Always Entertaining #2
Maximus winked, “I’ll handle this chick, Auntie Em.” Emmaline walked over and kissed his cheek then shot a snark filled look at the Goblin saying, “I know you will, nephew.” Kiara snickered, “Oh now they’ve done it. Our Frost Filled Christmas in the Goblin realm just got worse.”
I teased, “Darn the luck.” Kiara chuckled, “I know. It’s just not what we wanted at all.” I’d read enough about Goblins to know they’d get out their shovels and dig the hole deeper, I just didn’t anticipate it would be with Emmaline over Maximus being her nephew or not.
Corbin faded in, “Let’s go home, brother. We have the Thanksgiving / celebration of the Christmas party planning meal later.” Maximus snorted, “You weren’t supposed to follow me, little brother.” Corbin grinned, “Yet you knew I was here.”
Maximus replied, “Yes, I did and don’t you forget it.” Corbin laughed and hugged Emmaline then walked over to Maximus. Emmaline sighed, “They keep getting so big. I swear just the other day they were so little.” Both boys laughed then Maximus shimmered them out.
Five portals opened and more people left.
Emmaline snorted, “My nephews are literally never alone.” I replied, “Unless they want to be.” Kiara grumbled, “They may be able to fade back, but I can hunker down and hide.” I agreed, “We shift into an animal, that’s awesome. They have cool powers, but we do too.”
Kiara agreed, “We do.” I said, “Plus, I always have you to talk to in my head.” Kiara chuckled, “I’d never want anyone else. You and I are a good team, and I’m glad you’re my first human.” I agreed, “That we are.” Dylan linked me he was causing chaos.
I snorted, “Pop me to Black Mountain for the fun sexy time, then get back here.” Emmaline grinned, “I have to admit, I love all the planning sessions they have and the fun they bring.” I reasoned, “You know Dylan offered to have you help plan.”
Emmaline admitted, “So did Haley, but I really just want to enjoy the party this year. Plus, I’m planning the pack’s party and helping Katie plan one at her business in the Hackura realm. Maybe next year I’ll help with Dylanmas, but this year I’m enjoying being an observer.”
Kiara snickered, “Until she finds out she could’ve known the fighting Krampus twist.” Yeah, well as a Fairy, Emmaline would probably find that twist quite fun. Emmaline popped me to Black Mountain then popped away.
A gust of wind circled me and suddenly I was in a very short shirt, or dress, that made me look like Santa. I had on bright red underwear you could see a hint of. Kiara purred, “Mate will love this look.” I agreed, “Definitely.”
I skipped off to find the right spot. Mom linked, “Did you know Dylan set Nathan up on a blind date?” Kiara howled with laughter.
I asked, “Did he really? Well, you know Dylan is just following the Cassandra allotted amount of grief timeline. Obviously, my mate is following her wishes even in death.”
Mom snorted, “Dylan loathed that woman and would much rather dance on her grave than follow her wishes.” I chuckled, “Not exactly. Dylan would adore to follow her wishes, that aren’t really her wishes, if he knew it would upset her. Nathan being on a date would upset Cassandra, even in death.”
Mom giggled, “Nathan just told your dad that Dylan set him up. He’s not asking to be bailed out, so maybe he’s having fun.” I replied, “Good. Then maybe he will stop getting so drunk.” Mom replied, “At least the pups don’t know about it anymore.”
I agreed, “True. Nathan gets popped home, or makes it home, almost every night now. It would be better if he stopped drinking people out of liquor and that’s Dylan’s goal. It’s probably a slow goal too. Nathan’s not jumping in the sack with anyone after what I heard.”
Mom groaned, “You know?” I replied, “Dylan knows, so I do. My husband considered pouring bleach in his ears. Then my mate asked Aiden if there was a way to remove that knowledge. None of us need to know Cassandra acted like sex was a chore. I could’ve guessed though. ” Mom asked, “What was Aiden’s answer?”
I answered, “That Dylan would have to lose the entire memory of that moment with Nathan, and Dylan didn’t want that.
My husband just wants to help, and let’s be honest here; Nathan deserves some damn joy.
Hell the man needs some companionship, with someone who isn’t sneering at him or tearing him down that’s interesting him in. ”
“He tried so hard with Cassandra, and she never saw his efforts. That evil, vile woman threw his parents in his face left and right. She tore Nathan to shreds metaphorically, never showed up to his grand gestures, and complained about him constantly. Let the man have some fun on a damn date.”
Mom chuckled, “I wasn’t going to get him, and I would’ve stopped your dad if he’d considered it. The woman will probably be someone the Conners boys know and like. Dylan would’ve vetted the woman on the date. I know he loves Nathan and would never have him out with a title chaser.”
