Epilogue
Nina
Five Years Later
" E mmett," I moan, trying to squirm away as he steps into the laundry room, backing me up against the wall. "We don't have time for this! Nate will be here soon."
"Too bad," he growls, his lips coming down on mine in a hard kiss as he slips his hand between my legs. "If you didn't want me all over you today, you should have put panties on before you left the bedroom, Red."
I bite my lip, fighting a moan as he parts my slit, his thumb seeking my clit. I'm already soaked and sensitive. He's been all over me all dang day. Which was kind of the point when I opted not to wear underwear this morning, but Jesus. He's like the Energizer Dick Bunny.
The man never runs out of stamina.
We're going to run out of clean towels, though. And I need to shower before my brother gets here. We also need to get the baby dressed and pick up the boys.
"Emmett," I moan, rocking against his hand. "You're such a jerk."
He grunts, spinning me around. His free hand presses against my shoulder. I fall forward over the edge of the washer.
"How many times do I have to tell you, baby?" His hand slides down my ass. "If you call me names, I get to spank this gorgeous ass."
I bite my lip, swallowing a cry of ecstasy as he slaps my ass, sending a jolt through me. I shouldn't love it so much, but I do. And he knows it, damn him. After five years, there isn't much he doesn't know about me and what I like.
He knows everything. And he uses it against me to keep me blissed out and living in a bubble. I love it so much. My life was never a fairytale until this stupid-hot firefighter carried me out of the flames and claimed me as his own.
I love him like crazy. He's everything I would have asked for had I known to ask. This life is exactly what my mom would have envisioned for me. It's beautiful. So damn beautiful.
His hand lands against my cheek again.
I cry out, coming all over his fingers.
"Fuck," he growls, dropping to his knees behind me.
I bury my face in the clean laundry, moaning in ecstasy as he spreads my cheeks, eating me from behind. Filthy sounds rip through the laundry room, snarls and groans and wet sucking sounds.
I rock back against his face, trying like hell not to scream his name and wake up the baby.
"I know you're right there, baby. Give it to me," he orders, flicking his tongue against me as he smacks my ass again.
I bite my tongue, unraveling all over again. My legs shake, threatening to give out. He drags me down onto his lap, wrapping his arms around me. I melt against him, breathing hard.
"You nervous about meeting Nate's girl?" he asks, brushing hair out of my face.
"No." I huff out a breath. "Yes. What if she doesn't like me? I want her to like me, Emmett. Nate says he's going to marry her!"
They haven't been together long, but he's crazy about her. She's one of his teammate's sisters. He's been in love with her for a while but they only got together recently.
I'm so excited to meet her. I'm excited he'll be back home for a few days. Well…sort of. I moved to Silver Spoon Falls with Emmett right after Nate went to college. We built our dream house a few years ago. Nate has never lived here, but it's his home too. And he has the house in Granite Hills, too. I signed it over to him when Emmett and I built this place so he'd always have his own place close to us.
"Baby," Emmett says quietly, chuckling. "She already loves you. You talk on the phone all the time."
"This is different." I roll my eyes at him. "She's coming to visit. We're meeting for the first time. She might decide she doesn't like Real-Life Me as much as she likes Phone Me."
He grins at me, pressing his forehead to mine. "Promise me you'll never change, Nina Madden. I need you this cute the rest of my fucking life."
"I'm not trying to be cute, Emmett. I'm serious."
"I know. That's why it's so fucking cute. Jesus." He crushes his lips to mine. "Thank you for giving me a little girl just like you."
"She might be like you," I protest. "She's barely three months old, Emmett. We don't know what she's going to be like yet. Besides, your sons are just like you. Clearly, your genes are the strongest."
"Nah, she's just like you. I can already tell. And Ava is going to love Real-Life You just as much as everyone else does. It's impossible not to love you." He kisses me again, nibbling on my lips. "You ready to stop torturing me with this perfect body now?"
"I am not torturing you with my body," I lie.
He chuckles through a groan, his jade eyes locked on my face. "Baby, you're a terrible liar. You've been flashing that hot little pussy at me all day because you know damn well that if I see it, I'm eating it."
"Have not," I mumble.
He nips my bottom lip.
"Yeah, you have. I'm your favorite distraction, Red." He smirks at me, hauling us up from the floor. "Having my hands on you calms you down like nothing else. But I suggest you get your gorgeous ass to the shower unless you want me to prove it."
"We don't have time for you to prove it!" I squeak, grabbing an armload of towels as I race past him. "Keep your hands to yourself!"
I barely even make it into the kitchen before I hear his heavy steps behind me and grin. There's no way he's keeping his hands to himself. Which means there's no way I'm getting in that shower alone.
Best life ever.
It's strange, but in a way…I'm almost grateful to Alexei Palatov. Trying to kill me wasn't okay. Of course it wasn't. But because he did, I met Emmett. My life turned out the way it did because of what he did. He paid for his crimes. From what I understand, he was killed in prison not long after being convicted.
I guess maybe that was his fate.
And Emmett and our babies are mine. Ava and football are Nate's. It took us a long time to find happiness. It took us years to bounce back from everything we went through as kids. But we did it. We made it.
It was worth it.
This life—loving Emmett—is worth anything.
