Chapter Fifty-Four
Analleia
I drowned in memory, held aloft by the soft light on my face, the wind brushing against my cheeks.
My mother’s laugh echoed in my ears, her warm smile lifted my spirits, the familiarity of her hand clasped in mine.
The smell of laughter and wildflowers perfumed the air, raising a joy within my heart.
Here was goodness.
Here was life.
Family swallowed me whole. There was no more darkness. No more grief. Only the hope of never letting go, of never feeling pain again.
Lips brushed against my temple, arms enveloping me in a warm embrace. I leaned my head back, feeling at home.
Feeling the one emotion I thought I might never feel again.
Peace.
