Chapter 22

I knew my best friend, so I knew the perfect first date. I was still nervous because of what this moment signified. Sex was easy. We already had an intimate bond and were close. It was natural and organic connecting with her that way. I immediately felt territorial and claimed her as mine. But dating… that was different.

As I knocked on her room door, I held my breath. I wanted to give her the love and romance she deserved. Being softer with her required an intentionality I hadn’t given to other women, and she knew that. The fact that she was still willing to give us a chance meant a lot to me, and it made me want to give her more.

She was in what I loved to see her in throughout the summer—shorts and cowgirl boots. Instead of a crop top, she had on a button down shirt that she’d tied around her waist. I couldn’t stop myself from pulling her close for a kiss. My arms wrapped around her shoulders, and she clung to the back of my shirt.

“You look good, Cal.”

“So do you, cowboy. You only put your boots on if we’re going to the country. Is that where we’re going for our date?”

“Look at the teacher trying to use context clues,” I teased, smacking her ass.

She giggled and lowered her arms to my waist. It made my heart skip a beat knowing she didn’t want to let me go.

“Am I right?”

“Not quite. Let’s go.”

I led her to the elevator, and we silently took it down. I was nervous about how she’d receive this first date, but a part of me knew she’d love it. Instead of going through the garage to get to the car, we went outside.

A whimper escaped her before she looked up at me with watery eyes.

“Babe, no. Is it really them?”

I looked at the two horses and smiled. “Yep. That’s them.”

“Ah! Oh my God!” She jumped on me and hugged me before running down the steps of the patio to get to them. Cookie and Cream were two horses we learned to ride when we were fourteen. I didn’t want to work with my pops over the summer, so he sent me to the ranch to work the stables thinking that would keep me out of trouble. I wasn’t interested, but she was, so I paid enough attention to things to teach her so I’d look like an expert.

Cookie and Cream, named by Callie, were two horses that instantly gravitated to her. Cookie, the black horse, was mine. Cream, the white horse, was hers .

As she cried and loved on them, I took pictures to send to her parents and Luci.

“God, it’s been so long. I stopped visiting them after you got locked up. I can’t believe you have them. How long can we keep them today?”

“Until this evening,” I answered, heading down the steps. “But once I get the stable built back here, they’ll be with us permanently.”

She gasped and dropped her hands. Cream didn’t like that Callie wasn’t rubbing her anymore, so she gently nudged her with her head. Callie’s giggle was like music to my ears.

“I missed you, girl,” she said quietly, hugging Cream. “Are you saying what I think you’re saying, pooh? You bought them for us?”

“I did. I want this to be your home, bae. Whatever I gotta do to make you never want to leave, I’ll do.”

With a pout, she made her way into my arms. “I love them. This makes me so happy. Thank you, Rem. I don’t ever want to leave.”

That was exactly what I wanted to hear.

We climbed onto the horses and made our way to the wildflower park. Back in the day, we used to go there and talk. Plan. Pray. It was the only place I felt safe being emotional with my girl. That park, those wildflowers, they were a container for the emotions we released to each other and no one else. I had a blanket set up and a picnic basket. Roses were waiting for her too. She loved lyric-less music, so I had a jazz and classical music playlist going.

“Here,” I said, handing her the individual charcuterie board. “You and your adult lunchables.”

She laughed as she accepted. “Stop calling them that. And you know you like them too. ”

“Mhm.”

I didn’t care for wine, so I got champagne instead. After pouring us both a flute, I was finally able to relax my mind a little. So far, things were going good.

As she looked out into the setting sun, Callie popped a chocolate covered pretzel into her mouth.

“I missed this. This park, the sunsets, the starry night skies. No one has starry nights as majestic as Jasper Lane. I’ll never get tired of this view.”

I stared at the side of her face glowing under the sun as I confessed, “Neither will I.”

Our eyes locked as she blushed. Tucking her chin, she crawled over to me and kissed me. “Can I be honest?”

“Always,” I granted, setting her on my lap.

