EPILOGUE
FIVE YEARS LATER
Rhys
Bristol lies cocooned against my chest on the blanket as we look up at the night sky. It was a long day for both of us, and we escaped with a picnic to our hidden spot that’s still only known to the two of us.
Two years ago, we created a rescue, turned half our property on the Hell’s Heathens compound into a safe haven for animals. Chaos wasn’t too thrilled about it at first, but we’re far enough away from the clubhouse that it hasn’t affected anyone.
She’s still running Bloomfield Animal Haven and volunteers her time in Amberwood as she’s needed.
Our life together is exactly what we wanted it to be.
Peaceful. Full of love and animals. We’ve adopted two more dogs to keep Harvey company: Haley and Jack.
Mr. Bun-Buns gained a companion as well, Sir Nibbles. We couldn’t be happier.
I wrap my arms tighter around her, breathing in her sweet scent that’s mingling with the balmy summer air.
“Tell me something no one knows.”
Bristol turns in my arms, looking up at me with those big, beautiful hazel eyes I’m so in love with.
“I’m pregnant.”
“You’re what?”
“I’m pregnant. About six weeks, I think.” I scramble upright, pulling her into my lap, placing my hand over her lower stomach.
“Love . . . there’s a baby in here? Our baby?
” Bristol nods, tears springing to her eyes.
She reaches forward, wiping away tears I didn’t realize were falling from my own.
She’s pregnant? I guess we can be happier.
Because nothing in the world could top this news.
We’ve been trying for months with no pressure, but every month that passed, we both silently wondered if this would be the month it happened.
I was so happy to be done with condoms, not that I minded using them, but to feel her silky center without anything between us was like nothing I’ve ever experienced in my life.
“How do you feel? When did you find out? What do you need?” My brain starts to scramble as the news digests.
“Breathe, baby, I’m okay. I found out this morning. I already made a doctor appointment. We’ll go and get checked out together. I feel good so far. My breasts are just tender and my period is late. So, I took a test.”
“I’m so happy, my love. I can’t believe we’re going to be parents. You’re going to be such a good mother. I can’t wait to see you holding our child.”
“Me? What about you? You’re the best husband, Rhys. You’re a natural caretaker, you’re going to shine in this role.”
“We’re going to handle it all together. Just like everything else we do.”
“You’re my best friend, Rhys. I know you’re also my husband, but life with you is more than I ever could have imagined for myself. You’ve made all my dreams come true.”
Her words hit their mark. She’s right. Bristol and I may have had an immediate connection, and I may have been the only one to recognize it right away, but we started out as friends and built on that.
She’s my best friend. The person I want to do everything with.
She makes me happy, challenges me, and makes me want to be a better man.
She’s everything that is good, kind, and compassionate in this world, and I’m the luckiest man alive to spend my life with her.
I’m methodical as I strip my woman of her clothes, eager to be inside her, to connect with her at this level that’s just for us. She does the same to me, sitting up on her knees as she helps me out of my cut, laying off to the side on the blanket.
Once we’re both naked, we fall back onto the ground. I slip easily between her legs, her pussy already wet and ready for me. It’s a rarity that I don’t put my mouth on her first, but right now, I just need to be one with her, and I can tell she feels the same way.
I fuck her slowly, deep, and sensual, cradling her face between my palms, whispering words of praise and gratitude against her lips. I make love to her like she’s wholly mine, because she finally is. Now and forever.
