Chapter Twenty-Three

Ijust came for the fourth time around Grey’s impressive dick when I hear Jack banging on the bedroom door.

“I swear, Grey. If you don’t get off of my sister I’m going to come in there and beat the shit out of you.”

“Come on, King.” I hear Benny’s deep chuckle, “I’m sure we kept them up last night. I’ll make you coffee.”

Jack’s fading growl is the last thing I hear. Grey and I laugh for a moment before he pulls me out of bed and we walk to the connected bathroom.

After another quickie in the shower, Grey and I finally wash up. Forty-five minutes later, we’re sitting around the kitchen table with Jack and Benny, drinking coffee.

“So,” Benny breaks the silence. “Obviously whoever is stalking you has escalated. The concern now is the timing.”

“What do you mean, timing?” I raise my brow at him.

“Grey comes home and y”all start getting closer.” He doesn’t bother to continue.

“You think it’s because they think they’re going to lose her to me?” Grey’s voice cuts in as he pulls me closer to him.

“Yes.” Benny says before bringing his coffee mug up to his lips, taking a large gulp.

“I don’t understand, whoever it is would have never had me to begin with.” I look between the three of them. “What does Grey have to do with it?”

“Because, sweetheart.” Bennett’s eyes soften. “While you may have only had eyes for Grey, they may have thought you were waiting for them since you haven’t been with anyone for so long.”

No one says anything as I burrow myself deeper into Grey’s chest. If it were possible I’d be inside him with how close I’ve cuddled into him.

“I want you to think about something.” Bennett’s eyes meet Grey’s this time and he pauses for a moment before continuing. “Go home.”

From the way he raises his hands in defense, Grey and I both must have glared at him at the same time.

“I’m not saying stay gone. Come back and visit. It may give us time to figure out who’s behind this. You being here is obviously escalating things too far. Our police department is too small to handle something like this so quickly,” he explains.

“What if she comes with me?” Grey asks.

“I can’t leave,” I respond turning to him. “I enjoyed experiencing Miami with you but I don’t want to stay there. This is my home. This is where I want to live.”

“I know Kitten, and I will happily bring you back here. But, your safety is my priority.” Grey’s fingers brush against my jaw.

“I’m not leaving. They’re not scaring me away from my home anymore than they already have,” I yell at all of them.

I abruptly stand and storm out of the kitchen. I take the stairs two at a time to get back to the room Grey and I stayed in last night. Collapsing on the floor, I pull a sleeping Ellie into my lap, petting her purring body. I bury my face into her fur as the tears begin to flow.

“This isn’t fair,” I cry into her fur. I don’t know how long I’ve been hiding in here with my feelings when I suddenly hear his deep timbre from the doorway.

“You know why I named her Ellie?” Grey’s voice startles me. I look up to see him leaning against the door frame.

Why is he so damn beautiful?

“No, why?” I look up at him from under wet lashes.

“Your middle name.” He smiles shyly at me, closing the distance between us. He stands in front of me, bending down to pick me up from the floor before sitting me on the bed.

“What?” I ask, the revelation making my mind spin.

“Beautiful. If they think the best option is for me to go back to Miami for a bit I will come back here every fucking week. Ellie will start earning her own frequent flyer miles with how often I will come back to you.” He presses a kiss against my forehead, breathing me in. “I don’t fucking like this but my priority is your safety and if they tell me that it’s the best way to keep you safe, we’ll figure it out.”

I wrap my arms around his waist and he holds me against him for a moment before dropping to his knees. He takes my chin between his fingers, raising my gaze to meet his. He stares into my eyes for a long moment before his voice finally cuts through the silence.

“I love you, Ryan.” His confession breaks me all over again.
