Chapter 53
We will be in Oceanview Harbour by this evening. This is perfect timing, considering I wanted to fight to the death with Pandora when the sun sets, and darkness looms across the sky.
My finger taps against the railing. My eyes narrow, and my teeth grit when dark thoughts puncture my mind at the thought of hurting her. It’s a battle I don’t want to have, as my heart wants to resist, but my mind is still consumed in a hunt.
There are moments throughout the day and night when I wake, dripping in sweat, itching for relief. I want a hunt. To devour something until it becomes nothing. But not any hunt. I want a challenge where I’m tested to my limits and can sense my life being on the line.
No one gives me that.
No one besides Pandora Hart.
But if she weren’t so entertaining, she wouldn’t be here, and I wouldn’t have gotten to know her.
“Fuck, Reen,” I hiss. “This is what you get for falling for the enemy.”
Is it falling? I’ve loved nothing before. The thought makes me want to kill it. But I cherish things. Walkyer and Emmerton, I’d die for them if it meant keeping them safe and alive. And Pandora?
Fuck.
When I saw her on the chair, eyes glistening with unshed tears, I wanted to burn the fucking world. Why isn’t that enough for me? I desire to protect her from others, but not from me…
A light knock taps on my door.
Sliding the glass door shut, I move through the room and open the door, only for a dagger to press against my throat and stern, jaded eyes to glare up at me.
She fucking knows how to keep me on my toes. Pandora has an eighty percent chance lead against me because when she does things like this, I’m going to fucking hesitate.
