Epilogue

ONE YEAR LATER
My Sunday morning fishing getaways are a bit different than they were at this time last year. I used to escape for a few hours of quiet and solitude, but I’m no longer alone on these not always so peaceful mornings. Griffin is not much of a sit around and wait for the fish to bite kind of guy, so he got Hank—yup, the bar owner—to teach him how to fly fish. Being up on his feet, decked out in his knee-high rubber boots, waterproof wader overalls, and somehow sexy bucket hat, he is happier than a hog in a mud hole.
And my sexy, rugged builder isn’t the only new member of my fishing team. Scout, our six-month-old yellow lab, is sniffing around the riverbank. He lives in one of two speeds—slow and steady, moseying around, sniffing every bush, tree, and blade of grass he comes across while we catch enough fish to have for dinner, or super-hyper, I need to run everywhere I go speed, so we end up going home empty-handed.
Scout was one of my two birthday presents from Griff. He was acting surprisingly nervous when we woke up that morning, but nothing surprised me more than when he came home from a ‘quick errand’ with a wiggly ball of fur in his arms and dropped to one knee to make our pretend engagement very real. I of course said yes, and we got hitched three months later. In the back room at Hank’s Tavern, where we moved the pool tables to make room for our friends and all of Griff’s crazy family, we said ‘I do’. My family still doesn’t support my choices, and I don’t regret cutting them from my life. And that’s okay, because our day was filled with love and happiness and friendship, and we couldn’t have asked for more.
Moving to Kettle Valley was the best decision I ever made. It brought me Griff, and then Scout, and possibly a two-legged bundle of joy, who if I get my way, will be joining us soon. Before we even exchanged rings, I started dropping a few not-so-subtle hints on Griff about wanting to add another member to our family, and while on our honeymoon, I found a few adoption blogs bookmarked on his laptop, so who knows what’s next for us.
Whatever it is, bring it on . . . I can’t wait to find out!
THE END!
