20. My Dick Only Wants One Woman

MY DICK ONLY WANTS ONE WOMAN

Wes

I greet Kris, my usual driver, and climb into the back of the waiting SUV.

“It’s an hour and eighteen minutes to Teterboro,” he says. “There’s a bit of traffic.”

“Thanks.” I nod and press the button to close the divider for privacy before calling Camila.

She answers on the first ring. “What’d you forget?”

“Nothing. This is about Fable.”

“Oh.” Her tone deepens. “What about her?”

“I want her on full-time, and I want her to stay on the property until I get back from London. She can’t leave for any reason.”

“That will be a problem.”

“Why?” I watch as we pass through the first gate.

“To start, I haven’t hired her full-time yet. But before you say anything, I can’t because she has other employment.”

I knew Fable was up to something when she flashed me that saccharine smile. “Tell her to quit.”

She scoffs with disbelief. “I know it’s not my place to say anything, but this girl—”

“Woman,” I correct her.

“This woman has you behaving irrationally.”

“You’re right, it’s not your place.”

I don’t often talk to Camila like this. We’re usually on the same page when it comes to Hellfire.

But then we’ve never clashed because I’ve never chosen someone over her.

I’ve never acted out of character. I’m an incredibly consistent person.

I eat the same thing, stick to the same routine, keep the same habits, the same women and friends.

If business interferes with my schedule, I adapt, even though I don’t like it.

Moving here with Lachlan a year ago was a hard adjustment, and I’m still out of sorts with a few things, but I’ve come a long way.

If I could blame my irrational behavior on those things, I would, but none of that would cause this much chaos in me.

“With all due respect, Wes, I can’t hold her hostage. She is free to live her own life and make her own choices. She did say, however, if I offered her a full-time position, she’d put in her two weeks’ notice and start directly after or earlier should they dismiss her.”

They, as in Lachlan and Emery. As much as I’m not ready to have that conversation with Lachlan yet, it seems I have no choice. “I’ll handle her current employer. They won’t need her.”

She scoffs again. “Of course, you will. I have to say, this hero complex you have for Fable is incredibly sexy. My pussy is wet just thinking about it. If only you could postpone your flight a little longer and help me out with that. I’ll make it worth your while.

You know I’m fine with sharing. We could even invite her into the mix if you want. ”

A growl stirs in my chest. “Not this time.” Fable is mine and no one else’s.

I let Camila suck me off last night, desperate to drown out my desire for Fable. To her credit, she put on quite a show, kissing every inch of me except my mouth, and sucking my cock with Olympic skills, but I couldn’t bring myself to fuck her.

My dick only wants one woman. Once I have her, and I will, I wonder if the appeal will still be there. I’ve never needed anyone before. Why would that change now?

I owe Fable safety. I will deliver it and have my way with her until then.

After that, I truly can’t say how I’ll feel.

Maybe she won’t haunt me anymore, and I’ll be able to move on from that part of my past. I’ve cut ties with people for many reasons, but could I dismiss Fable the same way?

I’ve only ever been loyal to Tessa and a few others I consider family.

Fable falls into a category that’s new to me, and I’m not sure what it means.

Telling Lachlan about her might give him the wrong idea.

I’ll make sure to clear that up as well.

“Pity,” Camila sighs with obvious disappointment.

As soon as we end this call, she’ll either take care of herself or have a go with someone on the security team. “Is there anything else I can do for you, my Lord?” She uses her nickname for me when we fuck.

I chuckle softly and shake my head. “Just keep Fable there.”

“You got it.”

We end the call, and I text Lachlan.

Me: Are you free to talk?

I planned to work during the drive to the airport and use Vantage to run some searches on Fable’s past. After I check in with Felix, of course. Now I’ll have to have an uncomfortable conversation with Lachlan too.

Lachlan: Call you in five.

Ten minutes later, I’m in the middle of reading a report on my phone when Lachlan calls.

“Are you on the jet?” he says instead of hello.

“On my way.”

“I thought you were set to take off at 11?”

“I ran late.”

“That’s interesting.”

“Yep.” My gaze follows the road through the tinted windows as we curve onto the highway.

“What’s going on?” He knows something is up. I’m never late.

“I need a favor. And I don’t want to hear any cheeky shit from you about it.”

“You’re mistaking me for Rory. I don’t have a cheeky bone in my body. But you do have my full attention now.” His tone is mocking. He’s loving this.

“Your housekeeper, the one I said I didn’t know, I know her.”

“I knew it. I looked into her but couldn’t find anything on her or how she’s connected to you.”

