Chapter Twenty-Seven

Dara

Jolie takes one final look in the mirror. “And we are good to go.” She turns back to me and strikes a pose.

Thank Silvia for that. I don't know how much more of this glam shit I can take.

Jolie struts over to where I’m leaning against the wall and puts her arm around my shoulders. “Oh, trust me, it’ll be worth it once you see my brothers’ faces,” she says, waggling her brows and sporting a mischievous grin. My cheeks heat at the mention of my warriors.

We make our way out of my bedroom door and down the stairs. The guys are kicking back on the couch. Oliver is slouched over, fiddling with a Rubik’s cube. His tongue is slightly stuck out, which is cute as. Blair and Declan are immersed in conversation, arguing about what's going on outside. At the mention of the storm, my heart squeezes. What if the storm has left Alaric and Kayla vulnerable? What if it’s actually cover for James’s latest attempt to take us down?

Trying to shake it off, I look towards Harlan. He's sitting next to Declan but looks to be off in his own world, staring off into space, so I don't pry and try to read his thoughts.

The room is suddenly silent. Looking around, I see everyone’s mouths are open and their eyes are widened. Blair smiles as he looks me up and down.

Oliver clears his throat. “Fuck me, Princess, you scrub up all right.”

I chuckle, rubbing my now sweaty hands down my dress. The guys all nod in agreement. I guess Jolie was right; I’m definitely getting laid tonight. If not once, maybe twice?

Yes, you will be, Harlan growls into my mind.

“Before you all get too carried away,” Jolie interrupts, placing her hand on her hip, “where are we having the party?”

Blair smirks. “We have set it up downstairs in the training room.”

Now I’m curious to see what they’ve done.

Blair leads the way, and the guys follow.

Harlan comes up next to me, putting his arm around my shoulders. Leaning in, he kisses my forehead. You look beautiful.

I smile at his sweet words as we make our way down into my favourite torture chamber. Music blares from inside. Just as we hit the bottom step, Harlan covers my eyes with his hands.

“What the hell?” I whine.

“It’ll be worth it. Trust us,” Declan whispers into my ear. I shiver, not expecting him to be so close.

Declan guides me into the room while Harlan still covers my eyes. When we stop, Harlan removes his hands and I cover my mouth in shock.

The training room is unrecognisable. It’s dark apart from the colourful disco lights, shining blue, green, and pink around the space. In the centre, they’ve set up a dance floor and music is blaring from the stereo. Toilet paper is hanging from the ceiling, and I giggle at the sight. They mustn't have had anything else to decorate with. But it’s the thought that counts. My eyes glisten at what the guys have done—all to keep our minds off what’s going on outside.

“Guys, it’s beautiful,” I say over the music, wiping away the tear that falls down my cheek. Shit. I hope I didn’t ruin the makeup that Jolie did.

Looking around, I find everyone smiling. Jolie skips off to the music jukebox and gets to work on picking out the next song. There’s a table set up with plastic cups and a keg. I have no idea what’s inside the keg, but I guess I’ll soon find out. Declan beats me to the table and pours some amber-coloured liquid into a cup.

“Where the hell did you get this keg and all this stuff from?”

“We have a lot of supplies kept here,” Declan answers. Handing the cup to me, he says, “Drink up.”

I don't want to be asked twice. I just bring it to my lips, tip my head back, and let the liquid roll down my throat. It's beer, but it has a lemon kick to it. It’s like nothing I’ve tasted before. Surprisingly, I love it.

“That’s some good shit,” I mutter, and take another sip.

“Of course it is.” Oliver smirks, pouring himself a cup. “It’s our brew.”

The music stops, changing to LMFAO’s “Shots”. I burst out laughing at Jolie's choice. It’s simply perfect. Maybe later we can have some real shots. For now, I will just get drunk on this beer.

After pouring myself another cup, I join Jolie on the dance floor. She claps her hands together, stepping from left to right. I laugh out loud at her dance moves. Keeping my cup in my hand, I move my body to the beat, swinging my arse, getting into the rhythm. The last time I went out was with Kayla at my old workplace. I smile at the memory; that was also the last time we had a night out together. And it won’t be the final one. I know deep down it won't … it can't be.

