Epilogue
Lourdes
Two Years Later
Building a company from the ground up was hard, and I always took pride that my family had done so. Destroying a company wasn’t as easy as it sounded, and even though I had tried my best, the bones on which Riviere Conglomerate had been founded still stood.
Even though destroying a company was hard, rebuilding it after a scandal was a bitch. The last two years had been hard, filled with tears of frustration and anger, but at the end of the day, there had been so much love.
My relationship with my father was closer than ever. The first step in making that happen was his divorce from Pricilla. His divorce was finalized a year ago after she dragged her feet. I would have found joy in her ruin, but now I just pitied her. She had a son who didn’t speak with her and a public divorce that aired some of her dirty laundry.
None of it was mine or my father’s doing. If rumors were to be believed, they came from the Caldwell family.
If she hadn’t gone to the press and made me out to be a whore who not only seduced her stepbrother but one of his best friends, I might have felt bad for her. The only reason I survived social suicide was because my father had my back.
When the door to my office opened, I smiled because only one person would come in without my secretary saying anything.
“Why are you locking the door?” I asked, even if I was already squirming in my seat.
“Because I’m going to fuck my fiancée on her desk,” Neo shot back.
I stopped looking at my computer screen so I could glance at him, and fuck he was hot.
“I missed you,” I told him as he rounded the corner of my desk so he could kiss me.
News about our engagement hadn’t broken out yet, and if we kept being careful, no one would be wiser until our wedding day. Was it a bitch having to hide my engagement? Yes, but so much of our lives had been made public that now that people had lost interest, we just wanted to stay in this peaceful state for a while longer.
Neo didn’t waste time when he bunched my skirt around my waist and sat me on the edge of the desk.
“Your father is cruel for making me go away,” he murmured against my lips.
“You know that branch better than anyone else. And it was just for a week,” I chastised him.
“Next time you’re coming with me. We can fuck on the way there.” Neo was being serious since we might have joined the mile high club a couple times already. He kissed the valley of my breasts as his hands began to slide up my thighs. Then he moved up to my jaw just as his fingers skimmed my pussy through my panties.
“You’re already soaked, baby,” he rasped. “Were you waiting for me to get back?”
All I could do was nod as he moved my panties aside so he could rub my clit with one finger.
“You’re so fucking hot, Lou. My cock got hard the second I walked into the building,” he groaned as he inserted two digits inside of me.
He was the reason I was so distracted. He sent me text after text, it was a miracle I could focus on my tasks.
I held on to his shoulders as I let out a soft gasp. He fingered me as he pulled my panties down with his free hand. Once he untangled them from my heels, he put them in his back pocket.
“You have to keep quiet, baby, unless you want everyone to know how much you get off on being fucked in your office.”
He pressed against my G-spot as he said it, causing me to whimper. With his thumb, he circled my clit. “You’re going to come on my fingers.”
I bit my lip to stop myself from moaning aloud. He had me so worked up that I was about to come.
“That’s it, baby, let go. I know your needy little pussy can still give me one more,” he growled as his thrusts came faster.
It didn’t take long until I was coming.
“You’re going to come on my cock next,” he stated as he worked his zipper. “Spread your legs, baby.”
His eyes were glued to my center as I did what he asked. Neo pumped his dick with one hand as he slid the other under my ass.
“Mierda,” I hissed as he thrust in me hard, causing my desk to slide back.
“ Fuck… So good,” he groaned against my ear. “Love this perfect pussy.”
Neo loved holding on to my ass as he fucked me. All I could do was hold on to him and try hard not to scream.
“ Mi amor ,” I whimpered, and like always it drove him crazy.
He knew I was close. He freed one of his hands so he could put it between my legs.
“Quiet, Lou, unless you want your secretary to hear how needy you are for me to fill you up.” My pussy clenched at his words, and it was only made worse when he used two fingers to play with my clit. “What would people say if they knew their CFO loved getting fucked during work hours.”
