Chapter 32

MONTE CARLO, MONACO

“ Y ou’re glowing this morning,” Ava commented as she fell into step between Indy and Kamari, holding onto Rosie’s leash. “Is there a particular reason why you look so happy? Maybe involving the broody guy I work for?”

The trio was walking to the paddock whilst Miles, Thiago, and Rowan had taken their bikes to the track. They were probably already there, but Indy was in no rush. Besides, walking through the steep roads of Monte Carlo in high heels wasn’t her most brilliant idea.

There was something about the ambiance dancing in the streets of Monaco during race week that she deeply loved. The country filled with people from all around the world that had travelled to watch fast cars race through the streets. The fans wearing their favoured team’s colours. The incessant music. The yachts filling the harbour.

Indy looked down at Ava who was already wearing her black Imperium Racing uniform, her long ebony hair floating down her back. “Why would you say that?”

“She probably got laid last night,” Kamari joked, but when Indy beamed, she lifted her brows. “Oh, it finally happened?”

“Yes!” Indy felt her cheeks heat up as flashbacks from last night invaded her mind. He had made her come three times before they fell asleep in her bed. When she had awoken this morning, his tongue was buried between her thighs. “Guys, I missed this man’s dick so much.”

“It’s the only one you’ve ever had,” Kamari pointed out.

“True.”

“Really?” asked Ava. “You’ve never been with another man?”

“I have, but not all the way, if you get me. Huxley was my first…”

“He was?” Evidently baffled, Ava’s eyes rounded. “Does he know?”

Indy pressed her lips in a thin line. “No. Until now, Kam was the only one aware.”

“Shit. I feel like that would change something in your relationship.”

“It’s not that big of a deal.”

“It is to you,” Kamari said. “You always told me you’d sleep with people who mean a lot to you.”

“Are you going to tell him?” Ava asked as they crossed the road.

“Should I? I just love the way everything is at the moment, so I don’t want to ruin it.”

“Why would this ruin anything? He adores you,” Kamari softly declared. “We can all see it.”

Indy decided that she would eventually confess the secret to Miles, because he deserved to know how much he meant to her.

“He’s so in love with you,” Ava sighed happily. The words melted Indy’s insides, sending her heart into racing mode. “He just doesn’t know it yet. But I love the way he’s so soft with you, how he’s so protective of you and would do anything to make you happy. And the way he looks at you? There’s no doubt he’s obsessed with you.”

Her smile widened. “I know. He’s literally everything I’ve?—”

“Excuse me?” a woman interrupted Indy as she stepped before the trio. With her brown hair tied into a loose braid, her body clad in gym gear, Indy thought she looked familiar. The thing was that Indy met new people daily, so she couldn’t recall where she’d seen this woman before. “Are you Indigo Bailey?”

Indy beamed. “That would be me. Did you want a photo? I sadly will have to refuse because I need to get to the track, but I’d be more than happy to meet you at the end of the day and?—”

“I don’t want a photo with you. I don’t care about you.”

Damn.

Indy reared back.

“Can we help you?” Kamari asked with a chilling calmness, taking a step forward.

The lady blatantly ignored Kamari, keeping her gaze on Indy. She was eyeing her warily, seizing her up and down like she didn’t enjoy Indy’s outfit or whatever it was that made her lips pull up with disdain.

“Okay, well, have a lovely day.” Indy grabbed her two friends’ arms, pulling them to the side.

The interaction left a cloud of turmoil brimming her senses, but it was the woman’s voice booming again that made her stop short. Made her even more confused. Angered her. Saddened her, even.

“I’m Miles’ mother. I need to speak with him.”
