Chapter Two
Kai
"How was the interview?" Penny asked excitedly, almost literally hanging off the back of the couch. Kai smiled at his twin sister after he closed their front door.
"Great! Marco offered me the job and I accepted." Kai walked to the fridge and grabbed a soda.
"See, I told you he'd hire you!" Penny announced triumphantly as she clapped.
"Well of course he did. Your boss is his friend. He's helping out a friend but I'll show him that I'm good and he won't regret hiring me." Kai said as he plopped next to Penny on the sofa. "What are we watching?"
"Phineas and Ferb. Apparently there's gonna be 40 more episodes coming soon," Penny exclaimed, clapping.
Penny was a very excitable person and tended to clap and dance anytime anything excited her.
She flopped back down on the seat and said, "Marco will be happy to have the extra help for Christmas, I bet. "
"Hopefully he'll keep me on after the Christmas season is over. Thanks for being so understanding while I found a job." Penny smiled and bumped his shoulder with her own.
"'Course. I still can't believe Sera fired you right before the holiday weekend!!"
"I can. I found out about her affair with my boyfriend. She was probably afraid I’d tell her husband.
" Kai frowned at the T.V. He'd been getting more and more tired of Todd's manipulations the longer he was in the relationship but hadn't wanted to be alone, especially for Christmas.
Kai shouldn't have let the relationship go on for that long.
"Oh! Guess what!"
"Hmm?" Kai looked from the T.V. to his sister. Her lips were stretched into a huge smile.
"Mister Derek, you know, the owner of The Play Spot. He's having a Christmas party the week before Christmas!"
"Really?" Kai tucked his feet under his bottom as he turned toward Penny.
He'd met Mister Derek when Penny had convinced him to join her one night as her guest. He'd been used to being Little around Penny and only her but his wonderful sister insisted that he'd love everyone who frequented the club and that he needed a community and more friends.
Kai had a lot of fun that night especially with the owner's Little girl and her group of friends.
There had also been quite a few Little boys there that he'd met and played with as well.
Kai had admitted to Penny at the end of the night that it had been a good idea and he'd gone back to sign up for his own membership. As much as he loved his sister and she was his best friend it was nice to get to know people outside of their small family.
"Yeah! There's gonna be a potluck, and cookies, and eggnog and I heard from Amelia that Santa is going to be there! We can bring dates if we want and everyone is included!" Penny squealed and clapped her hands some more.
"That's so awesome!" Kai smiled hugely and wiggled excitedly.
"Too bad neither of us have Daddies," he said then shot his sister a sly look. "Unless a certain dark haired hottie asks you to go with him." Penny stopped, then sniffed and looked away.
"I don't know what you mean."
"Oh, puh-lease! I saw how Landon was looking at you when I picked you up last night," Kai teased.
"He was just making sure that I had everything and was leaving as well. There's nothing to it." Penny sat forward with a carefully neutral expression.
"If he was a cartoon his tongue would've been lolling out of his head and he'd have stars in his eyes. I've seen him at the club too. He's a Daddy." Penny frowned while clenching her hands into fists. Kai grabbed her hand and squeezed. "Sorry, I'm just teasing you."
"I know." Penny gave him her big fake smile that told Kai she was still bothered. "But he's my boss. So that's completely out of the question. So, please stop."
"Whatever you say, Pen." Kai figured it was only a matter of time before her "boss" decided to go after her but he kept his mouth shut.
"Do you wanna play Legos?" Penny gave him a real smile and nodded enthusiastically.
Kai changed from his interview clothes into his favorite comfy Little clothes: a soft pair of matching pajamas that had lemurs all over them.
When he came back into the living room Penny had their shared box of legos out and was already starting the base of what looked to be a big building.
Kai reached into the box and joined in. Soon they had a large castle and towers built that they delighted in smashing into pieces.
They stayed up late as they built a mini city on their coffee table and destroyed that too.
Well after midnight they both retired to bed and Kai sat up while thinking about his interview.
Marco was a very attractive man. He was tall and tanned, though Kai figured it must be fake as it was currently winter and the sun wasn't going to come out for a while.
His hair was a dark brown, almost black color and he seemed very muscular under his white button up and black pants.
It had taken all of Kai's attention to give a good interview and not drool all over the man.
Kai sighed and told himself to keep it to himself.
He couldn't lust after his boss. For one he wasn't even sure the man was gay.
For another he was Kai's new boss and that seemed to spell trouble with a capital "T" Kai rolled over and closed his eyes.
No, he didn't need another relationship right now anyway.
