Chapter 26

Wren

D evon brushed eyeshadow over my eyes while he sang softly to the playlist he had queued up. We hadn’t gotten dressed yet, but we were both going through our skincare and makeup routine.

For Devon, he just did a tinted moisturizer and a setting powder to even out his skin tone.

Nash wouldn’t tell us much about our date, only to dress up.

Those were magic words for my mate. Devon dragged me to three different stores before we found a matching outfit. His was a patterned tux that was black with a textured, damask pattern over it, and the undershirt was a deep plum that was gorgeous.

My dress was the same shade of purple, a soft lace covering the neckline and arms.

Since I wasn’t a fan of heels, he found a pair of flats. They were both comfortable and a perfect pairing to my outfit.

He even begged me to let him do my hair and makeup. If it made him happy, I wasn’t going to deny him anything.

When Devon smiled, he lit up the room, and it warmed me from the inside out. I was quickly becoming addicted to it, and now I understood why alphas craved spoiling their omegas, because I wanted to do the same thing for Devon.

“Where do you think he’s taking us?” he asked as he put the brush down and carefully wiped off the remnants from my cheeks.

I kept my eyes closed while he brushed the rest of my makeup on, finally ending with mascara and a tinted lip gloss.

“I’m not sure, but I’m excited,” I admitted. “We get to dress up. I feel like I haven’t been able to do that in a long time.”

“Well, you look ravishing, my darling,” he said, helping me up and turning me toward the mirror.

My eyes widened as I took myself in. He hadn’t gone all out or crazy, it was just the perfect amount. A subtle smoky eye, contouring that accentuated my features, my eyes bright and shining against the dark eyeshadow. The tint on my lips was just enough to draw attention.

I loved it.

My hair usually wouldn’t hold a curl, but somehow he’d done witchcraft with that curling iron and whatever sprays he used because right now, there were soft curls draped around my shoulders.

“Let’s get you in the dress,” he said, pulling it from the hook and helping me into it. Eventually, he turned me around, zipped it up, and then laid my hair meticulously around my shoulders so everything was perfect.

Devon stepped away to put on his suit. My eyes tracked over every inch of him that he exposed. He was too busy to notice, but I took in everything from the perfect rounding of his ass, to the slight tone of his muscles, the small dusting of hair, and the softness that he had. My omega was gorgeous.

By the time he had his suit on and turned back around for me to see, I was practically drooling.

This man looked absolutely divine.

The tailored suit was cut perfectly, accentuating the softness of his omega side while still keeping his masculine build.

He was taller than me, and when he tucked me into his side in the mirror, I couldn’t help but think that we looked perfect together. He was just tall enough that his arm draped easily over me, and now, with us matching and all dressed up, I needed to commit this moment to memory forever.

“Ready to make them eat their hearts out?” I said, grinning at him in the mirror.

“Oh, hell yeah,” he said, taking my hand and leading me down the stairs.

“Everybody better get their cute asses in the kitchen and appreciate their omegas!” he called out.

Braxton was the first to appear, stuttering over his words before finally settling on, “You guys look incredible.”

Nash let out a whistle. “And I get to have you on my arm tonight? Everyone is going to be jealous.”

“Firecracker, little dove…” Shepherd trailed off, shaking his head like he thought we might disappear, like we were just an illusion. “Breathtaking. We are some lucky bastards.”

“Yes, you are,” Devon said as Nash and Shepherd helped us off the final step. Thank god I was not wearing heels, I would’ve embarrassed myself before this night was over.

The drive was longer than I expected, taking us almost an hour to get into the city. By the time we got there, evening had fallen, making the lights even brighter.

“This is the one thing I miss about the city. Aren’t they beautiful in their own way? I mean, it can’t beat the mountain views, but this is still incredible.”

“It is, and at least we get the best of both worlds,” Devon said. “We can come in anytime we want. We could even rent a suite, spend the weekend enjoying the city, get our country boys out of there. Surely, Shepherd can hire someone to take care of the animals temporarily.”

“I’m sure,” Nash said. “If you guys want it, we’ll make it happen.” He sounded so sure of himself that I couldn’t doubt that he’d follow through.

“So, where are we going?” I questioned instead.

“Devon told me that dinner theater is his favorite, and I found something that I thought might be perfect.”

Devon squealed. “Are you kidding me? Best alpha ever.” He placed a sloppy kiss right on Nash’s cheek, the alpha chuckling.

“Don’t let Shepherd hear you say that, or he’ll have something to prove.”

“You’re very different alphas. There’s no comparison,” Devon waved him off.

Thankfully, once we got to the city, it only took about fifteen more minutes to get to our destination.

It was a huge theater downtown, the marquee sign out front telling us a bit more about what we were going to experience.

“Nash, is this what I think it is?” Devon said, leaning closer to the window as if it would give him more answers.

“Dine with a cinema?” I questioned, reading the sign.

“It’s this whole experience where they play a clip of the movie while you get served whatever they’re eating in the movie, and then they go through tons of courses, just small portions.”

