Devon
I f she wasn’t my mate then the universe was a cruel place. Her scent still lingered on my skin, a subtle but intoxicating reminder of what we’d done.
Every time she looked at me now she couldn’t hide her smile or the flush to her cheeks. My omega was expressive and gorgeous.
Thank god Grace stayed over at Mama Whitaker’s last night or she would hate us both.
Nash didn’t call us out on our breathless laughter as we answered, he just said he’d be here to pick us up in fifteen minutes.
That was enough time for us to brush our teeth, fix our hair, and get dressed. Neither one of us attempted to shower. She liked the mental image I gave her enough to test our alpha.
My plan was to tease our alpha enough he’d be ready to throw it all in for us. Then again, he’d already talked about moving in together. There was no hesitation there.
He wanted his omegas close and honestly, even if I didn’t admit it, I wanted that just as much.
Now that I had a taste of waking up next to my omega, there was no other option but to steal her away night after night. We could even alternate nests if she wanted.
Wren slid her feet into her black combat boots. She was sporting faded jeans, another band tee, and a high pony with little wisps of blonde hair hanging around her face.
I hated to admit it, but I might just have to make her help me clothes shop. My wardrobe could use a bit of Wren’s flare.
While we waited on the sidewalk, I pulled her back to my chest, wrapping my arms around her, tucking her under my chin and simply existing with her in my arms.
“Tell me you don’t mind the touching? I’ll stop if I have to.”
“With you I don’t mind,” she admitted. “Anyone else would get punched.”
“Good, because you’re all mine… for now,” I amended, since I’d be sharing her with Nash any minute.
“What do you think he has planned for us?” she asked around a yawn. “Aside from the coffee and breakfast I was promised?”
“I’m not sure, I don’t have a read on him yet. He might be the sappy romantic type, or the fun type, it could honestly go either way.”
The rumbling of Nash’s pickup truck had us both watching intently. He parked, and I held my breath to see if he was going to honk or wait for us.
I was pleasantly surprised as he jumped out quickly, rushing around to greet us.
“Is it wrong that I missed you?” he asked, giving us a sheepish smile as he forcibly stopped himself from rushing at us like a psycho. His gaze flickered to our omega. “How are you feeling today?”
Internally, I melted. There was just something perfect about watching my alpha taking care of our omega that had me swooning.
She smirked, giving me a look before answering. “Devon here made sure I had the best wakeup so I’m feeling great.”
“I’m glad he took care of you,” Nash grinned. “Hopefully next time I’ll be there to help with that recovery. I know how bad it is after a big panic attack.”
He froze, realizing what he said.
“Nevermind, forget that. Hopefully there is no next time,” he said, giving us each a kiss on the cheek. He was quick enough he didn’t freeze until after he pulled away, a low groan escaping him.
“You’re both trying to fucking kill me,” he protested as he put another step between us. “If you don't want to go right back upstairs, we should go.”
He reluctantly walked to his car and held open the door.
“Whose in the middle?”
“Me,” Wren chirped as she sashayed her hips past us and let him help her into the cab. She slid over and already started messing with the radio.
“She looks good in there doesn’t she?” he said, giving me a grin.
“She’ll look even better between us,” I said as I moved past him, climbing in without his assistance. He huffed out a laugh but closed the door behind me, walking around the truck to climb in.
When he saw she wasn’t buckled in yet, he reached over and did it himself. She rolled her eyes but the small smile on her lips said she wasn’t upset about it in the least.
By the time he pulled on the street and started toward our breakfast spot she found a playlist and was already singing along softly. I’d rather her belt it like she did last night but this softer version of her was just as amazing. She looked content here between us, comfortable.
Nash pulled up at the diner. It wasn’t fancy, but I already knew their food was amazing.
It wasn’t busy at this time of the morning so we snagged a booth, both of us sitting across from Nash. He didn’t protest. The alpha looked happy just to have us with him.
“So, what’s the plan today?” Wren asked, eyes wide and excited.
“Well, I saw you were wearing a Reckless Omegas shirt… and I just so happen to have some connections,” he said, dragging out the words to build anticipation. It was working because she was practically bouncing out of her seat now.
“What did you do?!” she demanded. Our waitress had awful timing, sliding up to the table with a peppy grin and order book in hand.
“Welcome in, what can I get you?” This wasn’t the same waitress we had our first visit here, but that was probably for the best. This one was a lot more enthusiastic.
“Coffee, cream and sugar, the chocolate chip pancakes and hash browns,” Wren ordered without skipping a beat.
“Any meat or eggs?” Nash prompted, probably noticing her lack of protein.
