4. Ellie

CHAPTER FOUR

SULLY UNLOCKED THE DOOR and carried me over the threshold of my hotel room like I was a package he’d been tasked with delivering, his strides purposeful until he reached the end of the bed.

Or, at least, I had to assume that was where he stopped.

I couldn’t really see anything beyond the white shirt he was wearing, stretching over his back muscles.

I should have protested being flopped over my ex-boyfriend’s shoulder and carted around like a rag doll, but what point was there, really?

Sully was right; it was tiring always being the one who went home alone. Especially when you used to be the one who always had someone waiting for you. Who would lovingly undo your heels and remove your makeup before bending you over a bathroom countertop and—

“Tell me what you want, Eleanor,” Sully rasped before tossing me on the bed. “And be explicit.”

There would be no loving acts of service tonight, no makeup removal or anything of the sort. But the rest of it? Sully seemed ready to deliver, and I was going to take advantage of it.

Just once. Just one night, one more time, and then never again.

I watched as Sully yanked his shirt off from the back, pulling it up and over his head.

And I knew—it would be worth it. So very worth it.

“I want you to fuck me,” I said bluntly—as requested.

His eyes flashed, and the corner of his mouth curled. “It’s because you know I’m good at it, isn’t it?”

I rolled my eyes, trying to hide how much his words and tone affected me.

And how right he was.

“Just shut up and touch me,” I said, breathy laughter filtering out of me.

Sully laughed, too, but it sounded painful. “Bossy again.”

I winced. Twice now, he’d brought that up.

“Sorry, I—”

“I didn’t say to apologize,” he interrupted, and a sense of ease ran through me.

Sully raked a hand through his hair, and I tried really hard not to let my gaze linger on…well, all of him. His torso was bare and toned, a golden glow to his skin, reminiscent of summers past.

“I asked for it,” he reminded me. “For you to tell me what you want.”

“So you did.”

He blew a breath out, and I knew we had to keep the momentum of this going before the awkward silences returned, before it fell apart, before I didn’t get to feel him again.

“Keep going,” he directed, and relief drenched me.

He was making this too easy, when it should be hard. Impossible. There should be an impenetrable line that we couldn’t cross, but Sully seemed determined to erase it—at least for tonight.

Shamefully, it was exactly what I needed. And exactly what I wanted, even though I shouldn’t.

Rules, though—we should have rules. Or something to ensure that this didn’t entirely blow up in our faces tomorrow morning.

“No kissing,” I blurted, and even as the words came out of my mouth, I found my eyes dropping to his lips. My breath caught in my throat, my body clammy, just at the thought of kissing him again, of feeling his mouth on mine. Similarly, Sully stilled, like he’d never expected me to say that.

Had he been planning to kiss me? Did he want to kiss me?

It just seemed like the one part of this entire thing that would be a terrible idea.

No one kissed me like Sully did, and no matter how badly I might ache to experience it again, I wasn’t sure I needed that reminder, wasn’t sure I could handle it if I was going to walk away again in the morning.

Which was another important aspect of the rules.

“This is just one night for old time’s sake, right?” I clarified. “And kissing feels like…more.”

He blew out a breath. It was slow despite the rapid way his eyes seemed to be moving over me, taking in every inch of my body on the bed before him, as though trying to determine if I were real.

“Fine,” he grunted as his eyes made their way lower…

and lower. I could feel them, eliciting heat beneath my skin.

I burned in a way I hadn’t experienced in so long.

“But you’re going to have to tell me where I can’t kiss.

Because I’d already made a lot of plans in my head involving my mouth between your legs. ”

“You made plans? In the last…what? Five minutes?”

“Sure, something like that.”

I choked on air but somehow managed to get out, “Fine. Yeah, that’s acceptable.”

Sully’s gaze snapped to mine. “Acceptable? You think whatever I’m going to do with my mouth between your legs is acceptable?”

“You know what I mean.”

“Acceptable,” Sully scoffed again, more to himself than anyone. He shook his head, scrubbing his jaw. I wondered if there was any stubble on it. Wondered if I’d feel it scrape my thighs.

He dropped to his knees, then, his large hands encasing my hips, yanking them to the edge of the bed.

A familiar thrill zapped my core as my dress bunched beneath me.

Within seconds, Sully pushed it the rest of the way up, until the silky fabric was around my waist, and I was bare except for my underwear.

