38. Ready For Action
READY FOR ACTION
N o man has ever said no to sex when it was phrased like Daphne just did.
He’d be an idiot to fight it any longer and his mama didn’t raise a fool!
They ate dinner fast, or he did. Then he started to clean it up with her.
Not because he wanted to do it for her, but the faster it was done, the sooner he’d see her naked.
He just had to be mindful of her arm. But she said she had it and he was going to believe her.
“Where do you want me?” he asked, his hands up in the air. “I’m all yours. Just direct me to what you want.”
She closed one eye at him. “Don’t be cute.”
“I can’t help the way my mother made me,” he said, smirking.
She rolled her eyes. “Go sit in the chair,” she said.
“Oh...” he said. “That’s a new one.”
“If you don’t zip it you can go home with blue balls for all I care. My right hand knows how to take care of myself.”
The laughter in her eyes told him she’d do exactly what she’d just said.
He put his fingers to his lips and pulled an imaginary zipper closed.
Walking over to the chair, he flopped down and had his legs out in front of him.
“I’m keeping my shirt on,” she said. “No need to remove it. I only need the bottom bare.”
She had a sleeveless tank top on that was fitted to her body. It’s not like she was covered. It barely covered her belly.
But she pushed her shorts down over her hips. They had an elastic waist on them. Then she shimmied her panties down next.
“You said not to talk, but I’m assuming you want me to ditch my shorts too? Put a condom on unless you want to do it. I’m not telling you no.”
“Sure,” she said. “You can help me out.”
He laughed and stood up, unbuttoned his shorts, and pushed them off with his underwear. He pulled his shirt over his head too because he felt silly sitting there with it on.
He’d grabbed a condom out of the bathroom while she put the rest of dinner away and pulled it out of his pocket that he’d slipped it in.
It was obvious he was ready and willing right now. Just the thought of what was going to happen had him standing to attention.
Hell, Daphne could walk into the room in a potato sack and he’d be ready for action.
He opened the condom, covered himself, and then sat back down, his arms on the side of the chair, waiting for her to make the next move. Her eyes had been appraising him the entire time, heat filling them faster than the remaining blood in his body could squeeze into his rock-hard cock.
She didn’t keep him guessing, strutting toward him, climbing over, her knees on each side of him.
It was a tight fit, but it would prevent her from falling to one side and having to catch herself.
Guess she had been thinking ahead.
She sat down on his lap, but not covering him.
Bummer.
“Kiss me,” she said.
He leaned forward and put his lips to hers lightly and then returned to a more comfortable position.
“If you don’t want me to hurt myself, you’ll kiss me the way I want or you’ll force me to do it with one hand.”
She didn’t have to say another word.
The woman on top of him right now was out of his best fantasy come true.
He threaded his fingers into her hair, then yanked her mouth forward until it crushed his.
It was like the three weeks of time away fueled a need greater than he’d ever thought he’d experience.
Their mouths were open, their tongues swirling around and she squirmed and ground against him.
No way he was letting her come like this and the way she was rubbing up and down on his dick, he was pretty sure it could happen.
“Fuck me,” he said to her. “Now.”
He might have been more forceful in his words. Kind of like a growl, but she lifted up, used her good hand to line herself up, and sank down fast.
“Jesus,” he said. “You’re tight.”
“Cuz you made me wait,” she said. “Kiss me again.”
If it felt like the first time they were together in the casino hotel, he wasn’t about to bring that up.
It seemed every time he did, she reverted back to the shy skittish woman that he’d spent a lot of time breaking out of her shell.
His mouth was crushing hers and when he felt her arm against his chest, he realized he might be pulling her too close or tight so he eased up some, but kept up the lip lock.
She was rising up and down on him. Not slow, but not fast either.
Just a nice steady rhythm that he never seemed to be able to master.
She definitely had a lot more control than he did and he might be slightly jealous over it.
Especially since she was working him up and needed to ease back some.
“Slow down,” he said.
“No,” she snapped. “You made me wait. It’s what I want.”
“Yes, ma’am,” he said.
He stayed still and tried to concentrate on anything to turn him off. To slow him down.
Yeah, it didn’t work.
Not when he had a hot wet pussy sliding up and down on top of him.
He let out a groan, but thankfully she took that as she needed to speed up. At least he hoped she did because her motions were jerky enough that he was afraid she was going to come right off him as urgent as she was moving.
He reached his hand between them, found her swollen bud, and pressed against it.
Oh yeah, that was it.
The magic button to send her over which let him do the same.
He had his hands on her hips holding her in place and was slamming up into her as fast as he could.
She was still coming and he joined her, his body tensing, but his dick releasing.