“I’m a vegetarian, but I’m not feeling eggs today. I’ll eat more protein with lunch,” she said easily.
“Does it bother you if we eat meat?” I asked, wincing as I realized I’d missed this entirely.
“No, of course not,” she said. “Order away. Even I know bacon smells amazing.”
“It tastes even better,” Nash joked, before putting in his own order.
“The same pancakes as her and a side of bacon,” I added. “And coffee.”
As she moved away, Wren was already focused back on Nash. “Now spill, alpha.”
“I like the way you say that,” he teased, before reaching in his pocket and pulling out a stack of tickets, sliding them her way across the empty table.
Her gasp and squeal had everyone looking over at us, even more so as she literally launched herself over the table to crush him in a hug. Her scent swelled in the air, no longer just subtle, but a quick burst of potent perfume before dulling again. Just a glimpse but my heart was pounding in response.
It was incredible. Vibrant and sweet and I found myself inhaling trying to catch more of that scent.
Nash noticed, too, his eyes locked on me as shock filled them. She didn’t notice as she pulled away, already gushing about the band.
“I hope it’s okay that I chose something she liked,” he said, reaching over for my hand. I let him wrap his fingers around mine.
“I’m always excited to go out and have a good time,” I promised. “Plus, next time will be my turn.”
“It is,” he agreed. “I’m paying attention to what you guys like so I can plan accordingly.”
I loved that he was observant enough to pick things out we loved. Though, I doubt he’d be able to sniff out my love for dinner theater.
There was just something about the cheesy, gimmicky performances that made me so happy.
“I should have worn a different shirt,” she said, glancing down at the band that was definitely not Reckless Omegas .
“Don’t worry, I have that covered, too,” he said with a grin. “My sister helped me find some merch for us at the closest mall. We’ll fit right in.”
“You really thought of everything,” she said, impressed enough she gave me a look that said, ‘can you believe this’, but I was still focused on that scent she hit us with.
Her omega was waking up, and I was more certain than ever she was mine.
The rest of the day leading up to the concert I was waiting for more bursts of her omega. Maybe it had something to do with us forming this pack that caused it, but I wanted more, a confirmation that I wasn’t just going crazy.
Wren was the epitome of excitement as we walked up to the venue. We had on matching band tees and she made Nash stop at the drugstore to grab some makeup, somehow making herself look sexy as hell while he drove us here, her eyes now lined in hot pink and smokey gray, black lipstick, and even her hair was teased more to fit the vibe.
I hadn’t escaped unscathed. She happily lined my eyes in a sexy smudge of black I’d never worn before. I kind of loved it.
She was in her element now. The energy in the venue was insane. People were already excitedly screaming and singing the lyrics in the crowd.
Nash snagged us seats in the front row, so his claims to having contacts were clearly true.
All I know is that this first date would be hard to top.
The all-omega group walked out on stage and I realized just how perfectly Wren matched their aesthetic of black and pink. They were full of energy and yelling out at the crowd, hyping them up. Us along with it.
Soon I was swept up in the energy, singing along to the familiar songs and dancing my ass off to the rest. I’d been to concerts before, but coming with Wren was a whole new experience.
She was singing at the top of her lungs and reaching out to the band as they passed by. The lead singer reached down, giving her a fist bump and a wink that had our girl turning and jumping onto Nash like she was climbing a tree.
The kiss she planted on his lips was hot as fuck, full of tongue and teeth, his scent swelling enough the people around us shot them dirty looks.
Me? I was captivated. They were hot as fuck together. I couldn’t wait to get them both in my nest.
She let go as they started up the next song, rushing back to me to hook our arms together as she launched into another round of backup vocals.
Nash moved in closer, pressing himself against our backs, a hand resting on each of our hips as he joined in.
When he started singing along, too, I burst out laughing. It was funny how unexpectedly perfect they both were.
I almost wished I had a family or close friends to show them off to, but after I left home, I spent so long looking for companionship in all the wrong people. Even my friendships were shallow and one-sided, always resulting in me being left behind or used.
I’d barely known these two for more than a few days and I already knew that they’d never do that to me.
As the band finished their last set, they started tossing their guitar picks and drumsticks to the crowd. The same omega that fist bumped Wren earlier walked over to hand over a set of drumsticks to her with another wink.
“Congrats on your new pack, girl.” Wren gasped, clutching them to her chest as she turned to Nash who was grinning like the Cheshire Cat.
“You did all this for me?”
“For us,” he corrected, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear and smiling softly.
We were both hanging on every word, her because of the incredible night, and me because our alpha was absolutely a romantic and I was loving it.
“I want my omegas to know I’m all in, head over heels already, and more than ready to court you both because you deserve this done right.”
