The Moon Blessed King (Tale of Two Crowns #2)

The Moon Blessed King (Tale of Two Crowns #2)

By Lindsey Byrd

Part I

Under the watchful eye of the god of life, the earth cracked and broke.

Water filled all the empty spaces, and seas formed between each land mass as continents took shape.

Wherever Life went, Death always followed.

As the sun always rises, so too does the moon.

Even when the earth tries to block the moon from sight, always it is there.

Water shifts and changes beneath their eyes.

Life breathes new beings into existence, granting sentience and purpose to all that are touched by Water’s great will to explore.

Some of these new shapes find purpose merely by sitting still and breathing.

Others yearn to travel through the waters of the earth, disinterested in standing above ground and feeling the sun’s warm rays upon their flesh.

But one yearns for something else entirely.

It slinks, quiet and alone, and always through the night.

‘What are you?’ Life asks it, curious to hear this new creature’s name.

But it does not answer him.

It keeps its head down, and always, always, disappears.
