“I think this is the one she wants,” I pointed out a doll while wincing at the same time. There was an immense amount of pressure in my vagina, and it didn’t feel good.
“What’s wrong?” Onyx eyed me with concern in his orbs.
“Owwww,” I placed one hand on the bottom of my large belly as my stomach tightened.
“I’m having a contraction. It’s a little stronger than the Braxton Hick’s usually are, but there’s a lot of pressure on my pelvis and that’s what really hurts.
It literally feels like he’s about to crawl out of my vagina. ” I tried not to cry.
Onyx and I were in Target getting last minute items for Angel’s birthday party which was the next day. Invitations had been sent, the venue had been secured, and the cake had been ordered. If I had to miss my baby’s party, I was going to be a distraught mess.
“He’s not supposed to come for another week.” I swiped a tear away. “I can’t miss my baby’s party.”
“Hey,” Onyx spoke in a soothing tone. “It’s three in the afternoon.
You have plenty of time to push my baby out before tomorrow.
If you do, I won’t leave your side until it’s time for the party.
Me and your parents can hold it down. I know you don’t want to miss it, but we can have another party for her when you come home.
I’ll facetime you and take pictures. Just please don’t cry.
I don’t want your blood pressure to shoot up. ”
It didn’t matter what problem occurred. Onyx always jumped into protector and leader role effortlessly.
I was on the dramatic side, and Lord knows I was a crybaby.
He could calm me down each and every time with little to no effort.
No matter what he promised, I still didn’t want to miss Angel’s party, but I knew she’d be in good hands.
Her and her brother’s birthday being one day a part was insane.
And if I was in labor for a really long time, he’d come on her birthday.
I nodded, and Onyx placed a kiss on my forehead. “Well, hello, Tatum,” a voice behind me sneered.
Turning around, I saw Ivan’s mother glaring at me as if she was disgusted. Her eyes traveled down to my belly then back up to my face. I wasn’t in the mood for ignorance but before I could open my mouth, Onyx was on it.
“Can we help you?” Protectively, he stepped closer to her.
“We can’t do a damn thing,” Ms. Nash looked Onyx up and down. “I just want to know why Tatum is keeping Angel from her family? I haven’t seen her in almost three years.”
“And whose fault is that?” I asked with my hand still resting on my belly.
“I cut your lowlife son off two years ago which means if you haven’t seen her in three, you weren’t even coming around or making an effort before I decided to stop letting him play with my baby.
Now that his legs don’t work, he wants to be father of the year. Fuck out my face.”
Ms. Nash’s eyes widened, and she gasped. Had I not been so uncomfortable from my baby tap dancing in my uterus, I would have laughed. Ms. Mama was horrified.
“You are a hateful person. Watch how you talk about others and their misfortune.”
“Aight, respectfully, you can get the fuck on.” Onyx turned to face me. “I’m going to walk you to the car, then come back and pay for Angel’s stuff.”
I tossed a hateful look Ms. Nash’s way. “You see that? My baby’s birthday is tomorrow, and another man is buying her gifts. Your son is a deadbeat father, and you’re a deadbeat grandmother. Don’t ever question me about mine.”
I was fuming but once I was in the car and another contraction ripped through me, Ivan and his mother were the last things on my mind.
Onyx came out of the store carrying bags of gifts and took me straight to the hospital.
After five hours in labor, our son, Steele was born.
After a year of being together, Onyx proposed to me.
I was going back and forth with dates when I got pregnant.
I then decided that I wanted a chance to get my body back right before I walked down the aisle, so we hadn’t set a date but since my son had arrived safe and sound next on the agenda was planning the wedding of my dreams.
The end
