Chapter 123- Unpleasant Surprise

Over the years, the park has been one of my favorite places to go whenever I feel like giving up, especially because I'd see little kids running around and having the time of their life, even though I wish my son was one of them.

There was just something about a kid laughing that warms my heart, it was like the sound was telling me I'll be alright and would get through this.

I was so lost in my thoughts when someone tapped my shoulder and I jumped.

“ Tag, you're it," I heard a little boy say and I turned to him with a smile.

“ Hello pretty lady, wanna play tag?” he asked and I couldn't help but laugh at the way he said it. Like a gentleman asking a lady for a date.

“ Oh, since you're the one asking, I'll think about it.” I said and she gave me a cheeky smile.

“ What's your name?" he suddenly asked,

“ Anna, what's yours?" I asked him.

“ My name is Sammy, I'm here with my nanny, she likes to bring me to the park but my mom doesn't like to come to the park, my dad comes with me sometimes but he had to go to work today," okay that was too much information but I couldn't help but smile at his cuteness.

“ So are you going to play tag with me?" He asked again,

“ Sure," I said as I stood up from the picnic mat I was sitting on then I tapped his shoulder.

“ Tag, you're it," I said before I started running and he chased after me.

His nanny joined us and I couldn't deny that for the first time in a long time, I felt genuine happiness and it was all thanks to this little boy.

“ I'm going to tell my Dad when I get home that I beat you," he said and I laughed as I tried to catch my breath.

“ Yes, you win Sammy," I said and he jumped in victory.

“ Thank you for playing with my boy, we had fun but it's time for us to go home, his mom would be mad if we're late.” his nanny said.

“ That's okay, I had fun too. He's such a sweet boy," I said as I ruffled his hair but he pushed my hand away with a cute laugh.

" Bye lady,” he said as he waved before walking away with his nanny.

I just watched them until they disappeared out of sight.

My stomach suddenly growled in hunger and I couldn't help but be thankful that the little boy left before this happened or I'd die of embarrassment.

I walked back to the car as I got in then I told the driver to take me to the nearest restaurant.

The car parked outside the restaurant and I stepped out before walking into the building. The restaurant was simple yet classy.

Tables were elegantly set with crisp, white linens, polished silverware, and crystal-clear wine glasses. Each table had a small fresh floral arrangement with red roses adding a touch of natural beauty. The seating consists of high-quality dark wood chairs with comfortable plush cushions.

There were a few booths with soft leather seats lined one side of the room, offering a bit of privacy for those who prefer it. People like me.

The restaurant floor was made of polished hardwood, enhancing the warmth of the space. When I was satisfied with admiring the beauty of the place I walked to one of the booths to sit down and immediately a waitress came to attend to me.

“ Hello ma'am," she greeted with a smile and I smiled back.

“ Welcome to our restaurant, what would you like to order? I could make a few suggestions from our new dishes if you don't mind,” she said but I shook my head.

" I'd just like pasta and maybe a bottle of red wine,” I said as she jotted it down before respectfully telling me she'll be right back the she walked away.

I brought out my phone to keep myself busy till my food was ready.

I was still scrolling through my phone when I felt a shadow hovered over me and I paused as I slowly lifted my head up.

“ You know I thought my eyes were deceiving me, but it is indeed you, what an unpleasant surprise. Why did you come back, you little snake?”