Trying to distract myself from my thoughts, I finish off another cup, enjoying the light buzz. Blair, Oliver, and Declan join us on the dance floor. Blair wraps his hands around my waist and we move together as one. As I lean back into his body, my eyes close. His hardness rubs against my back.

Declan approaches, taking the cup out of my hand and returns a minute later with a fresh drink. I down some, enjoying the lemon taste. It's been so long since I’ve just relaxed and let go.

Of course, we haven't had time to do this here in Silvia before, and I’m not even sure we should be doing this right now, but it does feel good to let loose, even just for the night. Tomorrow we’ll have to deal with what’s ahead, but right now, we can celebrate our recent success together. I zone back into the party just as Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies” starts playing.

Looking toward Jolie, I see her face has lit up as she continues to stomp her feet around, singing out loud in the chorus, entertaining me with her dance moves. Deep down, though, I know she’s disappointed Elijah isn't here.

With Blair dancing up a storm behind me, I enjoy this moment with my warriors. I relax back into him as he wraps his arm around my shoulders, giving me a tight squeeze. Declan takes away my cup, throwing it out of sight. Smirking, he reaches for my hands and pulls me from Blair’s embrace. I glance over my shoulder to catch Blair’s face; it falls for a second before he smiles at me, telling me it’s okay. He’ll steal me back later to play.

I can’t wait to see what playtime entails. The way this beer is going to my head, I’ll totally be up for some fun tonight. Turning back, I find Declan's eyes sparking with heat. The good thing about my warriors being able to read my mind is that I never have to speak out loud what I want—they already know the moment I think it.

Declan drops my hands, opening his arms wide in invitation. I don't hesitate to close the distance between us. The moment our bodies touch, I shiver. Our bodies mould together so perfectly—it makes sense that we’re fated to be together. The way my warriors make me feel is like nothing else. Never in my life have I felt such a deep connection to anyone, or in this case, multiple men.

He slowly moves his hands lower down my back, and everywhere he touches, my body reacts. His hands land on my arse, and he gives it a strong squeeze. Heat floods my panties in response. Throwing my head back, I can't stop the moan that slips through my lips. As I lean back, Declan grabs my hand and spins me, surprising me. I bump into something hard, and I instantly know it’s Harlan. I melt into his embrace.

He hands me a drink, which I take, and I finish it in one mouthful. The buzz going on in my head is a pure delight. A giggle bursts from my lips. I have no idea what I’m laughing about, but God, it feels good. I look up at Harlan, whonow holds me tightly against him with his hands possessively on my arse. The corner of his mouth lifts slightly in a lopsided grin just as he slaps my right cheek. I squeal andlean farther into his body. The cheeky bugger is quite pleased with himself, and as much as I want to punch him in the chest right now, I can’t because I fucking loved it. I don't know if it’s the drink talking, but I’m keen for some kinky shit tonight.

Harlan's face lights up. He leans down, and I tilt my head in the opposite direction. “You’re going to get it, my kinky vixen,” he whispers.

He bites down on my earlobe and I melt. After lowering his mouth, he kisses, bites, and sucks myneck. I’ll no doubt see marks there tomorrow, but right now, I couldn't give two fucks; it feels too darn good. His hand snags out, latching onto the back of my head. We stare into each other’s eyes. His pupils are dilated, probablymatching my own. He lowers his eyes to my mouth, running his tongue along his bottom lip.

With that one gesture, I lose it, closing the distance between us. Our lips smash together, an explosion of dominance. Our tongues come together as one. Oliver comes up behindme. That guy never likes missing out on the action.

“Get a room,” Jolie yells over the muffled music I can no longer make out.

Everything around me vanishes the moment I get intimate with my warriors. That's the impact they have on me and my body—total control. It's the only time I let go and allow someone else to take charge. Oliver's hardness grinds into myback, causing me to press myself closer to Harlan. Our mouths are stilljoined together, and I moan. He takes my bottom lip between his teeth and gently pulls back, causing mypanties to soak.

Letting go of my lip, Harlan leans his forehead against mine. Hesays, “As much as I’d lovenothing more than to fuck your brains out right here, right now …” He sensuallypulls away a fraction and looks me up anddown. “I think we should save itfor later.Let's enjoy the night before Jolie has a hissy fit.”

