Chapter One

brOOKE

After my group, Seven Belles, performed, a wave of pain hit my lower stomach making me double over as soon as I left the stage.

“Are you okay?” Jem asked.

“Yeah, girl. I think I need to sit for a spell.” But then it doubled up, almost knocking me to my knees.

“Are you sure?” She eyed me suspiciously.

No. I thought.

“Yeah.” I went to sit and felt my pussy gush with wetness that I knew was bad. I checked my phone and verified what the date was.

Shit!

Last month it came three days early, but I’d been tracking the medication that I was on.

It was becoming less effective and I’d gone to the doctor for it.

There was a waiting list for the better quality Omega drugs and I was on it.

That didn’t matter when it was getting harder and harder to predict how many days early it was going to wear off.

This time it was an entire week early and I hadn’t filled my prescription yet.

I noted the time and cursed. 10:58 p.m. There was no time to get it now when they closed at 11 and were thirty minutes away.

However, I wasn’t safe walking around like this for multiple reasons.

Human men couldn’t handle the smell. It drove them crazy and they’d do anything for a taste of my slick.

Beta men were safer, they’d bow at my feet and ask to be of service though their semen only added to an Omega's arousal. It didn’t fix it.

Alphas were the worst. They’d fight, kill, and take what they wanted if they were denied.

I needed to get the fuck out of here.

Dialing Ω11, I waited on the line for them to answer. They were a non-profit started by an Omega to keep us safe since humans didn’t know about us, Alphas often used and abused us, and Betas submitted to Alphas. This was our way of keeping one another safe.

“Omega one one, what’s your emergency?” The operator asked.

“I’m in a very public space and my heat just started.” I whispered into the phone as I made my way to the bathroom.

“Do you have any suppressants? Why aren’t you already taking them?" She asked quickly.

“Not with me. The ones that I do take have worn off a week early.” I sighed, ashamed to admit it.

“That means you’ve been on them too long. How old are you?” She asked.

“Thirty two.”

“You need twice as much as the bottle suggests if you’re taking Lavendereaux. Or are you taking Orangé? I’ll see what the rescue team has available.”

“Lavendereaux.” I panted, as heat floored my body. I had the door locked, hoping that would be enough buffer to keep my scent from spreading too much.

“Address?”

“7833 Rosendale Rd. I’m in the Zupas Performance Hall. The bathroom right outside of the stage, please hurry.” Another wave of heat hit me and I wanted to strip my clothes off so bad.

The leather body suit with chains seemed like a sexy thing to wear when the night started, but now it was trapping in the heat making me sweat so much that I was completely soaked underneath. I couldn’t tell what was happening where.

“Is there a shower in there or something to lower your body’s temperature?”

I looked around and panicked. “No.”

I knew the risks. If I didn’t get meds or rut soon, I was going to be in a considerate amount of pain.

“Are you able to remove your clothes?” She asked.

“I’m positive that no one is in here, but what will I do when they get here to escort me out?”

“They have reinforcements. Get those clothes off.” She said.

I did and immediately became less agitated. The air also seemed to be washing over me like a teasing lover. Stroking my nipples and thighs to let me know it was here to undo me.

“Five minutes out.” She said to me.

I put my hair up in a ponytail to get it off my neck.

It offered relief for a while before the next wave of heat hit.

It seemed to echo back from the walls, making my entire body vibrate.

I closed my eyes so that I wouldn’t start to hyperventilate.

I focused on my breathing and tried not to feel the temperature spike or the way the walls seemed to be closing in around me.

“Brooke? They need you to open the door so they can get in. You’ll hear a rhythmic tap and then you’ll open, ready?”

Has it been five minutes already? I tried to stand but was too dizzy to get to my feet. The world tilted, curved, tumbled, and even flipped upside down every time that I tried.

“I can’t.” I muttered, gritting my teeth through the knots twisting in my groin.

“They’ll have to break it down. Are you clear of the doorway?” She asked.

I rolled free of the frame, falling over to be out of the way. “Yeah.”

Moments later there was a load boom followed by a huge cloak put over me.

There was a cleanser misted in the bathroom, deodorizing the space.

Then I was scooped up and whisked from the bathroom.

They moved so quickly that I could barely keep up.

I was going to protest but there were footsteps following us and I could hear fighting nearby.

“When you’re inside the vehicle, I need you to lock the door and make sure that the partition is closed and locked as well.” The operator said to me.

I was tossed inside quickly, and I almost didn’t recover in time.

I could see the men approaching and the only thing keeping me safe was the lock on the door.

I activated it and then turned to the partition.

It was parted and I jumped up to close it, but not before I smelled the most wonderful scent I’ve ever experienced.

It reminded me of rain, forest leaves, and rose vines.

I heard a low growl and it pulled me back into the moment. I shut it and locked it as the van sped away from the scene. I looked out the back to see men following us. They would until the scent faded from their subconscious.

“There’s Lavendereaux in the cabinet to your right. Take three of them. That should pause your heat and make it rescind.” The operator said.

“Thank you.”

I found it along with a bottle of water. I swallowed it, but then there was a sudden bout of nausea that took hold. I tried to hold it down and fire seemed to engulf my abdomen. Like a volcano, it erupted up from where it came and out of my mouth along with the contents of my belly.

“That’s not a good sign. When was your next dose?” She asked.

“A week from today.” I said between dry heaving.

“When was your last dose?” She asked.

“Three weeks ago on the 18th.”

“One… Two… Three…” she sighed. “I think it wore off before now, but you’re just noticing it. You can’t mix it with the other medication because they have adverse reactions unless it’s been out of your system for five days. Let me talk to the driver, can you hold please?”

“Yes.”

I looked around for something to clean the floor with and came up short. It was some kind of utility van that had been stripped down to its bones. It was being converted into something, but I wasn’t sure what.

“Brooke, we’re going to take you somewhere safe. You’ll just have to trust me.”

“Okay.” I sighed.

It wasn’t like there was a hospital nearby for these kinds of things. The closest one was two hours away and I’d never make the drive.

When we pulled into an underground garage, I was surprised to hear the door close behind us. Then the driver got out and went inside the side door, leaving me in the van.

“You’re going to give him a few minutes and then follow. You’ll need to shower to get rid of your scent as much as possible. I’ll call you back when we’ve figured something out.” The line went dead and I stared at the phone in shock.

Did she really expect me to walk into this beast’s lair? I’d heard that growl. He was anything but safe. Definitely not human. It sounded like something from another world and there was nothing to save me but my good intentions, hopes, and wishes.

No…

Another wave of heat knocked me on my ass and I couldn’t breathe.

“Fuck!” I shouted, unable to hold it in any more.

The tears came from somewhere foreign and didn’t let up as I sobbed in the back of this damn van.

I needed help, and going inside didn’t seem like the answer.

I was going to sit here forever, and maybe the pain would eventually stop, right?

Wrong. It grew so bad that I began shaking and I went in and out of consciousness.

Then everything turned black and the world faded away and never came back.

Is this what heaven is like? Or maybe hell? Because the pain didn’t stop because I couldn’t stay awake for it. It took over, wrecking havoc and without me being able to try to stop it, it was relentlessly beating me up like I’d tried to take away its lunch money, unsuccessfully at that.

When I thought it couldn’t get any worse, the flame roared all over my body in rapid succession, teaming up with pain, and the son of a bitch that liked to tie knots in my stomach.

A triple threat that sent me into a coma like state.

Goodbye world. Because I just knew this was the end.