I tried not to feel self-conscious, especially as Sully settled between my legs… and stared.

Heat worked up my body, sending a flush across my chest, neck, cheeks. Thank God for the dark room.

“Sawyer,” I breathed, squirming a little.

I could feel myself getting wetter from the weight of his stare, the intoxication of his proximity, and the swirl of his cologne in the air.

His eyes darkened like he could tell, but I didn’t want him to feel, I don’t know, obligated in any way. “You don’t have to—”

“Don’t do that,” he muttered without looking away.

“What?”

“Pretend you don’t know how much I fucking love eating pussy.”

His eyes flicked to mine for the briefest moment, and I felt paralyzed by it.

Oh, God. This was a mistake, wasn’t it? This was absolutely a mistake, and I should tell him to—

“I thought lace underwear irritated your bikini line,” he said, sliding a finger beneath the opposing lace and yanking it to the side. I gasped when his knuckle grazed my clit and had to work to catch my breath before I could answer.

“It does.”

He dragged his gaze away from my core to scowl at me.

“Then why are you wearing it?”

“Because it’s cute.”

My answer didn’t appease him, and before I knew it, my underwear was ripped off me, and pieces of lace littered the ground.

“Sawyer,” I groaned. “You can’t just…do that.”

“I’ll get you new ones. Better ones.”

“No. You’re not buying me underwear when we’re not even—”

My words vanished as Sully spread my thighs wide, dropped his head between my legs, and swirled his tongue around my clit.

Our groans were simultaneous, so in sync, sparking that familiar feeling of kismet. Like him and I—we were meant for something. We should have been meant for something with the way we moved like we were one.

Dropping my head back, I squeezed my eyes shut as Sully dragged his tongue through my pussy, exploring me like it was his first time. I felt the tiniest hint of soft stubble graze my inner thighs, and I was in heaven.

“Not even what, El?” he growled, sending vibrations rocketing through me. “Don’t tell me what we’re not when my tongue is inside you. Fuck, you taste—”

He didn’t finish his sentence, instead sucking my clit into his mouth, making my hips shoot off the bed and my eyes fly open.

“Oh my God,” I gasped as my fingers dove into his hair, tugging, begging just as much as my hips were. More…I needed more.

“Eleanor,” Sully murmured, making me dizzy.

Hearing him say my name like that hit me just as hard as anything else he was doing with his mouth.

Which was a lot—the little flicks of his tongue were driving me wild, sending wave after wave of familiar but renewed pleasure.

“I hate how good this pussy is,” he grunted, his grip on my hips tightening.

And maybe that should make me feel a certain way, but I agreed.

I understood. God, how I understood. “How good you are.”

Breathlessly, I nodded. “I hate…it, too.”

Sully’s eyes shifted to mine, his expression unreadable as he remained poised between my legs. “No, you don’t.”

“I don’t?”

I didn’t know what to say to that. It was hard to think about anything at all, especially stringing words together coherently, when Sully’s mouth was between my legs.

“No, El,” he insisted, all gritty and gloriously hot, even if he was arguing with me.

“You love it. You love knowing that I’m going to make you come.

That you don’t have to worry about anything but the flick of my tongue on your pretty little clit—” He demonstrated, and my eyes rolled back, likely proving his point.

“—exactly where you need it. You love knowing that I’m going to take care of you because I know everything that you fucking like. ”

Goddamn him.

“What if what I like has changed?” I panted.

His gaze snared on mine. “I guess we’ll find out.”

“Guess so,” I said, and it sounded like a challenge—like I’d just given Sully permission to splay me out on the bed and unravel me until he knew each and every little way I’d changed.

Truth was, I had changed. I wasn’t the same woman who’d walked away five years ago, but in the bedroom? All I still yearned for was his touch—in any way I could get it.

Which meant that when Sully dove back in a moment later, I was lost. He was everywhere.

I could feel him in the tips of my toes and the race of my pulse.

In the vibrating thrum racing through my limbs and the itch of my fingers, which couldn’t seem to get enough of him in their grasp.

On the surface of my skin and so, so much deeper, especially when Sully dragged his touch through my pussy to my entrance and thrust inside.

I groaned, rocking my hips to chase the feel of his fingers, which were already retreating, toying with me.

“Come on, El,” he said, voice sinfully soft. Such a juxtaposition to how hard he drove his fingers back inside me, making my back arch off the bed. “Come on my face like the good girl I know you still are.”
