Chapter 57

Chapter Fifty-Seven

SAM

Day Twenty

The door knocks. Odd, I think as I lounge naked on Will’s bed, a stolen red rose from the hall clamped between my teeth. ‘Come in, sexy.’

The door opens and Will shakes his hands, as if he’s trying to cover me. Behind him, Ollie slaps his hands to his eyes, as if offended. Scrambling to my feet, I tear off the light, white sheet from the bed and wrap it around me. ‘What the hell are you doing here?’

Rude, but necessary.

‘I bumped into him as I was coming up,’ Will says, eyes wide as if trying to apologise. ‘He’s saying Alec has gone.’

‘Are you decent?’ Ollie asks, eyes still closed as the door shuts behind him.

‘We’ll go to the balcony,’ Will says, I can hear the regret in his voice.

They pass me, Will guiding Ollie who refuses to look at the room. I snicker, pulling a pair of Will’s shorts on. Ollie sits outside, looking out towards the place where he’s set to marry, and Will apologises to me.

‘Don’t worry about it,’ I mouth, before walking towards the balcony. ‘Ollie, mate. What’re you talking about?’

Ollie sighs, rubbing at his eyes.

‘He’s up and left,’ Ollie says, sinking his head into his hands. ‘I think he’s left me.’

I gawp at Will, unsure of what to say. This wedding has been the most dramatic wedding known to man.

‘Have you called him?’ I ask.

‘Of course I’ve called him,’ Ollie spits. ‘He’s not answering. I can’t reach his parents, either.’

‘Where do you think he would have gone?’

Ollie draws a blank.

‘Come on, Ollie, we have to find him,’ Will says. ‘There’s no use moping around.’

‘What’s the point? He’s done with me.’

‘No, I won’t accept it.’ Will reaches for his phone, tapping his screen.

His thumbs dart up and down, his eyes burning with focus.

‘I’ve just messaged him.’ Before any of us can say anything, Will places the phone to his ear.

After a few moments, he swears. ‘Not answering. Don’t you have him on FindMy or anything? ’

‘Never felt the need,’ Ollie says.

I glance at the Parthenon, imagining the wedding that is only days away.

‘We’ll find him, Ol,’ Will says. ‘This isn’t over yet.’