“And this one has a symphony that will play along with the scores in the movie,” Nash said.

“This is amazing,” Devon whispered in awe. Everything from the city lights, the fancy theater, and the prospect of dinner had him lighting up.

Nash pulled right up front, handing over a VIP valet ticket.

“He has the best connections,” I muttered to Devon, who just shook his head, still speechless.

We were quickly swept inside to a VIP table on the edge of a balcony overlooking the stage and the symphony that was settling into their chairs.

The waitress came around almost the second we were seated, a flirty smile on her face, until I narrowed my eyes. Apparently, I was feeling possessive lately.

“What can I get you?” she offered, looking at me this time instead of the others. “We have a full wine list, a full bar. Everything’s included with your ticket.”

“What are your non-alcoholic options?” I questioned. As much as I’d love a glass of champagne, it wasn’t in the cards for me anymore, at least not for another eight months.

“We can make any of our signature drinks into a mocktail form,” she promised. “We also have an array of sparkling juices.”

I looked at the list sitting in the middle of the table quickly before choosing a sparkling blackberry mocktail.

“You know what? I’ll have the same,” Devon said. “Solidarity, baby.” He gave me a wink.

“I’ll have a beer,” Nash said, to no one’s surprise.

As soon as she was gone, Devon whipped his head back to me, grinning like a madman.

“Was that a little growl I heard when she walked up?”

“She was checking you out,” I pouted, not even apologetic in the least. “She should keep her eyes to herself.”

“I think I kind of like you possessive,” he teased, scooting his chair a little closer so that his hand could easily rest on my thigh. Anytime he was sitting by me, that was his favorite move, and I loved it. It was comforting and made me feel protected.

Nash moved his chair, too, sandwiching me between them so we had a better view of the stage.

The symphony started playing a soft melody as everyone found their seats, and before we knew it, they were starting the first round.

“This is from The Hidden Omega ,” the waiter said, giving us a rundown of the fantasy movie. “There’s a disastrous dinner party where the omega uses the salad as a diversion. Ours is a bit less explosive.”

The symphony started to play in the background as the screen lit up with the scene in question, salad plates being placed in front of us.

It was absolutely amazing. The flavors were incredible, and the salad was fresh and crisp. I was already loving the entire experience. I’d never done anything like this before.

Devon was practically moaning at every bite. He was truly in heaven.

Then the soup course was brought out. I didn’t recognize the movie on screen—it was an action movie—but the soup was still incredible.

I hadn’t realized just how many courses were coming out until we were on the fifth and hadn’t even reached the main. Everything was small, just enough to give us a taste and the experience before it was swept away.

The staff truly had it down to a science.

Even the waitress, who I was eyeing in the beginning, was great, refilling our drinks anytime they went below half and giving us amazing intros to each course.

When it got to the main course, a roast chicken dinner as yet another movie played on the screen. This one I recognized from childhood, a cute cartoon that had a bit of a gothic twist.

I was thankful my morning sickness hadn’t shown back up. I was devouring everything they brought out, even if I couldn’t enjoy the chicken. Mine was still an amazing mock chicken that was seasoned perfectly.

Nash gave me a wink when I realized they were accommodating my vegetarian meals. He really was the most thoughtful alpha.

By the time they got to the final round, a decadent chocolate cake from a cute romcom, I was stuffed.

Devon was practically glowing with happiness as he soaked everything in. He’d taken pictures of each course, posting them to his packVlog and gushing about the night.

Having a night out made it so much easier to forget the awful omega who had tried to ruin my week only a few days ago. I’d warned my lawyers about what happened, but they weren’t concerned, and so I wasn’t going to let it get to me.

As they swept away the last course, Nash helped us out of our chairs and back outside to the valet.

Instead of driving us out of town, Nash drove us to the pier overlooking the lake.

Once we got to the sand, I kicked off my shoes, hiking up my dress in one hand and holding my shoes in the other. My mates were pushed into my sides, both barefoot as we walked slowly down the shore.

It was beautiful, the moonlight reflecting off the water, giving just enough light that it felt ethereal out here.

My gaze caught on Devon for a moment. The moonlight reflecting on his skin made him glow in the sexiest way. I turned toward Nash, and he had the same appeal, as the moonlight accentuated his rugged, alpha features. His hazel eyes were looking down at me, brimming with happiness, and I was glad I wasn’t the only one feeling this.

“Is it weird for a pack to get married these days?” I asked. “I feel like everyone mostly bonds and makes the pack official, and leaves it at that.”

“If that’s something you want, we can make it happen,” Nash said, thinking it over.

But then my eyes caught on Devon. I could see the mischief in his eyes and the plan forming already.

We were about as unconventional as a pack could be, and this was only one more thing to add to the list.

Maybe we were going to have to propose to them .

Then we wouldn’t have to wait, because we were all about claiming what we wanted and manifesting the life we deserved.

As Nash started walking, Devon leaned in.

“You’re thinking what I am, right?”

“Oh yeah,” I agreed. “Time to go ring shopping.”
