Chapter Five
Rafael had spent the last hour or so talking to his men and planning with Rick Jones, his head of security. The one thing he asked for was that a few men come that Rick trusted completely until the threat was over. Rick knew of several and agreed to get in touch with them immediately.
Rafael walked up the stairs to his room and his anticipation grew with every step he got closer to his wife. He figured it was going to be an uncomfortable night since he’d been hard for her since looking at her picture, and it only got worse when he finally had her in person. The kiss they shared had about blown his forte not to push her, and he’d been a little unnerved by how hard it had been to walk away from her.
He showered and brushed his own teeth before closing the bathroom door until enough light came in so that if she woke up, she’d be able to see and not panic.
Faith jerked awake, and it took him a moment to settle her down before moving her into the position where he wanted her to sleep. Rafael felt how rigid she was, and he grinned against the back of her head. “Baby, you’re not going to be able to sleep if you don’t relax.”
“It’s just … can I have my own bed?”
“Absolutely not. You’re my wife, Baby. We’ll be sleeping together every night for the rest of our lives. You’ll get used to it.”
“Do you like sleeping with women?”
“I never have.”
She glanced over her shoulder at him. “Really?”
Hell, did he say anything or let it go? Then he decided she needed to know everything she could about him. “Yes. Before you, if I required a woman, I’d go to her house and then leave right after.”
“Oh,” she murmured.
“So, you see, this is new to me, too.”
She settled back against him and slowly relaxed.
He kissed the back of her head.
“Good night, Baby.”
“Good night.”
Rafael knew the exact moment she fell asleep. He closed his eyes and savored the feeling of having her in his arms. He would never admit to anyone how perfect it felt and how content he was. It was something he’d never experienced before, and he knew he could easily get used to it.
He never thought he’d enjoy sleeping with a woman, but then again, he guessed if he hadn’t met and married Faith, he would have continued using women as he had before her.
He sighed and then cringed when she snuggled up against him. Her ass was rubbing against his hard cock, and he was gritting his teeth to prevent a groan from slipping out and possibly waking her. The last thing he wanted to do was scare her.
His need for her was high. He wanted more than anything to roll her onto her back and mount her. He wanted to desperately thrust into her and take her virginity for his very own. She belonged to him now, and he wasn’t good at waiting for things he wanted.
He lifted his body enough to see her face. The muted light coming through the windows showed dark circles under her eyes. He reminded himself that she’d gone through so much lately, so she needed whatever sleep she could get. He’d be a bastard for waking her when she was exhausted. Rafael was afraid it would only get worse.
He’d let her sleep as long as she wanted, but when she woke up, she was his. He wanted the marriage consummated as quickly as possible. He tried to tell himself it was to protect her, and that was part of it. The most significant part was that he wanted to own her.
Her body, emotions, and soul were his forever. He hadn’t ever thought he’d feel possessive over a woman, but the first glimpse he caught of her, he knew she was meant to be his. Every fucking part of her belonged to him.
He gritted his teeth. The night was already half over, and he really didn’t know if he’d make it until morning to have her. Fuck. He had to control himself until she got used to him. She was as innocent as they came, and he didn’t want her running from him.
She didn’t know it yet, but he was going to take her every way a man could. He was going to train her to kneel instantly when ordered to and take him to the back of her throat or spread her legs when he was hungry for her or bend over when he needed to butt-fuck her.
Jesus. He had to stop thinking about her and sex, or he’d go out of his mind.
He thought about everything that needed to be done the next day to make sure she was safe from the monsters that wanted her. He knew he’d do everything he could to protect her.
Before long, he felt sleep drag him down. He would never have guessed when he left his house that morning that he would come back with a bride and be happy about it.
His last thought was, You just never know where life is going to take you until you’re there.