“Besides, you know I distanced myself from Cassandra long ago. Sometimes, my darling daughter, you keep the snake close enough to you so they don’t grow suspicious and bite. You just make sure they don’t bite those you love.”
Kiara said, “Mom is sly.” I knew that. I told her, “I love you, mom.” Mom chuckled, “I love you too. Now, I’m going to have some fun in this cute Christmas outfit.” I replied, “No, I didn’t hear that at all.” Mom laughed back down the link.
Landon linked me, “I appreciate your mate sending me out of the pack when shit like this goes down.” I snorted, “Baby brother, you know Dylan will always have your back. How did you know it was happening?”
Landon answered, “My friends linked me that it wasn’t fair Dylan always has me out and about, so I don’t know what’s going down, when they don’t get to leave.” I snorted, “Dylan can hardly make sure all the pups are gone.”
Landon replied, “I dunno, sis. If anyone could, it would be your mate.” I laughed, “Maybe. What are you doing?” Landon answered, “I’m in Kris’s shop helping him, so he can close up early and enjoy Thanksgiving.”
I told him, “Have fun. I’ll see you at dinner, where Nathan will probably bring the date Dylan set him up on.” Landon gasped, “NO! Are you serious? Of course you are. It’s Dylan. I will literally be so early to this dinner.” I laughed and closed the link with my little brother.
Dylan found me and we bantered back and forth. Kiara purred, “Mate is perfect.” He really was. Emmaline linked, “Literal trucks of chocolate showed up with a very fancy delivery man. We have to do something about getting Dylan to let the cold war go.” I chuckled, “Alex and I are on it.”
Emmaline snorted, “Thank god. I love the flowers though.” I replied, “Even better. We can get him to let go of the imported chocolates and keep the crazy, insane number of flowers.” Emmaline agreed, “That’s a great compromise.”
Kiara huffed, “Someone told mate about the Goblins.” I linked Emmaline, “Does Lucas know about the Goblin yet?” Emmaline answered, “Yes, but he said he hasn’t talked to Dylan yet.” Danver found out then.
I linked the man, “Do you have me lo-jacked?” Danver chuckled, “No I do not, Beta Female Lacy.” I snorted, “I think you do. You’re everywhere all the time, and it’s impressive.” Danver said, “I think Beta Dylan would enjoy hearing how you have the Goblin realm stuck in a Frost Filled Christmas."
I laughed, “You know, I think he would.” Danver replied, “Have a good day, Beta Female Lacy.” I replied in kind, “You as well, Danver.” I was going to get that man another raise.
Danver always said he was paid too well by our family, but good people got paid well.
That’s something my dad always taught us, and Danver was the best.
Kiara told me, “Christmas fear is an excellent way to describe what we are doing.” I replied, “Right? It just came to me. I need that on a t-shirt.” Dylan already knew that I was doing something, and he’d probably already figured out why.
Kiara chuckled, “Mate is a Beta though, he wants confirmation.” Which was something I could easily give him. Plus, he’d enjoy the notes I’d taken from his side of things. The bullhorn with me shouting at them was something I’d never have thought of. Dylan did things like that though, so I used it.
Kiara growled, “It’s fair! They tried to take him from us so they must SUFFER!” I assured her, “You know that I agree with you wholeheartedly.” Then Dylan mentioned that he’d almost died. I hated hearing those words because he was mine. No one would take what was mine from me.
We lost ourselves in each other. Afterwards, I led the discussion about the flowers, chocolates, and jewelry that threw up in our territory.
Kiara purred, “Mate paid for our jewelry.” Dylan always paid for our jewelry, but on this specific day he would spend all of Lucas’s money to prove he shouldn't be named the Alpha.
I gently broached the topic of the cold war not being his fault. Dylan admitted quite a bit about it. When we got into the house, I’d get him a drink. Dylan didn’t have much Fairy blood, but sharing his sorrow should still be followed by a drink.
I actually moved when Eric yelled. Kiara warned, “Thor, Steele, Olaf, and Kobe are worried.” I snorted, “This is about Nathan’s date, really?” Kiara admitted, “Yes, not that he’s on one though. Just that they wanted to vet the woman.”
I actually rolled my eyes, telling my wolf what we both knew, “Dylan would’ve vetted her to the degree Eric wanted. Hell, it’s definitely someone Eric knows and likes.” Kiara chuckled, “This time. Next time, he’ll go with a Fairy to drive Thor insane.”
I replied, “More than likely a partial Fairy. He’d say that Eric and Nathan could have a matching pair.
” Kiara chuckled in my head. Haley snapped me into an adorable outfit.
I was in a deep red short dress with a high neckline, but it was backless with knee high black boots.
I smiled at her and mouthed, “Thank you.”
