GLOSSARY

Aengus – the dragon of immortality.

Aisling – the only mortal princess in all the Isles of Rinn Dúin made queen of the Sidhe and Annwyn by her marriage to Lir, and later known as the not-so-mortal queen after she discovers her magic.

Annind – one of the four princes of Tilren and Aisling’s brother.

Bludhaven – a druid village in the forests of Fjallnorr.

Bres – one of the twelve original Sidhe sovereigns and the Sidhe king of the greenwood. Ina’s caera and Lir’s father.

Caera – two souls fated by the Forge.

Curse Breaker – the remedy to Ina’s sins and the curse she condemned Iod to, breeding all of humankind. Capable of restoring the long lifespans, strength, and magic to the mortals.

Cu Scáth – an Unseelie shadow hound.

Dagfin – the crown prince of Roktling and its seafaring kingdom, trained as a Faerak and both Aisling’s childhood best friend as well as her once intended before her marriage to Lir.

Danu – empress of the dryads.

Draiocht – the sentient embodiment of magic represented as a beast unique to its caster and lurking inside one’s own abyss.

Druids – humans who bear a unique sensitivity to the natural world, magic, and an admiration for the Sidhe, some going so far as to worship them.

Fear gorta – Unseelie that rots in the earth, rising when it smells living flesh and blood.

Fergus – one of the four princes of Tilren and Aisling’s brother.

Filverel – Lir’s Sidhe court advisor and knight.

Fionn – The son of Winter and Sidhe king of Winter, son to one of the original twelve Sidhe sovereigns, Delbaeth, and Lir’s brother.

Fomorians – chaotic Unseelie, orcish and rot personified, were the first to reject Lir’s sovereignty over the feywilds.

Forge – the cosmic brew from which the gods made the two realms: the Otherworld and the mortal realm.

Galad – Lir’s first knight and a descendant of both Annwyn and Iod.

Glamour – a spell designed to disguise and bend the appearance of someone or something to whims of its caster.

Heill – the capital of Fjallnorr.

Iarbonel – the second eldest prince of Tilren and Aisling’s brother.

Ina – one of the twelve original Sidhe sovereigns and the queen of the mountain kingdom Iod. Bres’s caera and Lir’s mother, gifted visions of the future by the gods before she and Iod were cursed and condemned to mortality.

Lady of Fate – the weaver of stars and destiny.

Lir – the Sidhe king of the greenwood and ruler of Annwyn, also known as the most powerful fae king in this realm or the next and the Damh Ban , meaning white stag.

Lofgren’s Rise – a peak in the Fjallnorrian north legend says hoards the curse breaker and the answers Aisling seeks.

Muirdris – the dragon of prosperity.

Murúch – Unseelie who lure sailors to their death in the open sea by either drowning or turning their flesh to stone.

Narisea – Lir’s first caera who passed tragically several centuries before Aisling and Lir’s union.

Neccakaid – chaotic Unseelie in the form of giant arachnids.

Nemed – the fire hand of the North and the high king of all the Isles of Rinn Dúin. Lir’s nemesis and Aisling’s father.

Niamh – the Sidhe queen of rain and wielder of the original Sarwen.

Niltaor – a southern Sidhe kingdom and Peitho’s homeland.

Odhran – a legendary Sidhe hero who held up the weight of the night for eternity.

Otherworld – the spiritual world and/or afterlife in Celtic mythology.

Peitho – southern Sidhe princess of Niltaor and Lir’s intended before he was promised to Aisling.

Phuka – an Unseelie who steals children and masks itself as a beautiful mare.

Racat – the dragon of power.

Samhain – the festival the Sidhe celebrate when the veil between the Other realm and their own is thinner than any other time during the year.

Sarwen – also known as the mortal slayer, Niamh’s legendary blade.

Starn – the crown prince of Tilren and all the Isles of Rinn Dúin. Aisling’s eldest brother.

Trow – an Unseelie subspecies of troll.

True Binding – a consummation of two souls that weaves their power together.

Wild Hunt – the hunt for the dragons of immortality, prosperity, and power: Aengus, Muirdris, and Racat that yielded a centuries-long war between the Sidhe kingdoms.
