Chapter Five

Kai

"Come on, Kai! We're gonna be late!" Penny called from her bedroom. Kai rolled his eyes and poked his head out from their bathroom.

"I'm ready, you're the one who is lagging.

" He sat on his bed and pulled on his Phineas and Ferb light up sneakers.

Kai grabbed a sweater and stopped to admire himself in the floor length mirror.

He was wearing a graphic tee with Dr. Doofenshmirtz and Perry the Platypus on a green background and just plain brown cargo pants with his awesome new shoes.

Grabbing his stuffie he walked out in time to see Penny coming out of her room wearing a bright pink pinafore dress with a white frilly blouse and pink Mary Jane's.

Her white socks had lace at the top. Penny yanked at her hair with a grunt; it seemed like she was trying to put her hair into space buns and failing.

"It's not my fault! It's Miranda!"

"Is Miranda the name of your hair?" Kai asked with a smile. Half her hair was in a super messy bun and the other half was all over the place.

"Yes, Miranda is a big bully." Penny frowned.

"Here sit on the couch, I'll try to help." Penny flopped down with a dramatic sigh and announced, "I'm cutting all my hair off."

"Oh? Are you going bald?" Kai grabbed one of the many curly hair brushes and some product and got to work on her curls.

Penny knew how to take care of her hair, she just got impatient really fast. As kids their Nana had taught them both how to take care of curly hair.

Kai's hair was ramrod straight but he understood their Nana's reasoning behind it.

"Yes, being bald is in, you know."

"Oh, totally. You can glue your bows and beads and all your head bands to your bald head." Kai finished the space buns and brought out a hand mirror from the bathroom.

"Oh em gee!" Penny squealed as she twisted her head around. "They look so good! Thank, thank, thank yooooouuu!" she sang as she popped up and kissed him on the cheek.

"So, should we schedule some time to shave your hair?" Kai asked as he grabbed his keys.

"What? No, I'd look terrible with a bald head. Can I drive?" Penny held out her own keys and Kai just laughed.

"Come on, we're late." Penny just grumbled as they left their apartment and got into his small, brown Toyota.

"I don't know why you won't let me drive. I'm a good driver."

"Ha! You just got the car back from the mechanic for backing into a pole."

"Hey, that pole came out of nowhere. I looked and it wasn't there before I started backing up.

I don't know where it came from." Kai just shook his head as he navigated late evening traffic into Portland. Penny was easily distracted on a good day and a lot of times she'd back into things or other cars without looking. The first time she’d taken the driving test she’d almost crashed while still in the parking lot. It took Penny a total of twenty times to pass her test and Kai was sure it was because the instructor didn’t want to see her again.

"I texted Amelia and she's not working the front desk tonight. Apparently Derek thought she was working too much and hired someone to work the front desk part time." Penny commented, looking down at her phone.

"Oh? Anyone we know?"

"Not well. It's the new member, Ariel."

"Oh, right. I remember her. She seems sweet, just incredibly shy."

"I asked Ams about that and apparently when she's working she can be pretty outgoing.

It's just she's mostly very quiet around Derek and some of the other men.

" Kai nodded, the last time she'd been at the club she'd had a panic attack because one of the regulars had come on to her a bit too strong.

Derek had to intervene and the other man had apologized profusely, thinking that it had been a situation of "playing hard to get. "

Soon they parked in front of The Play Spot.

Last year, Derek had moved the club from the industrial part of Portland to this nicer neighborhood.

The club was moved into a huge three story Victorian style house.

The first floor housed the bar and the usual things you'd see in a kink club.

The second floor had a few themed rooms and the attic housed the new, bigger, Littles play room.

Derek had renovated it and had separated the attic into a main play area where most everyone congregated, a private area to punish your Little or Middle and the last part was a nursery.

Kai tended to avoid that room; he didn’t go that Little. He knew Penny liked to play in there sometimes with Marshie and a few others but being in that room meant more supervision from the monitors as most of the baby Littles were nonverbal or needed changing.

"Hi, there. Welcome to The Play Spot," Kai smiled as a small girl greeted them from what used to be the foyer. She had a heart shaped face and fire engine red hair. She was wearing red overalls and a black T-shirt underneath with the club's logo on it.

"Hi, Ariel right?" Kai asked. Ariel gulped but nodded and smiled.

"Yes, that is my name. Um, are you a member? I recognize Penny."

"I am a member, my name is Kai. Penny is actually my sister."

"Yep, my twin brother but I'm the oldest of us two."

"By two minutes," Kai responded, exasperated. She always pulled that card when she wanted something.

"That matters. Right, Ariel?" Kai smiled as he saw Ariel’s shoulders relax the tiniest bit.

"Oh… um… yes, it does. It's two minutes but that's two minutes older. Can I see your member card?"

"Yes, of course," Kai pulled his plastic card out of his wallet.

It looked similar to a Costco card but this one was black with a discreet version of the logo on one side and his picture and a barcode on the other.

Derek had implemented the cards once he'd renovated this house and upgraded his computer system.

"Where's Levi?" Penny asked after looking around.

"Levi?" Kai asked.

"He's a bouncer that Derek hired to keep Ariel safe."

"He's getting us some more water." Ariel explained.

"He's fine with you letting in people while he's gone?" Penny asked with raised eyebrows.

"'Course he is, why wouldn't he be? Are you going to the Imagination Room?" Ariel asked after scanning their cards.

"Yep, is it busy?" Kai asked.

"Yeah, there are a lot of Littles in there today. Not many Tops besides the monitors of course. Have fun!"

"Thanks, Ariel. Maybe I'll see you there later?" Penny asked. “I’m gonna spend some time in the Nursery tonight. Will you be in there?”

"Oh, um, maybe." Ariel waved as Kai and Penny walked down the hallway. The main dungeon that took up most of the first floor had a couple doors leading to it but they headed up the stairs toward the attic.

"You’re spending some time in the nursery tonight?"

"For a little bit, if that's alright."

"Yeah, that's fine. I'll find some friends and play with them. Or I’ll read by myself for a bit."

"Maybe you can find a Daddy for the night," Penny gave him a wink and Kai shook his head.

"I'm not looking for one tonight." Kai didn’t tell Penny that there was only one man that he could see being his Daddy.
