Valgar
Quincy’s chilly presence besides him only added to the longing for Mar’s sure welcome.
He would not do it, he was no child and Quincy deserved better than to be left behind like that. But he thought it might not matter as much when his new mate could probably sense his desire all too well.
“We have been married for fifteen years,” he forced himself to reveal, feeling like he was exposing his neck. Or worse, Mar’s. “No children,” he added.
For once, Quincy did not hide from his gaze, his own attentive. “But you have each other.”
Valgar’s heart skipped a beat. Of course, this man could sense a lot through the bond, but to find such true words... He nodded, feeling out of sorts all of a sudden. “Yes. By earth and sky.”

HE HELD THE DOOR OPEN for Quincy and offered a hand to help him descend. His omega had proven earlier that there was no need, but being back in his own land reminded Valgar of his finer manners.
Given how infrequently he had been allowed near the battlefield, he had no real excuse for neglecting the softer virtues, but his new omega had been projecting his desire to be left alone so strongly, Valgar had instinctively retreated.
It would not do. Quincy had to understand his place, and Valgar’s duty was not simply to do as the council demanded either.
