10. Raker
CHAPTER 10
Raker
T he day after the Ceremony, I rolled over with my cock hard as a goddamn rock. It always was when I woke up these days.
I used to be a shit sleeper, but ever since having Sunni warm my bed, I had slept goddamn good. Even better, she often woke me up with a blowjob, but today her face looked pale and drawn.
“What’s the matter?” I asked sharply.
Of course, I could go get someone else to blow me, but I preferred Sunni.
There had always been something about her technique, the eager way she took me down, drank every drop like she couldn’t get enough.
“Raker, you—you care for me, right? Like you’re happy I’m in your bed?”
I frowned at her.
“I wouldn’t allow you in here if I wasn’t happy with you,” I said. “You’re in my room for my use. No other club girl gets that. What else do you want?”
“I’m here just for you ?” she asked in a small voice, twisting her fingers. She took her full bottom lip in her teeth, and my cock throbbed in my pants.
I pulled her lip down, feeling her tongue on my fingers.
“Yes,” I said. “You’re here just for me. You’re my good girl, Sunni. I like having you in my bed. Now get on your knees before my cock punches through these fucking pants.”
Afterwards, she snuggled up against me, resting her head on my heaving chest.
“Sometimes I—think about more.”
“What kind of more?” I asked warily.
“Things like marriage. Children and and a family.”
“Are you trying to tell me you want to leave?” I asked sharply, anger cutting through the pleasure of my emptied balls.
“Of course not, Raker! I love you.”
She raised her head and waited for a moment, watching me.
I said nothing, but her eager face irritated me.
“Well, then marriage with who? There’s two kinds of women in my world, Sunni. Whores and wives. And you’re not a wife. So I’m going to ask you again. Marriage with who?”
I rolled out of bed, pulling a shirt over my head irritably.
There was a panicked note in her voice as she reached for me.
“Marriage with nobody! I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it, Raker.”
“No more of this nonsense,” I told her sternly. “I expect this to be the last time I have to hear about this. I have to go meet with the Righteous and I want you to be a good girl.”
I was in a foul mood as I pulled up the the temple. Today we were negotiating the expenses for the marriage ceremony, but it was not a good day for marriage negotiations, not with me unable to get Sunni’s face out of my mind.
Asking about marriage ?
Some goddamn nonsense about babies and a family?
I swore under my breath.
You’d think she was a little heathen who had near even heard the most basic of the Elder precepts.
Procreation was for your wife only. Any babies you had with a whore could never be recognized as your own. Club girls with a baby were given a very generous amount of money for their own apartments.
Why would Sunni, who had been such a good girl and never given me any trouble, suddenly be doing this?
Her place was very fucking clear.
It was to warm my bed until such time as I chose.
I toyed with the idea of telling her she had to sleep with the other girls until she learned her lesson but it was only a half-ass idea.
Having Sunni in my bed was easy and comfortable. Convenient. I didn’t even mind her funny little ways, like the little row of desert plants she was keeping on the windowsill, or the way she anxiously checked to make sure there weren’t any hurt or injured tiny creatures on the property. It could stay like that until I got married.
Having Elizabeth at the negotiations did not improve my mood, nor did Teacher and Command sparring over the amount of weapons allowed at the ceremony.
After some hours, we called it a day, and I went to leave but my future wife was blocking the exit.
“I have something I want to say to you, Raker,” Elizabeth said, her hands held modestly in front of her.
I flicked my eyes approvingly over my future wife. Neat, tidy dress. Beautiful hairdo. The ideal wife for me. And I knew the Elders approved of the marriage. With Elizabeth by my side, I would gain the power to expand the Saints’ reach beyond even the borders of Resurrected territory.
But also I didn’t want to hear a goddamn thing out of her mouth. I wanted to go home and get Sunni to pour me a whiskey before I pulled her onto my lap.
“Now is not the time, Elizabeth,” I said warningly.
“It’s about Sunni,” she said, and I stilled.
“What about her?”
“Are you going to keep giving her favors?” Elizabeth asked.
“What I give to Sunni is my own business,” I bit out. “She is no concern of yours and no threat to our marriage. I will not talk to you about her.”
“I have heard things,” Elizabeth said.
“What things?”
“Things like you have been giving her special favors so that she doesn’t know her own place.”
Irritation crawled under my skin.
Who had dared to talk to Elizabeth about Sunni, giving the Righteous information they could try to use against me? I felt Command waiting expectantly behind me.
I didn’t hide the streak of anger in my voice.
“Sunni is a good whore who knows her place. I will not discuss my club girls with anyone.”
“I have information,” Elizabeth persisted. “From someone who felt it was her moral duty to speak up.”
“What is this information?” I demanded.
“I have it on good authority that Sunni harbors very improper dreams about you. That’s the problem with encouraging and being too kind to whores, Raker. Because your perfect little Sunni is planning to tamper with your protection. Such a desperate and crazy whore that she’ll do anything to have your baby, Raker. You need to keep your house in order. I heard this from one of your other club girls,
“That’s troubling news,” Command rumbled from behind me. “I’ll have to consider that in our next round of marriage negotiations. Maybe we should split the cost 70-30 if there’s a possibility one of your whores does something crazy during the ceremony.”
“Don’t worry,” I said between my teeth, anger and chagrin building under my skin. “My house will be in order.”
