Chapter 12

Chapter Twelve

H is mouth crashed down on hers in a searing kiss—raw and desperate—His tongue sweeping against hers in a rhythm that made her knees weak. Madison moaned into his mouth, her fingers tangling in his hair as she clung to him. Her body molded to his, soft curves pressing against hard muscle.

“Turn around,” he ordered, his voice hoarse

Madison hesitated, but the heat in his gaze made her obey. She let out an audible gasp when his lips found the curve of her neck, then traveled lower, leaving a trail of slow, open-mouthed kisses down her back.

Dropping to his knees behind her, his hands slid over her waist and down her thighs. His mouth followed, pressing kisses to the soft skin just above her knee before moving upward again, deliberately slow.

The sensation of his beard against the delicate skin had her writhing, and his grip firmed to hold her in place.

Madison whimpered when his tongue flicked out, teasing the sensitive skin high on the inside of her thigh. Her fingers curled into fists at her sides, her body trembling under his touch. His hands tightened on her hips as he coaxed her legs apart, his breath hot against her skin.

“So beautiful,” Alex murmured, his voice rough and filled with reverence. “So fucking sweet.”

He didn’t give her a chance to respond before his mouth found her, and her legs threatened to collapse. Madison moaned as he slipped two fingers inside her, her body tightening with every flick of his tongue, pushing her higher.

Her body shook when his fingers curled forward, and a volcanic wave of heat swept over her. She barely recognized her own voice in the incoherent pleas falling from her lips.

“Alex...” Her body arched as he sent her spiraling over the edge, waves of pleasure rolling through her.

He rose slowly, and turned her to face him before capturing her mouth again.

She kissed him back with renewed urgency, her fingers fumbling with the buckle of his belt.

“I need you.”

Alex growled, shedding the rest of his clothes. In one swift motion, he lifted her, Madison’s legs wrapping around his waist as he carried her to the bed. He lowered her onto the cool sheets, and her eyes ran over his body. He was magnificent.

Reaching into the drawer next to the bed, he pulled out a small foil packet. Then his hands were on her again, and electric sparks raced through her.

A broken cry escaped as he surged into her with one stroke, and her body locked around him. Madison could feel his heart hammering hard against hers as he licked at her lips before dragging the bottom one into his mouth.

“Alex!” The word burst from her, and she dug her nails into his shoulders, desperate for something to hold on to.

His movements were slow at first, almost too controlled, but when she moaned his name again, Alex cursed and all restraint was forgotten. Their bodies moved together, the rhythm growing frantic and desperate. His mouth found hers once more, swallowing her cries, his hands roaming over every inch of her body as if he couldn’t get enough.

“Mine,” Alex rasped, his lips brushing against her ear as he thrust deeper. “Say it.”

“Yours,” Madison whispered, her breath hitching as another wave of pleasure overtook her. “I’m yours, Alex.”

That was all it took. He followed her over the edge, his body shuddering as the tension inside him finally broke. For a moment, there was nothing but the sound of their ragged breathing,

Alex pressed a lingering kiss to her temple, his hand brushing a strand of damp hair from her face. Madison’s eyes fluttered open and met Alex’s piercing gaze. For a heartbeat, she saw something unguarded in his eyes, but he rose to his feet and padded over to the bathroom to dispose of the condom.

“You’re never going to convince me you are anything but otherworldly now,” he said lightly, as he joined her in the bed.

She didn’t object when he pulled her into his arms, tucking her back against his chest. “I hope you’re hydrated, Angel. I have big plans for you tonight.”

Madison huffed a tiny laugh, her hands coming up to grip his forearm where it pressed against her chest. She didn’t know how long she lay there, waiting for her heartbeat to slow and her body to relax.

“Say it.”

“I’m yours.”

He didn’t mean it.

She understood he’d said it in the heat of the moment.

But for tonight, she would pretend.

Because, deep down, a part of her wanted to belong.

Their limbs were still tangled, when Madison slumped breathlessly against him. “I think I need to do more cardio.”

Alex’s chest shook with laughter beneath her. With a hard slap on her ass, he rolled her to the side and slipped out of bed.

“Fuck that. This is cardio.” He cast her a wolfish grin as he strolled out of the room and then returned a few minutes later with two glasses of water. They drank in comfortable silence. Handing him her empty glass, Madison rolled to face him. Alex mimicked her action, propping his head on his palm.

“Damn. Give me a minute,” Alex laughed, his face relaxed, following her gaze to where she was staring at his flexed bicep.

“Pfft. Then don’t look like that,” she grinned back, but nuzzled her head deeper into her pillow, feeling boneless.

“Where’s Jax tonight?”

Caught off-guard, she responded automatically. “Felix has visitation for the holiday.”

“Who’s Felix?”

“Biological father.” The warm glow she’d reveled in was gone. She shifted to get out of the bed, but his hand whipped out, and he grabbed her wrist.

“Don’t run.” His hold wasn’t painful, but she found herself stopping.

Madison flopped back on the pillow and stared at the ceiling with an irritated huff.

“You don’t like him.”

She glared at him, her nostrils flaring. “No.”

“Is Jax safe?”

Her face twitched, and then crumpled before she caught herself. “Why would you ask that?”

“Because you look like you’re about to come out of your skin at the mention of the man.”

There was something too relaxed about his voice, and Madison rolled back to glare at him. “You already know, don’t you?”

“Yes.”

The easy admission surprised her. “Just… yes?”

“What’s the point of lying? You’d just see through it.”

“It’s none of your business,” she snapped.

“Maybe not, but I was curious about you.”

“‘Just a businessman, Madison,’” she mocked in a deep tone, parroting back his words to her from that night at his house.

“How does me Googling you make me not a businessman?”

She narrowed her eyes. “You only Googled me?”

Alex shrugged, and she didn’t miss that he didn’t answer the question.

“Why so interested?”

His hand traced along her bare shoulder, goosebumps rising at his touch. “I’m interested in everything about you.”

“Why?”

“Maybe I want to marry you.”

Madison burst out laughing, and after a minute, Alex’s lips tipped up.

“Rude. I didn’t think the first time I asked a woman to marry me, she would laugh.” His eyes twinkled mischievously down at her.

“Is that what this? Are you proposing?”

Alex’s brow wrinkled. “Absolutely not. I’ll at least bring you flowers when I do it.”

Madison shook her head, chuckling. He had been nothing like she’d expected tonight. Alex Kovalyov was addicting, and she needed to be careful before she confused all the amazing sex endorphins for something else.

“I should go.” She sat up and moved to get out of the bed again, only to find herself tugged back down and Alex’s body hovering over hers.

“You should not.” Alex dipped his head and rubbed his cheek against hers. “You’re staying here tonight.”

“If you insist,” she gasped, as his hand slipped between them.
