CHAPTER 56
Andie
Leo guided me through a series of complicated underarm turns, leading into a triple spin.
I smiled as we finished the song. I felt good, better than I had in the entire fifteen months I had been on Ptekennan, and I loved being able to complete the routines we had developed.
The past two rehearsals we had focused on adding a few flourishes to enhance our transitions to create a more seamless, exciting routine.
“I think we’ve got it,” I said, and he nodded enthusiastically.
“Yep. I’m going to miss this when I leave,” he said. “It’s been so much fun.”
“Me, too,” I said. “Not just the dancing, but playing music together too.”
“I’ll sing you some more Latin songs on my video messages,” he said. “I’m taking the bongos with me. I’ve never really sung for my partners, but I think they’ll like it with the drums.”
“I love it!” I said. “Play for them and record it so I can see their reactions. And I’d love for us to record some more songs together. We can do the tracks separately and put them together.”
“Ooooh, I like that idea. We could put out a whole album of Earth songs,” he suggested.
“Let’s do it! Ok, I need to get home and take care of the animals.
I’ll see you tomorrow about an hour before the performance, so we can rehearse.
You’ve got your costume?” I asked. I was a little nervous about mine.
The dress had an open back. I loved the way it looked on me, but I was unsure about having Dakleth’s mating mark on display.
I didn’t want him to read too much into it.
I didn’t want to think about how much I might be reading into it.
“Yes, Robnar dropped it off. First alien drag queen I’ve seen, by the way.”
“Shut up, he’s fabulous. I love that he’s willing to wear more than those boring skirts that you see on all the Ptexari men.”
“Boring? You’re spending too much time looking at the skirts and not the bare torsos and powerful thighs on display. This whole planet is full of eye candy, honey,” he batted his lashes at me.
I giggled. “All right, calm your hormones. You’ve got Aldrin and Gafand back in your suite.”
“Thank God!” he exclaimed. “I neeeeed to get laid.”
“And, I’m out!” I said, before the conversation could devolve further. “See you tomorrow!”
“Bye, brighteyes,” he said, giving me a quick hug.