“I was scared about being honest about how I felt because I wasn’t sure a relationship with us would work. You’ve never been in a long, committed relationship. I’ve never heard of you doing anything like this for another woman. I didn’t want to risk our friendship for a romantic relationship that wouldn’t work.”

I didn’t take offense to what she said because it was true. She may have been gentle with the words, but basically, she was saying she didn’t want to settle for a nigga who couldn’t give her what she deserved. Financially and platonically, I’d always shown up for her, but this was different territory for me—for us.

“You live in my heart, Callie. Rent free.” I chuckled as I accepted how much she meant to me. “There hasn’t been a reason for me to do shit like this for any other woman. All my love has been reserved and waiting for you. And while I’m still working on accepting that I’m worthy of you, I’m going to always show up as if I am because I don’t want to lose you. ”

Her eyes blinked rapidly and mouth twisted to the side as she fought her tears. “I still haven’t gotten used to you saying sweet stuff like that.”

“Yeah, but I bet you’ve gotten used to my dick being in you.”

“Well yeah, but that’s different.” We shared a laugh as I caught a tear before it could slide down her cheek. “You are worthy of me, Rem. I didn’t even consider being your type. Knowing you desire me, that you’re attracted to me… it puts a smile on my face every day. I really do love you, pooh.”

“And I love you.” Her eyes darkened and lowered as she licked her lips. “You looking at me like you want to eat me up.”

“I do.”

My arms extended as I told her, “Feast.”

And feast she did. The way she gobbled up my dick had me moaning her name and begging her to stop, but she didn’t. Not until I shot a few babies into her mouth. Then, she straddled me for a ride.

“So good,” she muttered through trembling lips as she slid down on my dick. “So fucking good.” Cupping my cheeks, she looked into my eyes for a few seconds before kissing me.

The intimacy of it made me feel like she was fucking me instead of me fucking her, and I didn’t like that. I didn’t like how good it felt to be under her control.

“Fuck is you doing?” I asked, gripping her waist.

“Do you like it?” Her walls squeezed me as she shifted from her knees to her toes.

“Hell yeah.” I grunted, holding her tighter as she bounced up and down on my shit.

“Hmm… Good, because I don’t want to stop.”

Fisting the blanket, I resisted the urge to control her movements. I looked down at the connection of us—how wet she was. How her cream coated my dick. Her head flung back as her nails dug into my shoulders. Her trembling chin was like a bullseye for me to kiss.

With a hiss, she leaned forward and wrapped her arms around my neck. Her walls tightened and leaked as I held her close.

“You feel so good, Rem,” she almost whined as her movements jerked.

I tightened my hold against her and steadied her rhythm in preparation for her climax, because she was riding me so good I didn’t want it to end. As she came, she hummed and purred against my ear. My nut shot out of me before I could even prepare.

Lying her flat on the blanket, I took control, and the way she spread wide for me, it was clear my girl didn’t mind at all.

The Ride Back Home

“You my baby?” I asked, looking over at Callie as we rode Cookie and Cream back home.

“Yes,” she cooed, returning my gaze.

“Just my baby?”

“Yep. No one else.”

“You gonna have my babies?”

She giggled. “Mhm. How many do you want?”

“Two or three. How about you?”

“Two would be perfect.”

“Cool.”

We continued the ride in silence. After I tied the horses up, we went inside so I could show her the last surprise for our first date. She loved games of all kinds—electronic, arcade, board. I had one of the empty rooms set up as a gaming lounge.

“Ah!” The wide stance she took before rushing over to the electronic games made me laugh. “Remedy,” she whined, plopping down in the gaming chair. “I love this. Thank you! I’ma show you how much as soon as I play a few games. Get on that one and play with me.” She pointed toward the second Xbox and TV station.

“I will. Let me roll up real quick.”

“Ooh, can we order pizza?”

“Whatever you want, pookie.”

“Yay!” she cheered, putting the headphones on. For a second, I just stared at her. After our first date, we were going to end our night like friends. Nothing could have been better than this.
