Chapter 11 Letter

Letter

Dearest Theodore,

I fear I must apologize for what you witnessed last night, for I seem to have frightened you, of which I assure you was not my intention. I send this letter in the hopes that you arrived home from the storm alright and are safe and well.

Should you choose to sever our ties and your employment, I would not begrudge you and shall guarantee you receive your due compensation.

I ask only your utmost secrecy in what you have seen, for the release of such details would not only harm me, but my family as well.

Despite what you may believe, I know there is a kind soul in you, and I do hope you make the correct choice in this matter.

However, should you wish to remain in my employ, I would be most glad and relieved.

I have found a comfort in your presence, and my house is much too large and quiet without you here.

I fear I am left only with the ghosts that haunt these halls, and while Mr. Allard tells me you have already met their acquaintance, I have not yet had the luxury.

Regardless, I shall not try and influence your decision and will accept whichever you so choose.

Please know, however, that I will not be home for the next tenday if you write or return.

I am to visit my brother, Jonas, in the city, as he's been quite insistent on seeing me after getting settled.

Know that you are still, of course, welcome at my home, either to visit your ghosts or to continue work.

Either way, you shall be compensated for your time.

I do so hope to hear from you. Should you need anything or have any concerns, I have included in this letter the address of my brother's lodgings in the city. Do not hesitate to contact me. I do so hope to see you upon my return.

With admiration,

A. Darling
