Chapter 20

CHAPTER 20

MARSHALL

Jasper is going to be an amazing lawyer. I can tell just by watching him help Lincoln host this dinner full of all the people who do the same kind of law that I do. To a person, they can be a tough sell—especially for some baby lawyer who hasn’t even passed the bar yet.

He’s good with a crowd. Charismatic. And that’s not just the post-sex haze from the love making—and promise making—of just a few hours ago talking.

I catch his eye across the room and give a slight tilt of my head to encourage him over. We are at the desert and wine and mingling part of the evening, and there are people here I want him to meet.

But more than that is the promise still ringing in my ear for us to see where this goes.

It goes forever. Keith’s voice is loud and clear in my ear.

Maybe, I toss back, but I know down to the very core of me that he’s right.

While my eyes trail Jasper around the room, I hear Keith’s rich laugh in my head.

So much for a summer fling.
