Chapter 28 #3
Lyric woke up this morning and told me that we had a flight to catch, but she refused to tell me what we were doing or where we were going.
“Hmm, that name has a nice ring to it.” She snickered.
I didn’t find shit funny about what she and her little posse of criminals had done.
After I met up with Gunna, I tried to call Lyric, but her location was off, and so was her phone.
Apparently, Lyric dropped Noodle off to Keynauri’s house and told him that she, Naiari, and Nova were going to a lounge because she needed to vent.
I thought the shit sounded suspicious, and I was correct.
Turned out those three snuck off, tracked Enoka down, busted the windows, slashed her tires, and set her car on fire.
The only reason I knew about it was because Aunt Pam called to be messy and told me.
My mother was under the impression that one of her man’s side chicks had done it to get revenge.
She had no idea that my little fire starter was the culprit.
“Yeah, whatever. You’d better make that the last time you and your accomplices do something like that. You already know how I am when it comes to you.”
“Well, I can’t promise you I won’t do anything crazy, just like you can’t promise me you won’t hurt anyone for messing with me.
I’m sorry, but that lady had it coming. She’s lucky that I’m not a killer, and I didn’t have enough gasoline for the house, too.
Enoka messed with the wrong one. I told her about playing with my man’s feelings, and she wanted to test the waters.
” Lyric shrugged as she turned into the long-term parking at the airport.
I gave her the side-eye because she was full of secrets.
“How did you find out where she lived? I didn’t even have that information.”
It was a question I had been wanting to ask since I found out what she did this morning.
She came home at midnight and immediately hopped in the shower, then fucked me to sleep.
The pussy was so good, I fell asleep before I could ask her where she had been.
Then, when I found out what she had been up to, I had even more questions.
“Ciyani hooked me up with someone who’s good with tracking. I paid him for a rush order, and he sent me her address within an hour,” she informed me.
“Are you talking about Jett?”
Jett was a known tech wizard, and I had used him more than a handful of times to get information on someone.
“You’re asking a lot of questions. Let me find out you’re the feds.” Lyric smirked.
“Don’t play with me, woman.”
“Okay, fine. Yes, it was Jett.”
“You are something else, you know that?” I didn’t know whether to be upset or proud.
“Who knew making new friends could come with benefits?”
“Yeah, I’m still trying to figure out how you got Nova and Ari to go with you. You and Ari went from enemies to partners in crime.”
“Technically, we were never enemies. I was just in my feelings. Plus, she and Nova have been checking on me a lot since everything went down with Nate and the gross sisters. As soon as I explained to them what happened, they were ready to ride,” she explained.
“I appreciate the sentiment, but you don’t need to defend me. I’m a big boy. I can handle my own battles.”
“It doesn’t work like that. You’re mine to love, and the same way you protect me, I’m gonna defend you against anyone. I’ll never sit back and watch anyone hurt you and not do anything about it. So if I gotta burn a bitch’s car up to get my point across, so be it.”
“Just like that? You riding for me, Lola B?”
“Straight like that.”
We parked in the lot and caught a shuttle to the airport.
I was caught off guard when Lyric asked me to grab the luggage because I never saw her pack anything.
When we went to the international side, my brow raised.
I sent a message to Keyz and Logic, but all Keyz said was to have a good time and then attached a picture of Ari in bed with their three kids and Noodle.
It reminded me of the photo he posted while we were on vacation.
You would have thought Symphonee belonged to them because she fit right in.
We went through TSA, and Lyric handed them our passports.
I was still confused about what was going on, but I decided to let her take the lead.
After we made it past TSA, we stopped by a shop where we grabbed some snacks for the flight.
I noticed Lyric grabbed a bunch of things, and when we got to the register, she nudged me out of the way to pay for our items.
“You’re showing out today. I’ma let you make it this time, but you know I don’t like you paying for anything,” I told her.
“Well, if it makes you feel better, the money came from your account. Just relax and let big mama take care of you.” She smirked.
I carried our things and followed her to the gate. When I saw our destination, I couldn’t even hide the smile on my face. “Are you for real right now?”
“Yes. You’ve been under a lot of pressure, and you haven’t had any time to relax. I thought a quick trip would be the perfect way to get you to unwind. Plus, I’ve been craving some ramen, and I figured this would be the perfect way to cure my cravings.”
Little mama had blown my mind because the last thing I expected was a trip to Tokyo.
It was on my bucket list, and I casually mentioned I wanted to go one day, but I hadn’t made any plans to go.
The fact that she heard me and put a plan in motion made me feel seen.
I’d never had anyone plan a date, let alone a trip for me, and she had pulled out all of the stops.
We flew business class, stayed in a five-star luxury hotel, and spent the entire trip immersing ourselves in the culture and food.
My favorite part was our late-night trips to the 7/11.
Japan had all kinds of unique snacks, and we stayed up late, trying them and recording food reviews for her channel.
We stayed for four days, and I didn’t want to leave.
Lyric already had my heart on lock, but she truly showed me how much she loved me.
A trip to the jeweler was well overdue, and I couldn’t wait to make her my wife.
