Epilogue
Jada's POV
Iwalk through the spoke, humming quietly to myself after a daunting shift in the Labs.
I have too much energy for that place. The scan completes before the doors slide open, revealing the lifts.
I enter the chute, closing my eyes and thinking of Zellie.
Wherever you are, Zell, I hope you’re okay.
A little over five months have passed since she disappeared before my eyes.
The image of her green eyes full of fear and apprehension haunts me more nights than not.
She has to be okay. I refuse to believe otherwise.
The lift drops me onto my floor, and I shuffle to my door, completing the eye scan.
I swing the door open into my chambers, sighing with exhaustion after a long day and slumping onto the corner of my bed, staring out my small window into the galaxy beyond.
I really should rinse off. I hate the lingering residue and feel of the sap on my skin.
Resigned to leaving the comforts of my bed, I stand but pause after hearing a sound.
What was that? A rattle alerts me to a frame vibrating forcefully on my wall.
Without warning, the ground rumbles vigorously.
I lurch and catch myself against the wall as the frames and decor filling my home fall to the ground. What the—?
Unable to look away, I watch out my window as a light speeds towards Lunara, growing in size as it approaches. I’m forced to shield my vision and then close my eyes entirely as the light approaches our unit before swallowing me whole.
