Chapter 10 #2

He took my hand and led me to the table where there were lit candles and several dome-covered dishes.

We always sat next to one another, which I liked.

We could share bits from our plates or simply touch one another as we ate.

It was convenient that Kaba was left-hand dominant, although he was getting good at doing things equally with his right hand.

But since I was right-hand dominant, it made sitting and eating and touching much easier.

Kaba gestured for me to sit while he uncovered the dishes.

A smile spread across my face at the delightful array of dishes.

Each evening was a new adventure, as I eagerly anticipated what we would enjoy.

In this, we were both strangers to the majority of the foods available here.

There were some things I would miss foodwise from home, but I was assured that I could order things I really missed or portal back and shop.

But I was avoiding traveling back until after we had secured Kaba’s family.

I didn’t want to risk the operation even though the chances of anyone knowing me if I went to a completely different city to shop were slim.

We had pasta with a cheese sauce, potato fries with gravy on the side, and mini cabbage-like vegetables that were new to me but tasty when roasted and covered in these spicy and somewhat fishy flakes.

Then, we had bowls of blueberries and strawberries, which were similar to the first fruits I had fed Kaba for dessert.

“What’s the special occasion that you got berries?” I teased because he made sure we had them at least once a week. I wasn’t tired of them.

“I want to talk tonight, my mate.” Kaba’s calm tone belied the seriousness of those words.

“Okay? What shall we talk about?” I used a serving spoon to put some of each dish onto Kaba’s plate first before my own.

“Sex. I want to talk about sex.”

I almost dropped the spoon in my surprise. “Anything in particular?” I hedged.

“I want to have it, with you. I want to claim you as my mate.” Kaba’s straightforwardness was not new.

He didn’t mince words. It was one of the advantages of learning a new language.

While he knew a lot of Elvish already, he was quickly becoming fluent.

He understood far more than he could speak because speaking was still difficult for him.

While this conversation tonight was a surprise, his desire was not. I’d been having a hard time keeping my hands innocent. I was clueless when it came to teaching someone about sex. There was also this little thing I was nervous about, and I again was clueless on how to broach the subject.

Kaba hummed as he ate the pasta. “Did your mind change? Do you not want to be mate?”

“No, I haven’t changed my mind at all. I very much want to be your mate and am your mate as you are mine. I…” I paused, unsure of how to say my fears out loud. “I’m afraid.”

Kaba put his fork on the plate and twisted his upper body to face me fully. “You’re afraid of sex?” His inflection rose, indicating his confusion.

I took his hands and gently stroked his knuckles with my thumbs. “I’m not afraid of sex. I’m afraid of what will happen after the sex.”

Kaba looked even more confused but this wasn’t the first confusing conversation we’d had and I was not being clear with my words. “I don’t know if I’m ready to have children and I’m afraid that you’ll be upset.” I finally stated.

Kaba’s face lit with happiness, and his smile showed his teeth, which he was usually very careful about, something about it being aggressive. “I am not wanting child, either.”

“I am relieved. Do you want them ever?” The fact that he was an omega and what that meant for our future had terrified and fascinated me since the beginning.

“I think one day. Not now. Family more important.” He leaned forward and kissed my cheek before nuzzling into my neck.

“I spoke to Siku last week about this. I wanted to know more about heats.” Kaba pulled back again to look at me.

“He said that if your heat comes and we do not want to conceive, we could use special toys but those are not pleasant. Not horrible but not pleasant. He did say there are things we can use to prevent conception. I didn’t like the idea of having something between you and me. So, I asked Vamir about it.”

Kaba’s grip on my hands tightened. “What he say?”

“There is a spell that will stop my ejaculate from being fertile.”

Kaba gasped. “No. You cannot.”

I shook my head. “It’s not permanent. It only lasts a day and repeat use isn’t dangerous. It’s perfectly safe.”

Kaba relaxed, visibly relieved. “Okay.” He turned back to his plate. “Eat while hot.”

I kept one hand in his while I started in on the pasta. He was silent for a few minutes but I sensed that he was thinking hard about something. I knew he’d tell me when he found the words.

After another few minutes, he put his fork down again and tilted his head to me. “You miss…no…” I knew he was trying words in his head. “You forget.”

“What did I forget?” I replied earnestly.

“You not omega.” The smile that played across his lips was pure seduction.

I snorted lightly with a laugh. “No. I’m not.

And you’re right.” I thought I knew where he was heading with this.

“I forgot that penetration goes both ways.” I leaned over to kiss his cheek.

“I’m sorry. It was very thoughtless of me.

I think I focused so much on the fact that you could become pregnant that I forgot all else. Will you forgive me?”

He hummed in thought but I knew it was playful, especially with the glint of mischievousness in his eye. “Yes. I forgive.”

Kaba lunged forward, kissing my lips quickly. “So, sex tonight.”

It didn’t sound like a question to me. “Yes. We’ll go slow.”

“I want faster, harder, deeper.” He side-eyed me with a smirk.

I laughed. “Were you watching those videos again?” I came home the other day and he had porn playing on the display screen very loudly. I almost gave in then because he was naked and not hiding his arousal.

“Yes.” His eyes lit with desire.

“Eat first.” I pointed to his plate with my fork.

“Yes.” Kaba’s mirth was infectious and butterflies fluttered in my stomach in nervous anticipation.

I ate slowly knowing rushing would only upset my stomach, but I tried to enjoy the company around me rather than focus on what was happening soon.