Harlanleans in, and kisses my cheek. He joins Jolie, who looks to be having a lot of fun byherself. Her head is back, and she’s screaming out the lyrics to Rihanna's “Disturbia”.

She yells loudly about a thief grabbing someone in the night, completely out of tune.

I lean back into Oliver and smile. We find our rhythm as our hips sway. I cover my mouth, trying to hide my laughter as I watch Blair, Declan, and Harlan on the dance floor.

They each have their own style; Blairis stiff—just nodding his head to the beat. Harlan moves his head fromside to side. Declan claps his hands to the beat, swaying his hipsslightly. Jolie is the funniest though; she’s dancing around like a ballerina, singing along. If only she knew the words! She’s mucking up almost every line, covering them with her own made-up ones. It’s hilarious.

The night goes on in much the same way; we all dance together, letting go of our responsibilities for a few hours. It’s so good to see everyone relax.

I stopped drinking about an hour ago; I want to remember everything about this night. Jolie suddenly screams and breaks into a run. She throws her hands down to the ground, attempting to do a cartwheel.

She fails epically.

She lands on her arse.

Still, she bursts out laughing.

The laughter soon turns to tears. After running over to her, I gather her in my arms. She lets go, letting out all her built-up emotions. I guess that's what happens when you have so much to drink. Something so funny turns into tears. Poor Jolie.

“Time for bed, sweetie,” I say, placing her hand over my shoulders.

She wobbles as she stands, but I manage to get her up. I’ve sobered a little bit.

Harlan takes Jolie out of my arms. “I’ve got her. You go and relax.”

My heart melts at his words. My big, stubborn leaderis such a sweetie. Who would’ve known that behind his tough exterior is a huge heart?

I sigh and walk over to join Blair, who’s sitting on the workout mat. I turn to him, but he's staring into thin air, deep in thought.

“What's on your mind?” I ask, leaning back on my hands.

He rubs his chin. “Ah, nothing you need to worry about, Princess,” he mumbles under his breath, avoiding my eyes.

I know he’s just as worried as I am about what's going to happen. He's trying to hide it from me.

Good try, Blair, but you can't hide anything from me. Not now. Not ever.

Sitting up, I take his hand and give it asqueeze. His eyes meet mine, andhe gives me a half-smile. We sit in silence in our own little bubble of peace and quiet.

Declan turns off the music and Oliver struts over with a huge, cheeky smile on his face. The mood between Blair and me changes instantly.

“What you so happy about, bro?” Blair asks, his browsraised.

Oliver's hands are behind his back, hiding something from us.That gesture, along with the cheeky grin on his face, tells me he's up to no good.

“Wouldn't you like to know,” he teases, keeping whatever he has hidden from view.

I jump up, reaching around him and trying to grab whatever he’s hiding. Heskips out of the way just as my hand touches something plastic. What thehell is that? We do a little dance, stepping side to side, both of us laughing our heads off.

“Quit it already and show me,” I whinge in my best baby voice.

He stops and gives me a lopsided grin. “How can I resist you with that cute little tone?”

Putting one hand on my hip, I wait for Oliver to spill. He shows me what he has in his hand, and I cover my mouth, holding back the laughter. He has a bag full of weed. What the hell? I didn't even think they grewthat here or knew about it for that matter. Blair jumps up, snatching the bag out of Oliver's hands. Blair’sjawdrops open.

“Where the fuck did you get this?” he asks, inspecting it thoroughly like it’s a prized possession. “This shit is good,” he comments, looking to Oliver for answers.

Oliver scratches the back of his head and chuckles. “I’ve had it saved for a special occasion.” Oliver shrugs like it’s common knowledge. “And you know Elijah. He always hassome growing at his place.”

Blairwalks off in search of something. My guess is it’s something to smoke the weed in.

“Have you gotten high before, my princess?” Oliver asks.

I fold my arms over my chest. “Is that a challenge?”

“Not at all. Just a question,” he replies smugly.

I look Oliver up and down and smirk. “I’m no angel, Oliver. You of all peopleshould know that by now.”

A muscle in his jaw jumps. I know how muchthose words have turned him on. He loves it when I’m a cheeky little minx. We stare at each other, eyes heated until Blair returns and breaks our moment.

