention went from the clouds back to her sitting across from me. Her feet tucked under her, a book in her lap.

She was so beautiful. How I’d managed to not only get her attention, but regain her trust after our abrupt reentry into each other’s lives… Man, I owed someone a few lives by now.

She looked so content sitting there, reading…I couldn’t help but to tease her a little.

“Do I need my passport?” I knew I didn’t or we would not be on the jet. It was probably unfair to pull her attention from her book. But to be fair, she was a reader, and I’d known that from the jump. I would never take that love from her. It was her literal job, after all. You know the saying, you do what you love. Here was exhibit A.

“Um, sorry. Say what now?”

“Do I need my passport? I hope not, it’s in my briefcase.”

“No. Why would you we—Oh you!” She gave me a glare that had my libido spiking. Nothing was sexier than my girl all riled up.

“What did I do?” I held up my hands, trying to look innocent. I was failing hardcore. Let’s face it, there was nothing about me that screamed innocence.

She rolled her eyes at me and went back to her book. In less than twenty minutes, she was so engrossed in the pages that she didn’t move when I stood from my seat. Her face was flushed a delicious shade of red. Her neck too. I knew of two things that made that happen, and she wasn’t raging mad, so she must be turned on.

What exactly was she reading?

I walked to the bar and fixed myself a whiskey on the rocks, then walked to the back of the couch where she sat and peeked over her shoulder.

“The alpha’s hands slid up and down her thighs, caressing the reddened skin. His tongue lapped at her wet folds, working her higher and higher. Her little moans were making his dick hard as steel. He needed to bury himself deep inside of her’ marking her with his scent wasn’t enough. He needed to claim every inch of her beautiful body. But first, he needed to make sure she was ready for him.

With a smirk on my lips, I leaned down, brushing my nose along her neck. “What’s got you so excited, baby?”

Her shriek of surprise had that book of hers flying off her lap. “Jesus!”

“Sorry, love, Jesus ain’t here. Just me.”

I stalked around the couch to the kitchen area. Glancing her way, I smirked. Oh yeah, she was flustered. How did I know that? Easy; she was breathing heavily. Just as she would, if I’d been playing with her. I had never been so glad for no flight attendant being on board. The captain and co-captain wouldn’t leave the front of the jet unless there was an emergency. Since the sky was clear, I figured we were good.

To be on the safe side, I picked up the phone and said, “We are having a private meeting; please call before anyone comes back here.”

I hung up as soon as I got the affirmative.

“You’re mighty red there, love.” I tossed my drink back and set the cup in the small sink. When I turned, she was watching me. Who said you had to wait for dinner to have dessert? After all, I had been without her for three days and four very long nights. Why wait any longer to devour her?

“What are you doing?” Her words were breathy.

“I think we need to renew your membership to the mile high club.”

“Wha—”

My mouth claimed hers. I wasted no time pushing her leggings down. I pulled back, releasing her mouth. “Shoes and pants off.”

“James.”

“I’m going to make you come before this plane lands. Since I don’t know how long that will take, I suggest you get naked so I can eat that sweet pussy.”

She did as I instructed. Stepping out of her slides and leggings, her red panties followed the pants. I licked my lips watching her strip her T-shirt off. Underneath was the matching red bra. Lace covered the globes of her breasts.

Red was my favorite color. She knew that. She’d worn this for me.

Time to repay that sweet sentiment.

I pushed her back gently, and once she was settled, I knelt down, gripped her thighs just behind the knees, and pulled her to the edge of the couch before I buried my face between her legs.

Her moan filled the jet.
