CHAPTER 14 - LADY MAIREAD
THE KINGDOM OF RIAGHALBANE - 2391
T he following morning, at breakfast in my office, there was a new alert.
Och nae what is it this time?
I tried tae remain calm, sipping from my coffee. Then I placed the cup back on the saucer, and smoothed my skirt, taking a deep breath.
“Tis another message from Asgall?”
The voice said, “No new messages. Though in a local shopkeeper’s journal there is mention of large unusual storms in the region, seeming to originate near Staunton, Virginia. One occurred on June 14 another on June 15, 1775.”
“Just as I thought, tis likely Asgall using a vessel, coming and going. He is there on June 15 with my son and daughter-in-law. His vessel continues tae work.”
I took my key, unlocked the drawer and pulled out my vessel. Twas still lifeless. I placed it in front of me on the desk.
I said, “Was that the only alert?”
“No, Your Highness, a different vessel has been activated near Croft Moraig stone circle.”
“When?”
“October 9, 1683.”
“Tis likely Archibald, now he has two vessels that work.” I decided tae retrieve it, twas mine.
