Chapter 15
Ledgar
I probably shouldn’t have interfered. I should have just left her to fend for herself, but what kind of person would that make me.
The minute she stepped foot inside my building I was aware.
I can pull up a camera from anywhere in the hotel and casino straight to my phone.
Watching her was easy. Trying not to go to her, well that was something different.
When the receptionist told me who she was here to see, all I saw was red.
That room, seven-five-seven, is known as the playboy’s room.
He has a different girl there every night and is always in need of some type of medical assistance afterwards.
Everyone has their kinks, hell even I do, but after the fourth woman came out with a bandage on her neck, and bruises on her arms and legs, that was not fixing to happen under my watch.
If he wanted to stay in my hotel, he needed to get his shit together.
For the last three weeks, he’s had the same woman, who I recognized as Vivian Reith. Jarrell’s sister. Until today. Until she came to see him.
I make it a mission of mine to see these women firsthand, before and after they see him. Which is why I dress in my darkest attire, to hide my identity, and prop myself up against the back of the elevator.
At first, I wasn’t the least bit surprised.
That was until I saw her step into the elevator.
Dressed in khakis and a bright pink T-shirt, with a duffel bag on her shoulder.
If she was alone, I would’ve tossed her over my shoulder and took her straight to my room and locked her in there.
The need to protect her from going in there, is gnawing at me.
But it’s a line I can’t cross. I cannot get involved.
Not with her. So I let her go. I type away quickly at my phone, texting Griffith for information.
Me: Didn’t you say Jarrell’s granddaughter was engaged?
I recall him mentioning she was engaged at the party, and it was unusual that her fiancé wasn’t with her. Like that would have stopped me from approaching her that night. A text comes back immediately.
Griffith: Yes, to someone named Kraig Mason.
Me: Do you have anything on him?
Griffith: Nothing other than he comes from money. You can ask Chloe, if she doesn’t bite your head off first.
Me: Ha, thanks.
I shoot a text to my little sister, Chloe. Chloe handles public relations for our family. Being part of a family who owns the country’s most luxurious hotels comes with a lot of press.
Chloe: What do you want, asshole?
I smile at her words. Though we aren’t but a few years apart, she has always referred to me as the asshole brother, stating Griffith was her favorite growing up. Why? I’m not entirely sure.
Me: I’m offended. Who said a brother can’t just check in on his little sister?
Chloe: Like I care. What do you need? You only text me when you need something.
Me: That’s not true.
Chloe: Name one time you have called or texted when you didn’t need something.
Me: Birthday, Christmas.
Chloe: That isn’t a holiday or special occasion dumbass.
She has a good point. Unless it’s a holiday or her birthday, we rarely speak.
Me: I’m sorry. Griffith just told me to contact you and see what you may know of a Kraig Mason?
An email including an attachment from Chloe pops up seconds later. Griffith must have told her what I wanted. That snake. No wonder she thinks I’m the worst. I type out a simple thank you and open the email she sent.

Kraig Mason
Age 26
Son of Randall Mason.
Owner/ CEO of Mason Productions.
Occupation: None
Engaged to Payson Reith for 1 year, 3 months, 22 days
My mind races at what I’m reading. His father is a big-time movie producer, however, if I recall his father made a statement at a press conference about his retirement next November.
His son is said to take over afterwards.
So, Kraig is a nobody compared to me. Fantastic. This will be easier than I thought.