Shit.
I was so close now.
He let go of my ass so he could wrap his hand around my hair and force me to look up at him.
“You’re doing so good, baby…” he told me breathlessly. “I’m going to make you come so hard on my cock, and unless you want to walk around with my cum dripping down your thighs, then you’re going to drop down on your knees and suck me off with that pouty little mouth.”
Mierda.
I held on closer to him as I felt myself coming. My mouth pressed against his shoulder so he could muffle my moans.
“Fuck,” Neo cursed as I began to come.
As soon as my orgasm ended, he pulled out and wrapped a fist against his length.
“On your knees,” he demanded.
I obliged instantly. As soon as I opened my mouth, Neo began to fuck it. He had been just as wound up as I had because he came a few thrusts later. Once he was finished, he fixed his pants, then he scooped me off the floor, walked us over to my adjourning bathroom, and sat me on the counter.
“I love you,” he said against my cheek before he pulled back enough so he could look me in the eye.
“I love you too.”
His eyes never failed to soften when I said it back.
“You have lunch with your dad today? Or with Marie?”
“Dad left early to check on Gerald. Marie and I are going to La Parilla. I’m craving a torta.”
This made him smile.
My relationship with my grandfather was complicated. I don’t think he had done enough for me to forgive him. Surprisingly, he didn’t berate me for the stunt I pulled. My dad and I never talked about it, but I was sure he must have finally put his foot down.
A couple of months ago, he had some health issues, which had him seeking me out, but I didn’t feel the need to go check up on him. I might have forgiven my dad for how he stood back and let Gerald speak to Mom like shit, but I still haven’t forgiven Gerald for everything he said about her.
Unlike me, Neo did visit Gerald after his health scare. It didn’t bother me. Neo lost the family he was born with and was left with the one he made. Unfortunately, my grandfather was in the latter category, which meant I had to tolerate him for both Neo's and my father’s sake.
Family was weird that way.
“It’s Thursday. You’re meeting up with Celest?” I asked him as I fixed my skirt without my panties. He smirked at me since he knew I wanted them back, but I was not about to beg for them.
“Yeah, you want me to bring you a lemon tart?”
“No, I’m okay. I’m getting a big horchata. That’s enough sugar for me.”
He didn’t say more. Instead, he leaned against the doorframe as I jumped off the counter and then turned round to face the mirror so I could fix my hair.
“I have to go, or else I’ll be late,” he told me.
I turned around so he could give me a goodbye kiss. His hands went to my neck, and he tugged at the necklace holding my engagement ring as if he needed to ensure it was there.
“Give Celest my regards.”
“Will do… I’ll see you at home.”
It had been two years, and I still got that same warm feeling whenever he said that. Our home was the same apartment he bought me, but it wouldn’t be for much longer. My dad had already hinted at looking at properties near the house so we could be closer.
“Oh, and, Lou?” Neo shot back before leaving my office. “Make sure you have your notifications on when you’re out with Marie.”
This made my brows scrunch in confusion.
“Happy anniversary,” was all he offered as he closed the door to my office.
I let it go since I had most of my morning tasks to catch up on.
Neo may be the COO, but my dad made it clear who would take over the company. So, in addition to managing my branches, I shadowed my father. Everything was much easier now that the board had been wiped clean and new blood had filled it.
By lunchtime, I had forgotten all about Neo’s cryptic parting message. Leave it to Clove to be the bearer of the best news. Park Technologies were undergoing a hostile takeover. No wonder Neo mentioned that he went to see our broker.
Life had been good to me, and I had forgotten all about Tatum. He was not someone in my social circles, so I didn’t give him any thought.
“You okay, Lou?” Marie asked.
“I’m great,” I told her, feeling melancholy.
I still missed my mami. Time didn’t lessen the effect, just the pain. But that was life: we lost, we grieved, and we moved on. Life was all about adapting.
Given the chance, an enemy could turn into your biggest ally.