It was the most wonderful feeling in the world.
Words couldn’t match what it felt like to feel the release with the woman he loved.
She sagged against him and shifted so that she was leaning on her right side.
“Are you okay?” he asked.
“I think so,” she said. “At least for round one.”
“Can I go take care of the condom?” he asked. “Before we get to the second one. I need a breather anyway.”
“That’s good,” she said. “Because we need to talk.”
Words no man wanted to hear. Not after sex.
Shit, not anytime!
He helped her up, walked to her bathroom to take care of the condom, and returned a minute later.
She had her shorts back on and tossed his to him with his underwear.
“What did I do?” he asked, getting dressed.
“What makes you think you did something?” she asked, lifting an eyebrow.
Oh, I don’t know, he thought. The ominous words that make every man’s balls shrivel into their sack. Maybe he should have thought of that to get some control of his body.
Or it could be the slant to her eyes like he was going to get scolded for leaving the toilet seat up.
He knew it wasn’t that. His mother taught him well.
“You’re joking, right?” he asked. “It’s all over your face.”
She sighed. “Did you call Reese or Poppy and tell them I was worried I was going to get fired over what happened with Holly?”
That is what this was about?
That was weeks ago.
He wasn’t going to lie. It was nothing either.
“I didn’t call them,” he said. “Reese called me to check in when you were in your MRI. He wanted to know how you were doing. I said you were hanging in there. He kept saying how thankful they were you caught Holly and they were going to have a talk with her about it. I didn’t want them to make her feel bad about it. She’s just a kid.”
“They told me that,” she said. “You never said I was worried about my job?”
“I did,” he said. “But you said it too. Not in so many words about being fired. I might have been worked up over everything that had happened and the fact that the woman I loved got hurt right in front of my face and I couldn’t do anything to prevent it.”
She seemed to weigh his words. “I don’t need you to speak for me,” she said. “You even told me once you didn’t think I needed saving and yet your actions smacked of that exactly.”
“Come here,” he said. “I know you’re mad. You can yell at me if you want. But I’m going to speak up when I see you hurting on all sorts of levels. You were in pain and you didn’t need to be hurting on an emotional level either. You know by now they weren’t even thinking of terminating you, right?”
She sighed and leaned her head against his shoulder. “Earlier today when I found out you said that I was mad. If you were on the property I probably would have marched up and given you a piece of my mind.”
That was something at least. That she’d managed to calm down.
“What made your anger go away?”
“I’m not saying it went away,” she said. “It’s just not as great.”
“Do you even get mad?” he asked. “I should know that, right? Like what to expect.”
“Don’t be funny again. This is serious, Abe. It’s not enough to cause a fight, but I want you to know that I don’t need you to take care of me. I don’t need you to fight my battles.”
He wanted to grind his teeth but didn’t. He rarely lost his temper either and wasn’t sure why he was close to it.
“I’m not fighting your battles. I’m telling you that in the moment I might have said something you don’t agree with, but there was no intent other than to help ease the burdens you were unnecessarily placing on yourself.”
She reared up. “Unnecessary?”
Yep, there was a trigger he didn’t know existed.
“Relax,” he said. “I just did it again. I’m not great with my words.”
“Because so many come out of your mouth all the time,” she said. “And maybe if that didn’t happen, you wouldn’t say things that don’t concern you.”
“Ouch,” he said, his hand going to his heart. “I felt that here.”
“It’s the truth and you know it.”
“Maybe I’ve heard it before. But my heart was in the right place. I mean it, Daphne. It was a crazy day and you didn’t need the added stress of worrying about your job on top of everything else.”
“I know,” she said. “And I appreciate how good Reese and Poppy have been. I even believe they would have been that way if you didn’t say it to them.”
“You know that,” he said. “I didn’t do any harm. How did you even find out? No way Poppy or Reese would say it.”
He believed they would have had his back. But he also believed they dismissed the words once they were said because they were never thinking it anyway.
“Julie said something today. And it set me off, but I didn’t let her see it. She’s been known to gossip and exaggerate things.”
“She probably did with this. It was one passing statement while we were in the hospital. Reese made a comment that it was ridiculous or something and that was it.”
“I’m sure he did,” she said. “But rather than react, I calmed down as the day went on, and continued with my plan to find out why we weren’t having sex. So you see, that had more importance to me. Just so you know.”
“Good to hear,” he said. “It tells me you were more questioning this rather than concerned?”
“Yes,” she said. “We talked about it and can put it to rest.”
“Really or are you just saying that?” he asked.
She lifted her head again. “Are you pushing my buttons?”
“Nope. I’ll be good and stop talking,” he said, smiling.
But he did wonder if it was put to rest or not.
