2. Aaron
“ Uh-oh, someone looks like he just got the bill for the wedding,” Spencer joked as the waitress brought out the overpriced, watered-down happy-hour drinks.
“Why do we always have to go to happy hour? I will pay. Can we just go to a normal bar?” I complained.
Finn was shocked and offended. “Why would we waste that kind of money?”
“Someone needs to get laid. Is Daisy too busy with wedding planning to pay attention to you?” Graham teased.
“No.” I glared down at my drink.
Grayson reached over, grabbed the back of my neck, and gave me a gentle shake. “What’s wrong, Aaron?”
“Nothing.” I scooped the ice out of the drink and dumped it on the coaster. “I don’t think Daisy wants to marry me,” I said in a rush. “She’s been weird lately and—never mind.”
“Of course she does,” Grayson assured me. “She and Lexi spend time together doing—well, I don’t know what they’re doing, and I’m afraid to ask. Lexi says Daisy is, quote, ‘pumped about the wedding.’”
My jaw felt tight. “I’m concerned that she’s just going along with the wedding because she feels obligated, like she pities me.”
“Or maybe she’s mad Michelle and Bill are planning the rehearsal dinner,” Graham said as he and Spencer exchanged a look.
“I couldn’t just tell Michelle no,” I argued. “She’s trying to extend an olive branch.”
Finn cleared his throat. “More like a grenade tied to a fishing pole.”
