Chapter 9 #2

“Why didn’t you use protection?” I questioned as I attempted to lift my body up. It was a struggle, but I managed to sit myself up so that my back was against the headboard.

“What’s the big deal? They have pharmacies all over this side of town. We can easily get you a Plan B when we wake up later.”

“The big deal is that you had sex with me while I was unconscious, and then you didn’t even bother to use protection or pull out.

You don’t think that’s a big deal?” I kept my tone even when all I really wanted to do was cuss him the fuck out.

The only thing that stopped me from showing my ass was the fact that I wasn’t sure if I would be able to make it out of the room safely.

My legs were tingling, and my body was still moving at a slow pace.

I searched around for my phone but came up empty-handed. I was supposed to call Logic back once I made it to the hotel room, and I was sure he had probably called me a dozen times.

“You’re overreacting. Shit, most bitches I fuck with are usually begging me to take the rubber off. Just relax and go with the flow. I get tested once a month, so you don’t have anything to worry about.”

There was so much I wanted to say, but my gut was telling me to keep calm.

“Hey, have you seen my phone?” I asked in the softest tone I could muster up.

“Umm, I think you put it in your purse. If I’m not mistaken, it’s still in the car. I was so focused on carrying you, I must’ve forgot it.”

I tried to play it off as if I wasn’t nervous, but something felt off.

“Do you mind going to get it?”

“Can’t you wait until later? It’s four o’clock in the morning. Who the fuck do you need to call this late?”

“I was supposed to check with my babysitter earlier. My daughter had a fever, and she was supposed to send me an update. I just wanna make sure that she’s okay.” The lie came out so smoothly, I almost believed it myself.

“Alright, damn. You owe me when I get back. I’m gonna need to see what that mouth can do before you leave.”

I wanted to tell him that he could kiss my ass, but instead I nodded my head.

I had to think smart and focus on making sure I made it back home safely.

My plan was to wait until he fell back asleep and then order an Uber to take me back to the Airbnb.

Then, I would block his number and never speak to him again.

When Damacio walked out of the room, I tried to move my body to see how it would feel. My legs felt like noodles, but I managed to stand up on my own. My head was throbbing, and I knew that I was going to have the worst hangover as I traveled back home.

I wasn’t sure how long Damacio had been gone, but I was alarmed when I heard multiple voices on the other side of the door. I cracked it open slightly so that I could hear what was going on.

“I thought that shit you put in her drink was supposed to keep her out for the rest of the night. She’s wide awake right now and getting on my fucking nerves.” I heard Damacio’s voice, and it scared me. This wasn’t the same guy I had been spending my time with.

“You must not have put enough in there. The last two bitches Jeremiah and I took down were out for almost twelve hours. I thought for sure she would be a goner since she had those other shots on top of the drinks you made her. It’s not a big deal, though.

Just pour some in her water and shake it up.

She should be back asleep within the next thirty minutes.

Plus, ol’ girl said she was a freak anyway, so it really doesn’t matter. We gon’ have fun regardless.”

I recognized the other voice as his teammate Rommel. He had tried to shoot his shot with me multiple times this weekend, but I paid him no mind. I assumed that they were all used to sharing, and he must’ve thought I was on the same type of time.

“Alright, bet. I’ma go grab her another bottle and put some lemon in there to throw her off.

Honestly, I would have wifed the bitch if I hadn’t seen her baby daddy blowing up her phone so much.

She made it seem as though she was single, but clearly she’s playing games.

You really can’t trust these bitches,” Damacio spat.

“It’s all good. Once she’s knocked out, we are going to slut her out and send her ass packing. She doesn’t know what she missed out on, bro.”

My legs grew weak, and my palms were sweaty as I shuffled back over to the bed. It felt like I was in a fucking twilight zone, and I couldn’t believe that this was happening to me. The one time that I took a chance to live on the wild side, this is what happened.

I tried to calm myself down by taking deep breaths, but the more time passed, the more I began to freak out. When I heard the sound of the doorknob jiggling, I tried to lie down as if I had gone back to sleep.

