Chapter 1

Charity

I woke up to the awful sound of my alarm. My bones ached. My head pounded. My skin itched. Today was the day. My dad was going to drop me at some nightclub and leave me there for good.

My health had been declining since I presented as an omega a few weeks ago.

My nails were brittle, my muscles were atrophied, my eyes were dry.

My throat felt like pure sandpaper. But I knew the only way to rid myself of this feeling was to find my mates and let them rut me.

But I also knew that would probably never happen.

I was 23, a late bloomer of an omega, with no connections or name recognition.

"Charity! You have thirty minutes before we leave!

" My father yelled from downstairs. I groggily got up, my whole body fatigued.

I brushed my teeth, put on a nice outfit, and put on some concealer and mascara.

As I walked down the stairs to the kitchen, I noticed how hollow my body felt, how hollow my bones felt.

But I knew that if I ate anything, I would throw it right back up, since my body started rejecting solid foods a few days ago.

When my father saw me, he clenched his jaw and looked me up and down, before nodding once. "Let's go. We don't want to keep them waiting."

"K-keep who waiting?" I asked, shakily following him to the car.

"The owners of Halo, you stupid girl! We've been talking about this all week!" He grunted, grabbing my wrist and pulling me into the passenger seat of the car. He walked around to driver's side, got in, and we left.

As we got closer and closer, dread filled my system. I was going to die soon. The state my body was in wasn't sustainable. My life was going to end at a luxury nightclub, and I had no choice.

When we arrived, I carefully looked at the dark, sleek building, which clearly held secrets in its walls. I carefully got out of the car and followed my dad inside.

A bouncer stopped us at the entrance.

"State your name and reason for visiting," he said, looming over us.

"My name is Anton Ellis, and I have my daughter, Charity Ellis, with me. We're here to sign her into a dancer contract." The bouncer repeats the message while holding down a button on his earpiece.

"The boss is waiting for you inside," he said, opening the steel door in front of us.

We walk in, and my knees nearly buckle. The most overwhelming scent of musk and cinnamon hit my senses. I had never smelled something so delectable. I held back a whine, my omega desperate to find out where the scent was coming from.

My vision fades in and out, but I stay standing and keep myself conscious.

Eventually we reach a point where a security guard leads us to a separate room.

He opens the door and we enter the room.

I can't hold back the whine that leaves my throat when the musk and cinnamon scent amplifies and floods my senses.

My eyelids flutter, and before me sits the most captivating man I had ever seen.

Alphas had never smelled as good as this one did.

And that could only mean one thing. A fire burns beneath his grey eyes as he realizes that I'm his mate.

His jaw clenches, and I freeze as I look at him. He nods at us.

"Please. Sit," he says, his knuckles white as he clenches his fists. My father grabs my wrist and forces me into one of the chairs in front of the man's desk. My father sits in the other after giving my wrist a painful squeeze.

"I've brought her." My father gestures to me, smiling maliciously as he looks at the man.

"I thought I made it clear on our call when I said we don't allow omegas to be dancers.

Your daughter is clearly an omega, and we will not hire her.

Please come back another time with a beta who meets the requirements of our dancers," the man says, his voice smooth like velvet.

My heart breaks a bit as the increment of hope I had at him being my mate disintegrated.

"But the girl may stay. You, sir, must leave.

" I blink up at him, shocked at his words.

My father splutters, shooting up from his chair in disbelief as his face twists in anger. "Excuse me? We've been discussing this for weeks! You owe me compensation for not following up on my offer."

The man simply takes a breath and narrows his eyes at my dad, his gaze menacing.

"I owe you nothing. Your offer was devoid the second you lied about her being a beta.

So please leave the premises before I have someone make you leave the premises.

" His voice was chilling. So calm, so secure, like he'd dealt with this a million times over.

My dad storms out and I can hear each of his footsteps as he exits the building.

The man looks at me for a moment before pressing a button hidden on his desk. "Matthias, Marcel, Zade, Xander. My office. Now."

"Copy," a voice says, and a minute later, four more alphas entered.

I inhaled each of their scents, my body getting woozier and woozier as they got closer to me.

They were ominous and intimidating, tattoos peeking out from beneath their sleeves and muscles pushing against the fabric of their suits.

My nostrils were so overwhelmed by their scents that it was hard to pinpoint what each one smelled like exactly.

But I did know that they all smelled like heaven and ecstasy.

My omega whined loudly as my need for them increased, my body realizing how desperate it was for an alpha. Stars dotted my vision as they got closer to me. They were talking amongst each other but I couldn't understand what they were saying, all sounds muffled as everything I could see went fuzzy.

Once they heard my whine, they spurred into action, one of them scooping me up into their arms and holding me close to them, a steady purr emanating from their chest.

I focused on the firmness of their grip, the safety that engulfed me, as my vision went black and my consciousness left me.
