Chapter 111- The Special Invite
“Please make sure you send the flowers to my mom," I said to my assistant as I opened my office door and walked in. For my own peace of mind I had to change the entire office decor because every single thing reminded me of her.
For two years after she left, I left everything like that but when all I did was think of the beautiful memories we had here and not knowing where she was it was like I would go crazy.
I looked for her everywhere but I didn't find her. When it seems like I was getting somewhere, I'd come up empty. Like one time when she was spotted in Paris and the pictures were sent to me, I rushed there but we never found her, it was like she was trying to hide.
I sat down on my chair to continue working after the very hectic meeting I just had. Just as I sat down my phone vibrated with a message from Nathan and I took it to see that he sent me a video. He's always sending me things.
I really don't have time to be watching any video, I dropped my phone as I turned to my computer to finish the work that needed my attention. I had many things on my schedule to do today and then later tonight my mom is hosting a dinner party and I have to be there or I'm dead.

“ Are you forgetting that you have somewhere to be?" I raised my head when I heard my assistant's voice and I saw him standing at the door with his hands folded.
“ Where?" I asked as I signed the document I just finished reviewing.
“ Your mom's dinner,"
“ Fuck," I jumped up from my chair.
" Why didn't you tell me earlier? I was so buried in work I didn't even notice the day went by so quickly,” I said as I started arranging everything into my bag.
“ Chill, we still have time," he said…"we have about three hours to go,”
" You gave me a scare, let's go,” I said as I walked out of my office and he followed and then we got into the elevator as he pressed the button for the ground floor.
"I'll meet you at the event,” my assistant said as soon as we walked out of the building and I nodded before making my way to my car.
As soon as I was in the comfort of my car, I removed the jacket and tie I was wearing with a sigh as the driver started the car and drove off.
The car stopped in front of the house and I opened the door, excited to meet the only person that makes me want to come home and he's always excited to meet me.
" Daddy!” He shouted in joy as soon as he saw me as he ran to me and I lifted him into my arms.
" Did you miss Dad?” I asked and he nodded in excitement.
“ I did, guess what Dad? Granny sent me a lot of cookies and they were delicious, I saved some for you," he said as I started making my way upstairs ignoring the glare I was receiving from his mother, Mirabel.
It's been four years and I still couldn't bring myself to like her, it's not my fault.
I opened my room door and got in as I kept my son on the bed while he talked about his adventures and fun he has at school. For a four year old he sure has a lot of stories to tell.
…. “And then, and then Charlie played the villain and I was the hero and I saved everyone,” he said and I clapped in excitement.
A knock came on the door and I knew it was his nanny, he knew too.
“ See you later Dad," he said as he kissed my cheek before running to the door and I couldn't help but laugh when he had to go on his toes to open it as he ran out to meet his nanny.
I stood up to go to the bathroom so I could get ready for the dinner party. Seriously, I no longer have interests for any social events but I'm doing this for my Mom.
As much as I wanted to just sleep, I forced myself to go get ready.
Hopefully the night goes well.

“ I don't think I should go," I said to Cherry for the hundredth time as she tried to convince me to go to the event with the television president.
“ You should definitely go, this will be your first time you're attending any social event as the face behind The Veil of Mist," she said,
“ I don't have what to wear," I said as I fell on the bed in exhaustion.
She looked at me before turning to look at the dresses that were brought to me to choose from.
“ You're going and that's final," she said before she dragged me from the bed and pushed me into the bathroom to get ready.
“ Sir, I'd like to inform you that she agreed to go, you can start getting ready,” I knew she was talking to Liam and I glared at her before I went to shower.
By the time I was done dressing, I felt good, not really excited but I felt good. I chose a blue floor length mermaid tail silk dress that had short sleeves. For the shoes I decided to wear silver heels and I took a silver purse.
“ Don't you look amazing? Liam is going to…” I narrowed my eyes at her and she kept quiet.
I looked at myself once more in the mirror before turning to Cherry.
“If my night goes wrong, I'll blame it on you,”
“ Fineee, come on let's go,"