“And that's how you roll a joint,” Blair says proudly, his shoulders rolled back, his chest puffed out.

He passes it to Oliver, whose eyes light up. He lifts it up tosmell it, his mouth shifting in the cheekiest grin. “Let'sget this bad boy lit up, shall we?”He shoves his hand into his pocket and pulls out a box of matches.

After placing the jointbetween his lips, he lightsa match and brings it to thejoint. He draws in a deep breath, then pullsthe joint out and blows a cloud of smoke. The smell is instantly overpowering, but that sweet pine causes my eyes to close. It’s been so long since I toked up. I know it’ll go straight to my head, but that’s exactly what I need right now—something to clear my mind before the sun rises. Tomorrow we’ll facewhateverJames has to hit us with.

After Blair takes his drag, he passes it to me. I place it between my lips, drawing in until the smoke hits the back of my throat. I take a second long drag, pulling in as much as I can in one hit. Letting go, I exhale the smoke and cause everything in front of me to go hazy, blocking my vision. Once thesmoke clears, I find Blair and Oliver beaming at me. Declan and Harlan join us, their expressions stuck between shocked and confused.

“What? Never seen a girl smoke before?”I ask, my voice husky.

Harlan scratches the back of his head. “Not like that. You know what you’re doing.”

I shrug like it’s no big deal and pass the joint to Harlan. Hesmiles and takes his drag. My knees start to get weak,so I sit on theground, crossing one leg over the other. The guys follow mylead.

Harlan rests his hand on my leg, and I look at him. His eyes are blazing red. A deep laugh rumbles up from my belly. I try to hold it in, but it bursts out, and thenI can’t stop laughing. Harlan joins me and we end up in hysterics. Clutching my side, I fall backwards, still laughing my head off. God, it feels good to let go.

“What the fuck are you two even laughing at?”Declan questions.

Itry toremember what set us off, but it doesn't matter; everything is funny right now.

“Harlan! He’s just so funny,” I say between giggles.

Oliver cackles loudly, causing me to laugh even harder. Mystomach aches in protest. My heavy thoughts fade and are replaced with happy thoughts of flying unicorns.

“Can unicorns fly?” I ask seriously. Everyone bursts out laughing.

“Iwish Icould fly,” Declan says, his voice rough.

“That would befucking amazing. Imagine that, above the world, looking down, watching everyone,” I mumble under my breath. My thoughts drift off, and Iimagine flying above Silvia. “Can you fly, Oliver?”

“I’m an animal shifter, Dara. Of course I can fly.”

“Will you take me flying one day?”

“Of course. Anything for you.”

My eyes light up thinking about how cool it would be. My warriors are bloody amazing, and I’m so lucky to call them all mine.

Blair taps my arm and passes me the joint. I draw in.The smoke gets caught at the back of my throat, and I sit up and cough heavily. Blair pats me on the back just as Declan appears in front of me with a drink. I smile at him gratefully. I take a huge gulp, not realising what it is before it’s too late. I cough again, choking. It tastes lethal, like straight liquor.

“What the hell was that?” I grit out, my brows drawn together.

Declan kneels in front of me, chuckling. “Just somegood straight alcohol. Sorry. It’s all I could find.” He shrugs.

I scrunch up my face. “All good. Just warn me next time, okay?”

My fingers start to tingle. The sensation moves up my arms at a rapid pace. Looking down at my hands, I get sucked in—they’re so cool. Moving them around, I check out every detail frommy fingernails to my palms with their indented lines.

Declan takes my hands, distracting me. I have no idea how much time has passed. I look up at him, finding he’s sporting a cheeky grin.

“What's got you so zoned out, missy? Is it something to do with these cute little hands?” he teases, giving them a squeeze.

Fluttering my eyelashes at him, I say, “How cool are hands?”

Hechuckles. “I think someone needs to get ready for bed. This weed is killing your brain cells.”

My face falls. “No, you party pooper,” I whine, not wanting this night to end. I’m having too much fun. But my body feels heavy like a tonne of bricks weighing me down. I fall towards the ground. Someone’s strong arms catch me, pulling me in against the hard lines of a warm body.

“Come on, Princess. It’stime for bed,” Blair’s voice whispers into my neck.

I groan in protest just as everything goes black.
