Epilogue 2
Wade and Danielle
It was a beautiful June day. Wade and Danielle had wanted a real Texas wedding, so no one was surprised when the wedding party did a line dance up the aisle before the bride entered, twirling a lasso instead of carrying flowers.
Nor was anyone shocked when halfway down the aisle, Dani roped her husband-to-be.
The crowd in the church erupted in a cheer when Wade, being the stronger one, pulled her on down the aisle to him.
After the preacher pronounced them husband and wife, Wade kissed his bride.
Then he swept her into his arms to carry her to his horse, which was hitched outside.
Placing Dani on her feet, he climbed up into the horse’s saddle and then lifted her to join him.
As she sat sideways with her arms wrapped around his neck, the horse took off at a gallop, and her wedding dress flew in the wind.
The wedding party ─ those from the rodeo ─ took off behind them, cheering all the way.
An hour or so later, they were on the dance floor sharing their first dance as husband and wife.
The neighbors had prepared a spread, and under Elena’s supervision, everything went off without a hitch.
They would be spending the night in downtown Dallas and then, first thing in the morning, going to Scotland, a place they’d always wanted to go.
“Who taught you those lasso tricks?” he asked her.
She smiled cheekily. “Elena.”
He threw his head back and laughed. “Figures.”
“How did I do?”
“I thought you did great. You’re becoming a real cowgirl.”
“Why, thank you, Mr. Harrison.”
“I love you, Mrs. Harrison,” Wade said, leaning in to whisper close to her ear.
“And I love you, too.”
To this day, nobody knew about their turbulent beginnings.
It was still their secret. And nobody knew about their nights of skinny-dipping in his pond, or how she enjoyed riding him every chance she got in their bedroom.
She figured they would always have secrets, and the thought encouraged her to conjure up even more naughty ones for them to keep.
“You’re happy?” he asked.
“Very much so. I have a husband who loves me, and I’m getting a niece next month if not sooner. I suspect Libby is having a big baby.”
“I suspect so, too,” he said, placing a kiss on her lips. “And with Connor and Carrie announcing she is pregnant again, as well as Logan’s announcement that Claire is expecting too, that means there’s going to be a lot more babies this time next year.”
“Yes,” Dani agreed. “A lot more babies.”
“How soon can we have babies of our own?” Wade asked.
“I’m ready when you are.”
He grinned. “I’ll hold you to that. Don’t complain when I keep you in bed during our entire honeymoon.”
“My dear Mr. Harrison, I’m counting on it.”