“Hey, baby. I brought you some water. You need to rehydrate, especially since you threw up a few hours ago. I brought you a BC powder, too. I’m not sure if it’s too late, but it’s better late than never, right?” Damacio walked over to me with a pre-opened water bottle and a packet.

I tried to play it off on the outside, but internally, I was about to have a panic attack.

“Thank you. Did you find my phone?” I probed. I was certain that Logic and my friends were more than likely asleep, but I still needed to let someone know where I was, just in case something bad happened.

“Oh, yeah. Let me run back into the kitchen and go get it. Drink up.” As soon as he stepped out of the room, I leaned over and poured more than half of the water underneath the bed, then pretended to wipe my mouth when he re-entered the room.

“Damn, you must’ve been thirsty,” he said with a smile as he walked over with my purse in his hand.

“Yeah. Would you mind bringing me another one? I promise I won’t ask you for anything else.”

“I got you. I’ll be right back.” He winked before leaving the room. I waited a few seconds and then dumped the rest of the water under the bed.

I hurriedly retrieved my phone and sent a text to Logic. I didn’t have time to say much, so I simply said 911.

I sent the same message in the group chat before Damacio re-entered the room.

“Alright, I got you another water and a slice of pizza. I’m gonna chill in the living room for a little bit, but I’ll be back in a few minutes. If you need something, let me know.”

I gave him a simple head nod and watched as he left the room.

When I reopened my phone, I saw that my messages had still only been delivered in the group chat.

I assumed it would be the same for Logic, but I got the shock of my life when I saw the message had been read.

Bubbles flashed on the screen, but then they disappeared.

I waited to see what he would say next, but he said nothing.

After a few minutes had passed and I still hadn’t heard anything from him, I decided to send him another message.

Me: I got myself into a fucked up situation, and I’m scared. I don’t know whether to call the police or try to find a way out. I’m freaking out.

I was hours away from home, so there wasn’t much he could do, but since he and East conducted business out here, I thought maybe someone close by could help. I was always taught not to call the cops growing up, but I had a daughter to think about.

My phone showed that he had read the message, and the bubbles popped up yet again. When he finally responded, his message left me with more questions than answers, but I decided to do what he said.

Big Brudder LJ: Delete this.

Oddly enough, I breathed a sigh of relief.

For as long as I could remember, Keynauri, Logic, and East were my protectors.

I never had to worry about whether or not I could talk big shit on the playground because I knew I had them to back me up.

Even after Keynauri was locked up, his boys made sure that I was taken care of.

Life hadn’t been easy for me over the last few years, and there were times when I thought about ending it all, but I could never say that the men in my life weren’t in my corner.

I groaned internally as I thought about East and the way he would react.

He wasn’t happy about me going on this trip to begin with, and this would only add fuel to the fire.

Honestly, I didn’t care if he gave me one million lectures as long as I made it out of this situation.

Some lessons you had to learn for yourself, and I would never make this mistake again.

I was too busy trying to prove to East that I was grown and could move on with someone else, but it wasn’t worth it in the end.

All I wanted to do was crawl into the bed with him and my baby girl and never leave the house again.

I heard what sounded like knocking, so I got up from the bed. Instead of using the sheet to cover me, I sifted through Damacio’s luggage and grabbed a T-shirt and a pair of hoop shorts.

“Lyric!” I heard my name being called, but it wasn’t being called by who I expected. Nevertheless, I hauled ass and stepped out of the room. Summyah and Kiara were both in the doorway, but it looked like Damacio was blocking them from coming in.

“What’s going on?” I asked, staggering closer to where they were. My legs were still wobbly, but I wasn’t gonna let it stop me. I was determined to get out of there one way or the other.

“Hey, baby. I was just telling your friends you were asleep and that they didn’t need to come get you.

I plan to drop you off at the Airbnb in the morning so that you can catch your flight.

For some reason, they were worried about you, but I assured them you were okay.

” Damacio tried to hide his annoyance, but he wasn’t very good at it.

“Actually, I’m gonna go with them. We have a long day ahead of us, and I really need to get some rest.” I pretended to yawn, raising my arms over my head. I had no idea how they got to me so quickly, but I knew better than to question my blessings.

“I thought you were going to spend the rest of the night with me? We have plans, remember?” Damacio insisted.
