My Life Plan

Things I want to check off by the time I’m thirty.

(AKA: proof I’m not a disappointment.)

1. Pay off my student loans so my parents can stop worrying.

2. Help my sister cover her living costs while she’s a student, because she deserves to dream without limits.

3. Retire my parents even if they insist they’re “fine.”

4. Make CEO. Because I’m ambitious. And if I don’t get to the top, then what was all this for?

5. Get married in a picture-perfect wedding. This. So much this.

6. Have two kids, spaced right, who wear matching Christmas pajamas on Christmas morning. Oh, wouldn’t that be cute?

7. Make my parents proud, properly proud, not just “oh, she’s doing okay” proud.

8. Be the sister who always shows up. (No matter if I’m running on empty.)

9. Be the wife who listens and the mother who never yells (I’m going to try my best to do this without ever losing patience.)

10. Celebrate Christmas every year like it’s my job. Because I love the tree, lights, and traditions.