“I didn’t want you to.”

“I got Felix involved.”

“I did too. I told him to keep everything from you.”

He blows out a low whistle. “Sneaky bastard. Are you going to tell me now?”

“Only because I don’t have a choice. I think someone is after her.”

“And how is that your problem?”

“She’s the girl who saved me when my father dumped me in the garden.”

“Oh,” he drawls out. “The one who betrayed you for a payout?”

He has the memory of an elephant. “The story is a lot more complicated. My father was involved somehow. I believe he did all the betraying, and Fable and I were his victims.”

“Sounds like your father. May he rot in hell.”

“May he indeed.”

“What do you need from me?”

“Until I know the extent of what happened, I need to keep her safe. I owe her that much.” I dust a leaf from my dark pants.

“How is that?”

“I promised her I’d kill her dad in return for her saving me.

He abused her and her mum, but I never did because I thought she was safe, coveted by my father in one of his estates.

That’s what I was told at the time, and it wasn’t true.

From what I’ve learned, Fable and her mum ended up right back in America, broke, and on the run from her horrible dad. ”

“Sounds terrible,” he replies, tone dry, “but I still don’t know why you owe her anything.”

“Her dad found them and brutally killed Fable’s mum. Now she’s on her own, and someone is after her.”

“Bloody hell.”

“You get it now?”

“I do.” He lets out a heavy sigh. “Where’s her dad?”

“Convicted for the murder and in a Psychiatric facility.”

“Who do you think is after her?”

“I don’t know. Yet. But listen, she doesn’t know I know any of this. She worked at Hellfire this weekend through a friend who I employ there. But she only knows me as one of the Lords. You know how we keep things here.”

“What are the odds of her getting a job at the place you bought with her in mind?”

“It doesn’t matter. All that matters is that I keep her safe. I can do that at Hellfire, but she’s returning to your mansion to put in her notice tomorrow.”

“She’s quitting?” he says with surprise. “I wasn’t aware there was a problem.”

“There isn’t.” I prop my elbow on the armrest. “She changes jobs quickly. My guess is because of who’s after her. I think that’s why she wants to work at Hellfire. It’s well protected, she can live in the mansion, and her friend is there.”

“And you want me to send her back immediately. Emery won’t like this. She’ll want to know what’s going on and probably want to do something for Fable. She likes her.”

I’m thankful Emery hired her, or else I never would have known what Fable has been going through, but I can’t have her involved. “You could handle it and lie to her.”

“I don’t lie to my wife. Not anymore. Not after what happened. You know that.”

“I remember.” I was part of the reason. “That’s long gone now, along with your balls,” I tease. My once-ruthless best friend and business partner is whipped in every way.

“I can’t wait for the day a woman gets hold of yours.”

“That’ll never happen.”

“And yet, you’re running circles to make sure this little housekeeper is under your watch, at your estate, where you hold all the cards.”

“To protect her.”

“What do you plan to do to the person who’s after her?”

Kill him. I don’t say that out loud. I don’t say anything.

“That’s what I thought,” Lachlan replies, knowing exactly what I plan to do.

“I can’t get out of the meeting at the London office, or I’d find a way to handle this myself. A meeting you’re supposed to be at with me.” I remind him.

“I can’t leave town when Emery isn’t feeling well.”

Like I said—whipped. “Maybe she’s pregnant.” I don’t know why my mind went there.

“Fuck,” he drawls in a whisper as if he hadn’t thought of that.

“Good fuck or bad fuck?”

“Good. Of course, good. I’ve got to go, mate.”

“What about Fable?” I blurt. “She can’t know I’m involved.”

“I’ll handle it.”

If there’s one person I can trust to do what he says, it’s Lachlan. “Thanks. Keep me posted.”

Fable

I lounge on a couch in the staff common area at the mansion with Noah and Ashlyn. They talked me into staying for the afternoon, eating snacks, and watching a TV series, Maxton Hall.

Bear lies curled up with Noah on the adjacent couch.

“I could leave him here, and he wouldn’t care,” I say and eat a piece of white cheddar popcorn from the bowl on the center coffee table.

Ashlyn sits at the end of the couch near Noah, her brown hair in a high ponytail. “You know how they say blond guys aren’t hot? This actor proves that very wrong.” She points with a piece of popcorn. “Look at his tousled blond locks and that jawline.”

“All I’m looking at are his abs,” I say.

“Aw,” Noah coos and covers her heart. “Our baby girl is learning so much.” She smiles at Ashlyn.
