Chapter Forty-Two

Gavin

Ben looked skeptical as he sat on the edge of the bed, but Gavin knew what he was doing. He went to the closet and pulled down his suitcase. “Can you stop on your way home tomorrow and buy more?”

“Why don’t we just run out and get some now?” Ben asked from behind him.

“Because,” Gavin said as he dug in the pockets of his suitcase. He found a few condoms but not what he was looking for. “If you leave now, you’ll get hungry, then you’ll call and ask if you should grab dinner, and I’ll think it’s a good idea because we can fuck all night and I won’t have to cook, and then you’ll stop for food and it’ll take forever because it always does.” Yes. He knew he had some stashed. “And then Tina will be home and it’ll be midnight before we go to bed and we’ll be tired.” He held four packets of lube in front of him like a bouquet. “These’ll do for tonight.”

He didn’t wait for Ben to respond. He simply pushed Ben back on the bed and climbed over him. “I think I deserve a commendation for resourcefulness.”

Ben moved under him, shifted his hips until their cocks pressed together. “More than one,” he muttered as he caught Gavin’s earlobe in his teeth.

“Do we have to move back into the kitchen, or are you okay with boring almost-married sex in our bed?” A shudder ran through Gavin as Ben slipped his hand lower, trailed his finger against his entrance.

“I’m okay with anything as long as it’s you and me.” Ben surprised him then and rolled Gavin under him. He slipped his hand between them when Gavin tore the first packet open, and didn’t take long at all as he prepped Gavin, slicked his fingers inside. He was faster than usual, sloppy, eager. Gavin didn’t mind. He liked Ben like this, liked the urgency, liked the way all the ridiculous failures from the hour before had burned away. The heat between them had been building for weeks, and now it threatened to take over.

“Shit,” Gavin muttered, gritting his teeth as Ben pressed in slowly. It’d been so long he’d almost forgotten how to do this.

He’d also forgotten how Ben was.

“You okay?” Ben had frozen, pulled back so he could see Gavin’s face. And that look he gave Gavin? Concern and tenderness. He’d been getting that look from Ben since the day they’d met.

“I’m good,” he whispered, reaching for Ben’s hair, pushing it back from his brow. “Need you,” he added, holding his breath before letting it out in a long, slow exhale as Ben pushed in again.

It only took a moment for them to find their rhythm together. Ben snapped his hips forward, and Gavin let out a hard sigh, his cock slick with precome as he ground his hips against Ben, shifting for the right position until Ben whispered, “You gotta stop moving like that.”

Gavin couldn’t help but grin as he met Ben’s thrust, grinding against him again. “Like this?”

Ben only growled in response, and Gavin did it again, drawing a small whimper, a curse from Ben before he kicked up the tempo. One hard thrust after another, their bodies warm and slicked with sweat, before Ben dropped his hand between them and wrapped his fingers around Gavin’s erection.

Then it was Gavin’s turn to hiss a curse. Regardless of their intentions, neither of them were going to last long. “Christ, don’t stop,” Gavin whispered, throwing his arms out above his head, grabbing one of the pillows as if it could hold him steady as Ben fucked him into the mattress.

Ben didn’t say anything, but Gavin knew he couldn’t have stopped if he’d wanted it. He stroked Gavin’s erection in heavy passes, thumb playing the crown as he drove into Gavin again and again.

Suddenly, everything slowed. Ben worked the head of Gavin’s cock with frantic intention as Ben nearly stilled, resting his head against Gavin’s. “Fuck,” he whispered, breath heavy against Gavin’s skin. “Fuck.” And with that, Ben thrust into him again, harder than anything before. Gavin’s release built deep inside him, a cascade of shudders as everything in him tightened before he spilled hot and wet over Ben’s fingers, coating his stomach and chest with come.

“Thank Christ,” Ben muttered as he pushed deep and hard one last time before stilling over Gavin, trembling, voice strained, body rigid.

When Ben let himself fall against him, Gavin wrapped his arms around Ben’s shoulders, kissed the tattoos on his bare shoulders, even as he laughed softly. “Did you just thank Jesus for an orgasm?”

Gavin felt Ben’s laugh through his own body. “Prayer’s supposed to be good for the soul?”

“We’re going to hell.” But he couldn’t stop laughing.

Ben kissed Gavin again, rolling his hips one more time. “I go where you go, Gav.”

Yeah, Gavin knew that. It’d taken them a long while to get to this point, but Gavin was sure now. Ben would never kick him out again. Ben would never leave him. Ben was his and his alone. “Good answer,” he whispered, meaning to tease, but given everything they’d been through the last several months—hell, the last year—he sounded more serious than he’d intended.

“You’re all my answers,” Ben whispered. And wasn’t that just like him?

“I love you.”

Ben pulled back to see his face, caught Gavin’s eye. He kissed him, barely a brush of his lips against Gavin’s before saying, “I love you too, Gav. Always will.”

Yeah, Gavin knew that too, but it was nice to hear. “I know.” He wrapped his arms around Ben when Ben tried to pull away, tried to clean them up. Ben settled against him again, sheltered Gavin from the world, from the cool air around them, from reality. He ran his fingers down Ben’s back, traced the tattoos he couldn’t see, couldn’t even feel, but he knew them well enough to get close. “Let’s just stay here for the week.”

“I’m all for that, but I like being able to pay the mortgage…”

“Oh, that,” Gavin said with a soft laugh. “I guess that’s important too.”

Ben kissed Gavin’s temple, trailed his soft lips down the side of Gavin’s face. “And we should probably wash your ass print off the kitchen table.”

Gavin had nearly forgotten. “I should probably make us some dinner.”

“Or we could go grab our clothes and wipe down the table and then come back in here and pretend we’re asleep.”

“That could work.”

Ben nodded against Gavin’s shoulder, shifted over him before he finally pulled away. “I’ll grab the clothes, you clean the ass table?”

With a sigh, Gavin watched Ben sit up, clean them off with the corner of the sheet. “Meet you back here in five?”

“Three.”

“Deal.” Gavin got to his feet and practically raced Ben for the door. They laughed and nudged each other, bare naked, not caring at all as they stumbled down the hall together.

Gavin had almost given up on the idea, but they’d found each other again. In the nick of time.
